Recycler CI 7:20pm EST

Hi Happy Thinkin' Pro Buddies! :)

Yeah, Friday makes me about the happiest of all, too :)

Today: walked + treadmill (lol), stretched, work. Floundered a bit, but eventually got all the immediate-deadline projects done, plus some other stuff, too; plus gave extra help for a coworker. Did a volunteer project that I have procrastinated about for a couple weeks ;) Walked most of the way home. Was fairly near the neighborhood festival; I didn't need to go again, but did anyway and had dinner. Walked the rest of the way home. Had thought about going to [optional] Support Group tonight, but got home a little too late. Next: I need to stay up a couple hours for my food to digest. I think mostly I am just going to surf the net for a while ;)

Have a great night, everyone! :)

Thank you, gals & guys, for being here! :)

Convalalria, a Plan on Saturday at 7.50 am, 5.08pm and 1.25 am s

I have mornings working OK.....usually.  Result:

  • laundry up to date and tidy kitchen and bedroom
  • good grooming and nice appearance
  • happy doggy
  • safe backyard (no poo!!!)

Difficulty is after work and in the evenings.
I have an after school routine and an afternoon/evenng routine but I do not do them!
This does contibute to stress as:

  • work preparation and grading tasks are not done and this causes stess, absentism  and compromises professional integrity
  • house paper work is not done  causing late fines and other stuff!
  • time is wased on computer games and TV shows that I sit through without compehension
  • weight loss and exercise goals are not achieved
  • friendships and relationships are not tenended to

and I could go on......

Any way...Today I plan to:

  • Morning routine with an extra long exercise session fo doggy.
  • pick up medication
  • synagogoue
  • plsn shopping list
  • shop with mum
  • bake cake for tpnight
  • check in

5.04pm

  • most of above done
  • unloaded dishwasher
  • unpacked shopping
  • had an anxious nap

but wasted about an hour playing spider solitaire. Now I choose to:

  • bake the cake
  • cook something else
  • tidy kitchen
  • wipe a few messy bits
  • get primped for outing
  • check in

all done, back home at 1.25 am Sunday

good night all

grrrrrrr

Feeling defensive and somewhat deflated after returning from my resume evaluation appt. I have to go through the same interaction over and over again with people about my construction experience.  The hard physical labor isn't even the point in any job I am applying for right now, but when someone looks you in the eye and tells you that you didn't do what you did, what I did for 16 months, in 100+ degree weather, that made it possible when it otherwise wouldn't have been for people to own their own home, it really pisses me off.  Obviously I didn't show up in my work gloves and tool belt to a one-on-one appt.  But sh*t, because I put on mascara today means that I couldn't possibly have worked the back of a concrete truck pouring foundations?  Please.  Everyone's been told as some point that they are not capable of a future task.  But don't tell me what I haven't done.

Ahhh!  Ok, back to the issues at hand.  I'm ditching my negative feelings, using the suggestions I think will help and ditching the rest.

Immediate MIT: get this email out to J.A. @ S.

MIT #2: Make the changes to this resume.

THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME VENT!

what demand resistance feels like

Felt extreme demand resistance today.  Contrary to my
efforts, I had a deep dent in my confidence, and, almost more
importantly, my momentum.  Sitting at my desk in front of my computer,
I could not even pull out my marked up resume.

The feeling is horrible and distinct: I want to crawl out of my skin.  I am angry.  Angry at the resume lady.  Part of it is that she was recommended to me by a friend who just saw her,
and recommended her so highly because of how encouraging, how
non-condescending, and how aknowledging she was of her efforts.  I did
a quick mental recap of my hour with her, and realized she was none
of that with me.  And my resume was far more complete and professional
that the stage that my friend's was at when she brought hers in.

I went into an instant tailspin, and thoughts about everything else teetering on the the edge in my life came rushing in.  I felt desperate to hide.
World, please stop.  Please stop so I can cry, please stop so I can get
ahold of myself, please stop so I'm not that one more second closer to
financial ruin and loss of housing.

I
wanted to do something else.  Anything else so that I was still being
productive, still making progress in something else.  But I was
consumed with emotions and thoughts that I could not control and sent
me down so, so fast. It feels like being trapped in an elevator that drops floor after floor after floor.
There's that brief pause where I know I've fallen another level, and I'm desperately pressing buttons as though there IS some combination that will make it stop.  But I drop, my stomach jumps into my throat, and I'm just powerless.

I
hid all day.  The only place I have is my bed, and sleep if I can get
there.  I was NOT tired.  I did NOT want to be there.  But I had to get
to a place to ride out the anger and the terror.  I felt so scared and
alone.

I have 5 guests coming in to town late
tonight.  One of them is my dear friend K., and she is bringing 4
others.  I am not equipped to converse with people I am meeting: the
first question is always "So, what do you do?" and I don't have an
answer.  The uncomfortableness I endure with 4 new people for the
weekend will have to be the price I pay to get to spend some time with
someone who cares about me, which I desperately need.

I
need to prep the sleeping situation for tonight.  This is like being on
a roller coaster, which must mean I'm heading for an "up."  I must
allow myself to feel better.  I will allow "the lift."

Friday night check-in

Made sleeping arrangements for 5 guests. [They'll be coming in tomorrow night instead.]

Made dinner for myself.

Repair pants to wear tomorrow. [Started, will finish tonight.]

Washed face & got ready for bed.

Sent first email revealing any details about my life right now to M.  All correspondance and visits w/ M. in 2007 were emotionally damaging and destructive, but because of my current situation, I am taking this chance.  M. is my only family.

Checked in via phone w/ friend M.C.  She was supportive and normalizing, what I needed.

Taking a break with some tea.  Cried enough that I don't have that shaky, about-to-burst feeling in my chest anymore.  This is a good time to tackle some upsetting tasks as I don't need to face anyone at this hour, I don't have to worry about crying as I get through it, and I feel a sense of calm after crying/writing/talking some stuff out.

Tomorrow I get to see K. :)

Hang in there, PiP

Hi PiP,

It sounds like you are in a really rough situation. . . and like you are handling it really well -- reaching out for support, taking steps to move forward (what a bummer that the resume person was so unhelpful!  You have every right to be ticked off.) and listening to your own needs and feelings so you can take care of yourself.  Sometimes riding out an emotional wave IS the MIT.

I hope you have a great visit with your friend, and that you'll keep checking in.

GeorgeSmiley 1:30 PM Check-in; Updated 5:36 PM

A really up and down last 18 hours or so.

I was making progress on Project R yesterday, but then a quick turn around, must-do editing project took over. I had to get it finished by this morning.

I worked on it some yesterday afternoon, then finished it late last night.

But I fell way short of just staying focused. Instead I interspersed my work with lots of procrastination activity--in this instance, mostly political-blog surfing again. (The fact that there were some major political events in the real world didn't help, either...)

So while I got mostly finished on the task (it needed another person's sign-off before I could mark it really done) I was up until nearly 3 AM. Considering I was to get up by 6 AM that was pretty dumb.

This morning I finished up that project [Project T, let's call it] and then instead of getting right down to work--or checking in here where I'd be accountable--I spent more time in political junky land.

Grail's "a binge" post felt very relevant to me just now!

OK. I've had lunch, I've got work in front of me, so I'm going to proceed.

MIT#1: Do my weekly overview.

MIT#2: Work on Project R for 2 hours.

MIT#3: Do some office organizing, mainly paring down my in-box pile.

UPDATE: 5:36... Good and bad.

Did the overview. Did a lot of organizing.

Didn't do much on R.

Living with that. But I'm wiped out and will quit for the day.

Plan to try to clean up in my home office this weekend.

Cheers, all...

Agnus checking in

Major MITs this week and next...my biggest client just slashed contract length from 1-2 years down to 10 months - but wants to spend same $. Can I do it? It definitely won't allow me time to procrastinate! :-) But it also might give me a stroke, so I really need to think this through. And of course they want my complete revised plan by COB today...

So that, and hurricane preparation, pretty much owns my day. Not going to kid myself about posting too much today, just grateful to know y'all are here, the Tools and Steps work for me, and my HP is on my side. Have a great Friday, dear friends!

hope it passes you by

Agnus, above all I am wishing safety for you and your home if you are in any hurricane-affected area.  I'm thinking of you!

thanks pip!

we seem to have dodged Hanna in my area but we'll keep an eye on Ike until well after the weekend. lotsa squally weather but the crazy surfers are loving it...

10:03am, Lark

Hi all. I wasn't going to post, and just rely on a hard copy of goals today, but I think it would be a good idea to, just in case. I try to take care of loose ends on Fridays. I've been so stressed lately that I'm going to take half an hour this morning, and another one later today to relax and read a book I got last spring. Good luck everyone.
TodY:
(X)morning things
spiritual time
feed neighbor's dog
reading breaks a., and b.
finish work project A
finish B if supplies arrive
sort laundry
sort out and spend an hour on project C
check in later
