Yeah, it's Friday. Gotta get myself out of low gear and figure out what I'm going to try get done today...
Nice graphics by the way.
glad you like it!
I can't take credit - I just chose one of the available graphic fonts on the glitter text site.
pro's check-in section
I just got up 5 minutes ago. Ordinarily I'd have already checked my email, BUT I HAVE NOT!!!! I think I will take a shower and get dressed before I do anything else (besides post here).
pro's CI - 6:40pm
While I was on my walk, I bought some movie tickets, so that's what I'll be doing tonight. I deleted the to-do list for today because I'm done for today. I realized that I have to feel good about what I did today because I stuck to plan and did the very best I could. I worked a full day and I didn't waste time. I had more of a backlog than I realized so I didn't get everything done that I hoped, but the backlog is gone now so next time I'll do more. But I have to give myself the "pat on the back" for a job well done today - that's important!
I had the HARDEST time figuring out a plan for tonight and this weekend. It was weird - I just blanked. I couldn't figure it out. That's the ADD - impaired executive function. But with effort I did figure it out. Well, at least I figured out tonight! :?

Good thinking.
I like how you were decisive about how to spend the evening, and that you gave yourself credit for everything you did acheive.
Well done! :)
I had a good time, too!
I saw the movie Wordplay, about the NY Times crossword puzzle (editors, constructors, and fans - including former president Bill Clinton). After the movie, the director, the graphics guy for the film, and the puzzle constructor in the film (long time contributor to the NY Times) answered questions from the audience. I won a copy of the companion book by being the first to answer a puzzle given to the audience. The graphics guy took a picture of me with the puzzle guy (Merl Reagle) with my cell phone. All very entertaining. I'm a big crossword fan. :)
Cool!

I moved my 3:15 and 3:45 check-ins - had put them in the wrong place.
I want to check my email again. Last check was at 1:10pm, so I think that's okay.

Very good friend called. Have been on phone this last half hour.
pro's CI - 3:15pm
I'm feeling upset that it's 3:15pm, and all I have managed to do is clear my desk. :( I just feel so discouraged and hopeless. It seems to take my best effort just to do the basic things in life, and I have no time left over for anything else!! Maybe I'm just dealing with a backlog from too much emailing, but it's very discouraging.
I have one other tedious thing to do - a billing mix-up - and I don't know where the papers are that document it. I thought it was resolved so I filed them, and now I have to find them.

I really need to check my email now. I'm waiting for something that didn't arrive, and I need to see if there's a message about it.

I haven't been to the mailbox yet. I was hungry so I took a break by eating lunch.
I still haven't checked email, and now I'm starting to feel like I don't want to. I'm afraid it will trap me and keep me from getting stuff done.

Well, clearly - by how long it took me to go through - the mess on my desk had indeed become a "pile". I need to do this every day so it doesn't take over an hour to go through.
I feel like I need a break now, so I'll go check my mailbox - walk outside a bit.
I really need to catch up on my accounting. The box of receipts waiting to be entered into Quicken is in my way, and I'd like to get it off the floor (not to mention all the other majorly good reasons for doing this - e.g. filing back tax returns).

I'm feeling very optimistic about my new strategies (new morning routine, limiting email). They seem to be working. It's not quite 10am and I'm ready to attack the mess on my desk. That's a MIRACLE for me!!

Still have not checked email. Have decided not to check it until my bed it made up and my desk is clear - all other tasks done. Checking email is a significant reward for me. I'm not going to let myself do it until the other stuff is done!!!!

I think I'm going to continue getting dressed and taking my pills when I first get up because these are things I don't like to do, and I waste a lot of time procrastinating about doing them. If I'm dressed and have taken my pills before I sit down to breakfast, I'm going to be starting my day a lot sooner!!
Still have not checked email!!!!!

Yay! Good on you!!
I'm pathetic, I still checked my email too much.
But this will make you laugh. I didn't get any emails today. NONE (I feel neglected!). In fact, I even sent myself one to make sure I hadn't stuffed it up when I played with my VPN. I was actually disappointed it came thru - that meant there really WERE no emails for me today!!!!
Sigh! What a loser, hey??????!!! :lol:
LOL!!
> I even sent myself one to make sure I hadn't stuffed it up when I played with my VPN.
:D I totally relate!!
I'm posting here as a way to connect. I could not stay away from this forum AND not check email. That's too much at once. The social contact of email (such as it is) gives me something I need. So I want to limit it - not take it away totally.
I want to read the section on handling email in my time management book before I check it - I want a strategy for this!!

Vets appt coming up shortly - I need to get dressed and get going! (Slow start this morning - had a much needed lie-in).
Normy - URL for photobucket?
Normy,
I looked high and low on the photobucket site, and couldn't manage to find the area with the graphical text and images. Could you post the URL?
Photobucket
www.photobucket.com
It's a host site - I don't even know if you'd need it as a web developer (do you have a continuous web hosting thingy anyway?). You find your text and graphics elsewhere, like flamingtext as previously posted, and then copy it to your computer, then upload to photobucket (or equivalent), photobucket generates the code, then whenever you want to use them you just copy the code and post it.
I know the main URL, but...
...I knew it was photobucket.com, but I couldn't find where on that site the graphic text was. Could you post the page within this site where you find the graphics and graphic text?
I would, but I don't know what you mean :o(
I don't find graphics and text on the site, I find them elsewhere like flamingtext, photobucket is just for hosting (you do need to sign up for that, so that you can store the stuff in your own 'album'). Once you've got an album you upload the graphics/text (which you've already found and saved to your computer), then you go back to your album each time you want to use them). I think I'm misunderstanding something because I'm not saying anything here I haven't already said, so bear with me - I haven't forgotten I said I'd do a post about graphics, but I still haven't had time (unless I do it next time I'm procrastinating!)
Ooooohhh - then it's not photobucket!
I don't need a place to host stuff. I have plenty of Web sites. What I'd like to know is where you find the graphics and graphical text. You mentioned flamingtext - what's the URL for that? Where else do you find graphics? You post so many nice ones.
Gifs and stuff
I thought you wouldn't need hosting, and I mentioned it on another post. Maybe you missed it so that's why we're getting our wires crossed ;) Flaming text is posted above www.flamingtext.com and another one is www.glitteryourway.com. The gifs/pics I either just pick up from other people (like if anyone posts one here you can pick it up and upload to your own host thingy), or I just Google 'free gifs' and specify what sort e.g. 'free sheep gifs'. There are whole sites dedicated to them, but I don't remember any names as I don't go very often (time sucker!). When I get more time I'll look some up, but if you Google (or whatever) you'll find them.
thanks for the tips!
I'm scared to get too involved in this because I could see using it to procrastinate, but I enjoy the graphics you post and would like to post more myself. I'll try the two sites you mentioned.
Norm's 12 noon BE
Err - I don't seem to be doing very well here, but I've been pretty much on task since I last posted.
*Took DDog to vets
*Done the essentials of MR - took a while because there was stuff we'd abandoned last night, plus there's the huge hotspot caused by my yoga equipment in the middle of the floor. I've now got it all in lovely new trolley cases and I've moved the furniture round a bit so we're not tripping up on it. It's not ideal, but at least it's not a hazard now! (Mind you, I now have a trampoline in the middle of the floor).
12.30 BOTH CI
On task - drawing up course plan until end of year for 1:2 sessions.
1.30 BOTH CI
On task - still doing course plan. Have photocopied some handouts for today.
Going to have lunch now - it's now or never because if I leave it any longer I won't be able to because of the time I'm teaching. I'll check back in TOTH.
WTG Normy!!
:)
Excellent work!
Good onya!
clap-clap-clap for not wandering off-task!!
WTG Normy!! :)
2pm TOTH CI
Thanks Pro! :)
*Had lunch
*Deflected caller to front door
*Back at desk
It's all well and good having a course plan to the end of the year, but I'm starting my sessions in an hour and a quarter and I need to make sure I'm ready for ~today~! So I'm going to take what I've already prepared for the first two clients, and get it all together by 2.20 pm. Then move onto next client, and get it all ready by 3.00 pm, by which time it's time to leave.
deflecting time wasters
> *Deflected caller to front door
I deflected my next door neighbor this morning. I opened my door to put a bottle in the recycling bag, and she was coming up the stairs. She loves talking to me, and can keep me trapped for a long time. She said my name when she saw me like she was about to launch into another very long monologue, but I said, "This is a bad time" and that cut it short.
6 mins off-task
Sidetracked for 6 mins CUOP - back at it...
2.36 pm Planning for first two clients done. On to third client.
3pm CI
OK, good enough. I'm off. See you when I get back!
not a sidetrack, a reward!!
CUOP is a good reward for working. You've earned 6 minutes for yourself!
thanks
;)
8.15 CI
*Clients' sessions done :)
*Had evening meal
Next:
*Take DDog for walk (part of Daytime Routine)

* get clothes out of dryer and put away
* sweep and vacuum (low priority)
* catch-up with a friend (low priority)
Phew!!! And this is with 2 kids under 4 at home with me!!!!!!!! Wish me luck!!!!!!!!!!!
10 pm
Well! I did quite well! Making myself not look at the site (I even uplugged my wireless do-dad so I wasn't online) kept me on a roll.
So.....
Ta da:
* Load of washing out of dryer and put away
* Put next load of washing in dryer
* Fed kids
* started daily thread and my section
* checked email
* One more load in dryer and one more in washer (Mt Washmore!)
* started adjusting presentation
* broke up 23,332 sibling disputes
* shower, dress, eat...morning routine
* dress kids and switch off the TV
* made kids' lunch
* did lunch dishes
* played with the kids
* catch-up with a friend (she babysat for a while)
* sent document to other-job boss for review (It was the 9th draft!)
* print out handouts for staff meeting this arvo
* get to staff meeting at work on time (4pm) to present my bit
* hang out delicates in machine now
* got my VPN connection to work fixed
* spent some more time with the kids (does taking them to my work meeting count???!!!)
* talked to insurance guy about insurance (obviously ;))
* went to the supermarket
* Ate too much chocolate
* Prepared dinner & fed kids
* broke up another 54,071 sibling disputes
* continued to adjust general presentation to suit specific audience
* developed 1 handout
* created post-presentation feedback form
To do:
* continue to adjust general presentation to suit specific audience
* continue developing handouts (probably 3 more?)
* convert pres into powerpoint version (DH will do most of this)
* drink lots of water and take vitamins (hmmm...didn't really look after myself physically today :()
* decide what I'm cooking for my dinner party tomorrow night (low priority)
* sweep and vacuum (yeah, as if I'm going to do THAT now!)
So I didn't get everything off the list but I certainly didn't expect to get to the sweeping and dinner-party planning. Will tidy the house tomorrow (thanks to Flylady it won't take long as I've only let it slide today) and figure out my meal arrangements. And of course I know I still have hours of preparation for the presentation to do, but will spread that across the weekend.
Phew!!!!!
