e's extraordinarily belated ci

It has been a productive day in the way that when you don't have anything to do you can fit SOMETHING productive into all that spare time. Today that meant writing emails to tenants, calling the gas company/electric company, calling about registering C for school, set up times to show the house. But mainly, I rested my sprained knee, watched some television, started reading my new cell phone manual (technically challenged person here), and enered some new addresses. I also took a very lomg, very rewarding nap. I helped move some furniture, watched some Olympics, and set out supper for my sister-in-law and son. I also emptied and filled the dishwasher.

Tomorrow we are supposed to go away, and so I ought to be getting ready to do so, but I am not particularly ready to get ready for it.

I am not avoiding, but am putting off looking for work. I begin to look and begin to feel like I am unqualified for positions that I probably should apply for. So, it is 12 step time, and eft time, and basically, ask Higher Power for help moving past all of that time.

Tonight: clear up paperwork from bed, talk to K on phone, take meds for knee, watch more Olympics.

GeorgeSmiley finally checks in for Friday at 1:36 PM

Hello everyone...

This was a morning of runnning around. I got a lot done in those tasks--just nothing that earns me any income. :-)

Early I went into my outlook and pared down my list of today's tasks. What remains is still too long a list. I know I won't get them all done, and I'll try not to let myself be intimidated and paralyzed by how long the task list still is.

MIT#1: Quick call to arrange a phone interview for Project R.

MIT#2: Give editor of Project R a new date to expect the draft.

MIT #3: Do my big overview for the week (What David Allen in Getting Things Done calls the "30,000-feet review"). I have been not doing this for months, and I decided this week I need to schedule it every Friday and just do it. I'm allowing myself up to 2 hours for it.

I'll check back in after I finish MIT #3.

All 3 done.

Next 2 MITs:

#1: List questions for a phone interview scheduled for Monday AM on Project G.

#2: Begin to outline Project R.

GS: Did #1

...but I'll admit to some recreational surfing that slowed down the process, and leaves little time for #2. Still I'll try to make some inroads on that for 30 minutes.

GS: #2 was pretty much a bust

THere's a reason for that. The piece I call Project R is an interesting one [a 5,000 word magazine piece] but it's very tough for me to figure out what the real narrative arc is. So I floundered for about 30 minutes and decided to give it up for the day. I set some related tasks for Monday -- rereading notes of all the interviews i've done for this project, and making some more calls -- and then attended to a handful of other items hanging in my task lists. At the same time I multi-tasked with recreational surfing -- not the smartest way to go, but I'm giving myself a pass because it's Friday afternoon and I've done very well all week.

Monday's task list is once again way too long. So once again the first task on it is to shorten the task list!

drun5 C.I. 1:55pm EDT

It's been a while since I posted a Check-in here; I need it.

Along with again thanking all those who contribute helpful posts to PA, I have to give special Thanks to GeorgeSmiley for his very elegant and helpful “tutorial” he kindly gave thru his series of C.I.’s on Aug 14th ! MIT #1: Make To Do list with MIT’s for today, and post on pa.org .
MIT #2: Write brief em/letter to my ref LD, confirm, catch up, ask for r.; state will write more.
MIT #3: Write same to ED.
MIT #4: Ck hum web site for my cv; follow up call if necc.(MIT #5: if time, org sect of hum v. form for dr m., prep to send.)

est. I need to map out ~ 15 min for calls. before ~ 7pm. Thank You Everyone! drun

I'm blushing...

Embarassed...but glad something I wrote helped someone besides me. Because it helped me A LOT!

Falcon Friday CI

Hi all,

Doing the feeling-crummy-for-no-good-reason thing again today.  No idea why, since life is going well, and I got lots of exercise in my class this morning, which usually perks me up.  So annoying when my brain has a mind of its own.  Undecided

But. . . I managed to un-crumb myself the other day, so let's see if I can do it again.

To do next: eat something, drink lots of liquid, look up info on farmer's market, maybe take a hot bath.

Falcon

feel better falcon!

Feeling blue is really frustrating, hope it's short :)

And congrats on trying to perk yourself up (and on being successful the other day).

Thanks, kromer!

Thanks, kromer!  I'm feeling a lot better.  One thing that really helped was doing some self-hypnosis, using a technique I'd never tried before.  It's easier than other techniques I've used, and was surprisingly effective.

In case anyone else feels like trying it, here's a link:   http://www.hypnosisnow.com/selfhypnosis.htm

Hope everyone has a good evening.  Weekend's here!

Falcon

Falcon CI Fri.

Apparently I was just tired -- took a nice long nap, and shook off the crumbs.

Next up:  go to bank before it closes!  Take bath/shower, get ready for this evening, make & eat some dinner

Hope everyone here is feeling crumbless, too!

Journey 9:30

  Happy Friday!

I'm still on vacation.  Remember that long walk I said I was going to take yesterday?  Well, I finally did it this morning.

Next, I'm going to clean up, get dressed, and reactivate my Calorie King account . . . I have really fallen off the diet wagon this summer and instead of losing weight, I have gained a couple of pounds.  Gotta watch that!   At my age, the weight thing can get out of hand rather quickly.  I also need to do my time sheet for work, I forgot to do that on Wednesday.

When those things are done, I'll take a goofing off on the computer break.

Later!

Jo

Having a hard time getting started this morning (just spent an hour websurfing...)

MITs (this is a large list, but all of them are really important, and they are relatively short tasks):
*Spend an hour planning next week's Harambee, email PJ and CV
*Visualize results from new interactome
*Call CH
*Email IA
*Post 2 sat. experiments
*Fix/test ace2tamo and meme2tamo
*Teen Crib
*print some nature/science articles
*lab meeting
*fix code for running ampl automatically
*start large job without cv
*Find someone to post jobs sheet next week

Should do:
*Try job with STRING interactome and visualize results
*spend 30 min researching who I want to work with
*make a schedule for next week
*Tidy room
*email about lease

Would like to do
*Pack
*get/organize novartis data.

Whew! I feel a little better now that I have a list of tasks, though. I'm going to start by emailing IA, emailing about lease, tidying room, listening to my voicemail, printing jobs sheet and finding someone to post it, posting 2 sat. experiments.

kromer 10:40 CI

Making good progress.

Now I'm going to go to lab. Once I'm there, I'm going to fix code for running ampl automatically, start large job without cv, visualize results from new interactome and go to lab meeting.

Update 11:30--took out trash and packed lunch, now in lab and fixing code for running ampl.

Update 11:50--fixed code for running ampl, have lab mtg in 10 min. Now I'm going to start vis. results, and will finish after mtg.

Update 12:10--lab mtg postponed for next week, so I finished visualizing results and had my lunch. Now I'm going to start large job without cv, then check back in with a new plan.

kromer 12:40 CI

I started large job without CV.

Now I'm going to email EYL, start job on STRING interactome, print some articles to read over the weekend (indirectly related to my research, to expand my general knowledge of the field), fix ace2tamo and meme2tamo, and make a schedule of what I choose to get done next week.

Update 1:40--emailed EYL, made schedule, and started job on STRING interactome. Now I'm going to go print some articles, back in about 15 min.

Update 2:25--printed articles, then got distracted for 25 min. But I'm back now and ready to re-focus. I'm going to check on running jobs, then fix ace2tamo and meme2tamo, then check in again.

kromer 4 CI

did meme2tamo, turns out ace2tamo has quite a bit more work to do, I'll have to do that tonight.

I've got another 30 min at work, so I'm going to try and use it efficiently! I'm going to make some model files to keep the large job running, then start next stage of large job, then visualize results from STRING interactome. Then I'll print out grad. orienatation schedule. I'll leave for Teen Crib at 4:30 (so I can walk there and get some exercise in.

Lark at 9:17am

Good morning everyone. Nice day here. I hope it is for you folks too. What I do today is mostly contingent upon what others do, but I can't waste much time waiting. It'll be a good time to take care of small things and loose ends. The table pile has grown two heads, the workshop looks like someone picked it up and shook it, and some mail needs to be finished and put out.
Today:
(X)morning things
spiritual time
take care of mail
sort table
put stuff in work area away for 15 minutes (one time, or...)
focus on project A
do something to project B
call client again for project A with bill
bring end table in house send in power bill payment
check in early afternoon
