Recycler CI 6pm EST

Hi Pro Buddies!

Busy at work in a good way :)

Today: walked to gym, elliptical, stretching, kept projects going at work :) Bought provisions at lunchtime. Also made notes on Large Errand during lunchtime. Afternoon, kept going on projects & also emailed a friend. Rode train home.

Next: I can has Chik-fil-A? :) Get a bite to eat on my way to my support group meeting. Will hopefully meet with sponsor after meeting.

Have a great night everyone! :)

Thank you, gals & guys, for being here! :)

GS Monday 2:20 PM

Finally checking in.

This was a complicated morning. My sons were with me this weekend (they're with me one night a week and every other weekend, usually  alternating weekends but sometimes back to back), and my youngest (age 11) always complains that there's nothing to do here.

So while I got some focused work done at the very beginning of the day, I ended up moving a phone appt. for Project G to Wednesday, and then I spent from 9:40 AM thru lunchtime doing stuff w/ him before he rode his bike back to his mother's.

We read Tom Sawyer and then played Monopoly. It was great fun.

After lunch, I sat down at my home office desk again and I've been floundering for focus again. A very long list of tasks, which means Task #1 is always making the task list shorter.

So instead I did some recreational net surfing and checks of email and other unfocused, basically escapist tasks.

Over the weekend I did some fiddling around with how I track tasks in Outlook but I don't know that that was particularly insightful or helpful. I also re-read some things from Getting Things Done and was reminded about the need to get through that in-basket.

So of course the in-basket is piled even higher with stuff now.

I actually want to take more time to look through what's been posted here since I last visited. I'm going to set the timer for 30 minutes and then set some MIT's for the rest of the afternoon.

OK

My instinct right now is to use the next 30 minutes to do a series of less important tasks that are nonetheless on my list, just to get rid of them.

Then I'll take 30 minutes to work on that in-basket.

GS 4:30 PM

Checked off a few things from the list. But I've studiously avoided that in-basket so far.

Setting the timer for 30 minutes to focus only on it.

4:54-Did one thing...

namely, fill out a college reunion registration form.

In the meantime got to responding to various emails.

Resetting the timer for another 30 minutes.

Journey 3:00

Car won't be ready til tomorrow *sigh* so I will be driving dd to school again tomorrow.

I'm folding laundry . . . .

Just got back from weekend in NYC, this afternoon will be devoted to catch-up and Harambee prep, so I'll be able to focus on work the rest of the week. (I plan to do a bit of work tonight, in order to get me on the right track for the week.)

Tasks are:
*Unpack
*Deal with email
*Tidy room (just deal with the worst)
*Email IA to let her know I'm home safe
*Check buses to belmont
*Email mom to ask about staying with G+D
*Grocery shop
*Laundry
*Make cake for Harambee
*Find and print pictures for Harambee
*Order bday present for IA
*Thank you note to grandpa
*Spend 30 min thinking about next semester's Harambee
*Email ZW about house jobs, sign up for a job

OK, this is a lot of stuff, but I'll do the best I can. I'll quickly deal with email, order bday present,  check belmont buses, email IA, email mom, email ZW. Then I'll unpack, start laundry, go grocery shopping, start the cake and check back in.

kromer 11:20 CI

This is been a busy afternoon/evening.

I got all of the about done, except thank-you note (still needs to be done tonight) and 30 min next semester prep (turns out it can be postponed for a couple weeks).

Went to Harambee, came home, called my parents and did my house job for the week.

Now, before I go to bed I choose to:
*Email about  missing jobs sheet
*Email  G+D, BV about staying with them
*Thank you note
*Fold laundry
*Post *last* saturation curve expt.
*Shower

ritva: love the thread starter.

i enjoyed my night last night.

but today has been stress all morning.

time 4 quiet time but i feel like it will crater my work objectives. But really it will only cost 1/2 hr, and it's over lunch.

i'm sufferring from 2 things. a) 90% done so i can stop. b) dreading the next step.

let's see if HP can do anything about that in the next 1/2 hr.

...8 min later, feeling tired, can't get started yet. Going to search for some caffeine.

ok, 1:09 now. got coffee. That's actually a victory believe it or not.

Now to address the quiet time.

Journey 12:45

Hope everyone is having an enjoyable and productive Monday!

I am back from taking car to shop, taking dd to school, running a couple of errands, and having lunch.

I have a list of things I'd like to get  accomplished today.  One of those is to make the last of three phone call about financial stuff.   I'm going to use "Now do this" and my timer and see what I can get done today.

I got up at 5:30 this morning, and I'm gradually working myself back to getting up at 4:45 and hauling my butt to the gym by 5:30   * groan * It is so worth it, but it doesn't feel that way when the alarm goes off.

Bookending prioritizing my list and setting my top 3 MITs.  #1 is already done, that was getting the car to the shop!  So I already feel successful.  I hope you do too.

Hi everyone. Good luck on your endeavors for today. For me, I need to be accountable by finishing yesterday's stuff. There were a few tangents. Two things for work just "have to" be finished today. Also, I've mentioned here a few times about a client who's been evasive paying a bill. I've come to the conclusion that I need to formulate a plan for me in case that doesn't happen soon.
today:
(X)morning things
spiritual (not me) time
come up with a gameplan to circumvent client A
find stopping point for project A and pack away
finish project B
finish project C
do general house cleaning swoop
wash dishes

ag ci and thx

all the good wishes mean so much. thank you! today's MITs are to support Mom, sit with Dad in the hospital, review/edit state lettrs, outrch plan and TA plan; call 3 state ldrs for goals, and attend family mtng w soc wkr to decide next steps for Dad and Mom's care. i plan to be gentle with myself today on the non-family MITs because they might not be possible in such a fluid dynamic.

hope evryone has a great Monday! and, welcome ritva! thanks for starting today's thread.

Journey 8 am & special hugs to AG

Good morning everyone!

I'm on vacation and was planning to stay home and do stuff around the house all week, but got a last minute invitation for a free trip to the lake for the weekend.  Had a great time, but back now with 3 days of vacation left.

DDs car check engine light came on so today will be spent dealing with that.  Maybe I'll get some of that decluttering done Tuesday and Wednesday . . .

Yesterday (Monday 18)

Hi clement,

I am glad you liked my day opening. I am afraid I
have to make day openings often because I live in Europe. In the
morning you are so busy you cannot make any complicated things and I do
not like the pictures unless they bring serenity and peace.

My internet was off yesterday evening so I write now on Tuesday morning.

I managed to do what I had planned ... or I asked my husband to put
dishes into dishwasher but I did some laundry which was not planned.
