Thanks for the Encouragement

Thanks for the encouragement guys. It was hard and the day didn't go by with out a few bouts of procrastination but I kept pressing on. I wanted to quit a few times but I kept countering the stinkin' thinkin' with "Yes I Can!" The end of the day finally came and I was able to say "Yes I did."

You were awesome!

In your present moment yesterday, you did all that was necessary and also shared great wisdom. I know you're gonna' be present today and accomplish as much stuff as you did yesterday. "A change is here"!

Chotrain-

Wow Monica!

You got a lot done today! Congrats! :)

Recycler CI 8:45pm EST

Hi Pro Buddies!

Today: straightened areas of new condo, took out trash, brought items from rental condo to new condo. Showered at gym & got ready for work. Accomplished projects in morning, including transporting and shipping a challenging-to-me package. Paid online bills & did errands during lunch. Did other projects in afternoon. After work did volunteer activity. Ate late dinner after getting home. Next: try to do a couple more things before going to sleep.

Have a great night, everyone! :)

Thank you, gals & guys, for being here! :)

Convalalria and consequences

Procrastination has consequences and after almost a lifetime of engaging in behaviour that is destructive and sort of 'getting away with it ' I am now in deep, deep trouble.  The tactics being used in the process are dirty. I have counter arguments. In my soul I know that the process is justified. I suspect (really I know) that the intention is to dispense with my services.
I want to survive in my profession and I want to do an adequate job.  There are things I need to do in the next 3 weeks.  I am not sure If I have enough time and enough strength and the consequences will still hang over me if I do accomplish the tasks of the next 3 weeks.

The only step I have accomplished is:

"Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves."

Everything else is either too nebulous or too difficult.

Most of today was scheduled, so no question about which UTs and ITs to choose. I was fully present and positive.

Now, an unexpected vet trip shortly, then food
,done: I am much better than I used to be at making nice things from what's in the cupboard in stead of takeaways. but I'm checking in to see if I can set a few goals to make my evening time as focussed (whether on tasks, or real good time-off) as I have done with the first morning hours. Did this! :D

Thanks, y'all, for being here and inspiring me with your progress and your honesty.

GeorgeSmiley 11 AM and updates

Been working about 90 minutes so far.

I got to bed very late last night because of my part-time job, so I slept later this AM than usual.

I had a phone conference scheduled for 9:30; the caller was 15 minutes late, which led me to just sort of dither rather than plunge into something--anything--that could fill the time until the call came.

Now I've been dithering more for the last 25 minutes since I began this entry.

MIT#1: Project P-0901

Update 1:30 PM

Sent a couple of emails to potential contacts for P-0901, and also did a little online research, but mostly paralyzed right now.

In the meantime, errands (car repair, trip to PO forgetting it was closed today), lunch.

Starting again.

8:40 : i've caught up here. Now set MITs.
10:10 (90min) : oops. got distracted online. a couple days ago this would have been a devastating blow. Today it is disappointing, but i'm going to try again. Set those MITs.
10:40 (30min) : started to set MITs. then got distracted. again. Harder to stay positive now. HP i need ur help.
10:55 (15min) : MIT1 needed to be started right away, so did that. now back to setting MITs. check in when done or 11:15.
11am (5min) : MITs set. now begin execution. Check back at 11:15.
11:15 (15min) : used timer this time :) working on MIT 1 but also my tracking process. Only give 5 more min to this--w/ timer.
11:20 (5min) : w/ timer. that's gone on long enuf. I have to tear myself away. it hurts.
    11:30 (10min) : working on MIT 2
11:45 (15min) : timer works nice. MIT 2 well underway. almost done. continue.
12noon (15min) : i keep checking in. what is this ?! time for quiet time.
12:15 (15min) : got a little distracted. back to it.
12:50 (35min) : quiet time was very distracted by my own thots on philosophy and religion. Delicious fun tangents. But not the main point, not the nourishing part. I end because of time, w/o getting that fuel i need.
*** But, in a way, it still works. Ending my quiet time because time expired in the presence of my distractions just emphasizes step 1: "We admitted we were powerless over compulsive procrastination, that our lives had become unmanageable." and i believe step 2: "Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity" and yet if i choose not to accept that power, the truth does not change, just my response to it. So, I feel like in a backhanded way this still glorifies HP.
12:50 : now back to work, check in at 1pm.
1pm (10 min) : tx timer. working on MIT 2. But i forgot to do 15 min of admin, so do that now.
2pm (60min) : lunch, admin, distractions. back to work. ci at 2:15pm. timer is set.
2:15 (15min) : working on MIT 2 snags not due to my procras. ci 230.
    2:30 (15min) : MIT 2 going slowly, but progressing. ci 245.
3pm (30min) : MIT 2 proceeding. 1 side task. back on mit 2. was IMing for work when 245 timer went off.
    3:15 (15min) : bookend side task, after:
    *** moving onto MIT 3
    3:30 (15min) : side task done. cont mit 3.
4:10 (40min) : break w/ kids home fr school. back to mit 3
4:30 (20min) : mit 3 done, back to mit 1 which is now ready.
4:50 (20min) : mit 1 next action compl. go back to mit 2 now. ci 5pm.
5pm (10min) : checking in every 15 min takes a lot of lines of text. got distracted, so back to it. ci 515.
    ...
8pm (3hrs) : family time. some work. Do 15 min on mit 4.

    Journey 8 am

Good morning!  Today is a holiday from work (U.S. Veteran's Day), but I want to get a couple of hours of work done anyway.  This will be a good day to organize email, review project list, and work on my online training course.

On the home front, I have a sinkful of dirty dishes, and several loads of clothes to fold up and put away.   I want to bust a mini-pile, find my knitting and other craft supplies, and while I'm upstairs survey the wreckage in the spare room and see what has to be done in order to have spend-the-night company next month.   I'm missing a pair of jeans so I'll do a bit of closet organization while I look for them.   I also need to go to the bank and PetSmart, balance my checkbook, and update the budget.  That should be enough to keep me busy today.  Oh, yeah, and I'd like to put new music and podcasts on my mp3 player, and finish the book I'm reading.

I better do triage and schedule my day before this todo list gets out of hand.  Back at 9 with mits and a plan for the day.

    Very busy day today!

I've got a lot of work to get done in NM's lab today, so that's going to be most of the day: minprep, PCR, transformation, finish getting computer set up, read 2 articles.

However, I also have a mtg w/ PF that I'm not really ready for. I think I'm going to cancel the meeting, but I'd like to have some progress to report when I do that. So I'm going to try to get together results on 3 datasets. I'm going to work on that 8:30-9:30.

Then, in the evening I have a whole bunch of work to do:
    *Email about party!
*finish lit. search for PT's project
    *Finish probability pset
    *go over genetics exam
*30 min work on notes/math for PT's project

Update 9--in PF's lab, and addressed a problem a co-worker was having. Now I'm going to spend 30 min looking at results from 1 dataset, then email to cancel/postpone mtg, then print 2 papers, then head to NM's lab to do miniprep.

Update 9:45--looked at results from 1 dataset, emailed, printed papers, now I'm heading over to NM's lab (a little late, but that's OK). I'm going to do miniprep, start PCR and set up my computer.

Update 5:15--still working in NM's lab. Labwork is going quite slowly, but I've done minprep and PCR, set up my computer, and am ready to start the transformation. I've also read part of a paper. And I had a nice lunch with my younger brother. I'm hoping to leave lab by 8. Since I'm getting home late, I'm not going to be able to accomplish everything I wanted, so I'm going to lay out the most important:
*Finish reading 1 paper for NM's lab
    *go over genetics exam
    *Finish lit. search
    *Email about party

And I'll postpone finishing pset, PT notes/math, looking at 2 datasets, and 1 NM paer.

Update 10:25--I finished work in NM's lab, got home at 9, took an hour and a half off to have dinner and watch heroes. Now I'm going to tackle my 4 evening tasks. I'm very tired, so I'm going to work through these in the chatbox, starting with going over the genetics exam.

A decent day...I got through 3 of my evening tasks, and microbursted the lit. search. I'll try and finish that by 8:30 tomorrow morning.

First and Foremost, I gratefully thank the Energy Source that has returned my soul back to me with compassion and has given me the ability to rise and jump into a Proactive Day.I thank Pro and others for helping me one day at a time assist with my development in being a functional and productive Procrastinator who gets things done. If I can spend 20 minutes to 30 minutes writing a comment on this site which brings me enjoyment, I can attack my task with the same enthusiasm. I can't wait to report at the end of the day that I tackled all of my chores. Here is my to-do list for today.......

    • 7:00-7:10 Spend 10 Minutes in Prayer and Meditation
    • 7:10-7:30 Shine Wife’s shoes
    • 7:30-8:00 Jump on the treadmill for 30 minutes while I flip through CNN, local news etc
    • 8:00-8:30 Shower, eat some breakfast
    • 8:30-9:30 Clean Bedroom
    • 9:30-10:00 Clean Closet
    • 10:00-11:30 Review Bills and send out payments (this will be the most difficult)
    • 11:30-1:00P Enjoy my day away from the job and just be
    • 1:00-3:00 Have a monster Drink and pick up the leaves in my yard
    • 3:00-7:00 Prepare dinner, just be and enjoy the judge shows on TV and do whatever the heck I want to do.
    • 7:00-8:30 straighten up my room over the garage (my hang out away from the Wifey and Kids).
    • 8:30 I'll check back in to give a rundown of my accomplishments.

I'm gonna do it!!!! You guys are praying for me and I'm praying that you get it done today. I envision me coming back at 8:30 PM saying I DID IT!!!!!!!Have a blessed and wonderful day with Love- Chotrain

    Chotrain CO 8:40PM

Wow.... I was in a zone today. Even with an unscheduled trip to the Dr with my son at 4PM, I was way ahead of the game.  I'm a little beat so my hang out room will be tackled first thing in the morning. When I posted my to do list for the world to see this morning, it gave me a motivation that was powerful. I felt that all eyes were watching so I was motivated in completed my entire task. It wasn't a struggle. Matter of fact, it was fun. I got things done by listening to music or watching TV land. I will take this mindset into the morning and will enjoy a relaxing evening. Have a peaceful night all and Stay Motivated! Chotrain-

Good morning, Roses and thanks for the thread starter.

I woke on my own at 5 this morning and feel pretty good. There is much to do here, but I am taking it one task at a time today.

so far, water and meds. I don't want to disturb the rest of the household, so I am going to focus on quiet time and also do some meal planning for the week.

    roses CI 10am

    Good morning.
I am up before midday! That's three days in a row, and feels like such an achievement!

Today I'm rehearsing again - an hour drums, then playing through songs and covers.

I have to purchase acoustic tiles online for when I tune or 'treat' my room, part of a huge project.

Other than eating well, checking emails and on here I have nothing else 'planned'. I think I would like to take some photographs around my village later, so I'll do that.

I hope such achievement I've felt will be in your day.
    Peace and love.
    ----
    10pm
Today has been relaxed. I completed all things I set tho, except ordering the tiles but for reasons of making a better plan; one that replaced 'buy'. I think I need to make a special project thread for my huge um... project.

Earlier in the afternoon I managed to brave the cold and take some photographs. I uploaded them here, for achievements sake.

    House and bed for me.
    Until tomorrow!

    Peace to you.
