pro's CI - 9:15pm

Instead of getting ready for bed right away, as I said I would, I put away some books and I'm still not ready for bed. Getting up to brush teeth now...

pro's last check-in - 9:35pm

I'm ready for bed now.

Good night, everybody!

G'night

G'night,
and hey - congratulations on an early night and getting some books put away!

I do something like that, too.
I finally give myself permission not to do the thing I think I'm 'supposed' to do, and then find myself actually going and... doing it.
I wish I could give myself permission 'not to do my work' at 2.20pm, but that doesn't really work.

Recycler CI 9:25pm EST

Hi!

Today:  gym, work, took care of a couple financial things, put things in car trunk for tomorrow, went to other support group.

Next:  brush teeth, read recovery literature.

Have a great night, everyone! :)

Recycler

Thank you, gals & guys, for being here! :)

I think your clock is fast

I's not yet 9:25pm EDT over where I am. :)

pro's home-from-work CI - 6:50pm

I want to get to bed early tonight, but I also want to get some things done:

1. Open mail.
2. Put away some books and select more to discard.
3. Wash dishes.

I had a very late lunch so I'm not hungry.

G Ci, 10.20am (Weds)

Wah!
Ok, trying again. Got to keep up with my check ins...

On the good side, successes, home errands have been going well -
Hole in my bedroom ceiling, finally fixed (sawing, painting, drilling - brrr brrr! Yeah! Heh).
The harddrive that got slightly fried by some bad house wiring, that I haven't wanted to touch in months, because dammit, I was gonna cry if that data wasn't recoverable, because it was (stupidly) the only copy of... everything? Family photos, documents, etc etc.
I finally took a look at, and all data recovered!
(Ridiculously easy - I guess I just didn't want to find out if it wouldn't be, which it had pretty even odds of being. *sigh* Facing fears, etc).
So that's two things literally and metaphorically hanging over me for months, dealt with.
And I haven't been <i>late</i> late to work in the past couple of weeks either.

On the - to improve side.
Work. Of course.
So, check in for today:
13 units for TH project
Tidy up and away project 2.
Get timesheets up to date (*shudder* My nemesis...)
Evaluate work-load on CD project.

sounds good g

back up on the horse.

Journey 4:30 and a WoW comment!

k, I'm ready for the training tomorrow.  I'm running out of steam for today . .. I think I'll spend the next hour doing some of the yearly online training that my company requires . . . it's easy stuff, privacy, ethics, good business practices.  Good time to get it out of the way.

Tonight, I need to stop by the pharmacy, remind dd that she's heating up a casserole for dinner, and spend half an hour doing laundry and dishes.  Then I'm free to play WoW.

For my fellow WoWers I just reached LEVEL 40!!!!!
That means I get my mount.  I think I'm going to wait until this weekend to get it, just to savor the anticipation for a few days.  I'm trying to decide if I want the green or the purple raptor.

Hi Journey!

e late evening i-screwed-up check out

I forgot that the post office closes by 2 pm in Greece, so - you guessed it! - I am filing my taxes TOMORROW! I suppose it is not technically late, because I don't have to file until June 15th, but I have had the @#^&** stuff in hand for a week now, but I wanted the originals to file. Of course, my kindred-procrastinator tax guy has not yet sent me the originals as promised, so... I put it off. I have done 90 percent of putting everything together: I just need to double check it. I could have gone to the airport postoffice, but I took care of other people's needs this evening. Just once, I would like to say I am going to do something for myself and then STICK WITH WHAT i SAID! Why are my needs less important to me than those of others?

grumble...

hey e!

Now you're upset because you didn't get your taxes in a MONTH EARLY!  I think the pot is calling the kettle black here lol . ..

Wait a minute . . .that's TWO MONTHS early!
I think you can slack off for a couple days . . .

Financial Statement - first part
File everything on table
File everything on desk
Pay car
Pay car ins.
Pay little bills
Corral receipts to post
Supper
Kitchen
Put this on notepad
Check in later  (I'll forget if I don't write it down!)

God help us all have productive day. Amen
love to all

Wore myself out

X Laundry - about 4 loads
X Financial statement - almost done
X File everything on table
X File everything on desk (mostly)
X Supper/Kitchen
X Notepad

Good day! I feel good about what I got done.
Now off to bed.  zzzzzzzz

woo hoo peggasue

nice day!

First timer

Hi, this is Kim.  I won't even pretend that my taxes are anywhere near in order to file.  But here's what I'm putting out there:

Today, I will...

- Send a resume and cover letter to (2) organizations
- Follow up with a phone call re: a company I've sent my resume to
- Walk my dogs and enjoy the sunshine

And, I'm sure.. PROCRASTINATE.  But get closer to my goals, thanks to this program.

Kim

welcome kim!

welcome kim

and you can celebrate Procrastination Day by filing an extension! (if you haven't, like me in past years, procrastinated on getting that form....)

This is a great place to be: there is lots of support, good humor, philosophical pondering, and actual goals being met. Keep posting!

thanks for the kind welcome!

THis is so calming.  I've just sent one letter off to a potential employer. (usually it takes me 48 hours to draft a resume and cover letter).  Now, I'm about to follow up with a phone call about another position.

I think I used to put things off because I was worried about nailing it and getting things just right.  I have a mac and downloaded the "TEA TIMER" --- I give myself (thx to your articles) 15 minutes to just do it!

Also add to list:
* get my mail (it has been over a week) -- with all my debt, I'm bad about getting my mail!  freaked out to open the box, that there might be bad news there.

Thanks for your support! and right back atcha

Kim

Journey 2:00 pm

Club tax stuff taken care of, and took care of some stuff that came up in regards to the weekend planning.  I'm going to do one more quick task for the club, then review some stuff that I need for cross-training a colleague tomorrow.  Back at 4.

Journey 12:30

Just got out of a long meeting which was a total waste of time productivity wise, although probably had some team building benefits.

Now to file a tax form for my toastmaster's club, which is not due until MAY 15 but the club president keeps asking me about it.  I think he believes it's due today.  Anyway, I'm just going to do it now.

Back at 1 . . .

I'm Just Going to Do It Now

Jo, are you sure you are still a procrastinator?

lol e

Ha Ha I'm not sure I've ever actually said that before!  This site must be helping.

Journey 10:30 arrrggghhh totally off track

I don't know what happened to the last hour!  I went for a coffee break and then just drifted off into the ozone for an hour.   Journey slaps herself in the forehead and shouts "Wake Up!" .

OK, getting back on track now.

Jo

lol jo

you guys are lifting my spirits today with your jovial slant on life.  And i really need that pick-me-up.

Everyone needs a good slap in the head every once in a while, jo.  Good work.

Lark @ 9:28am

Main things today are going to the dentist and filing an extention for my taxes. The later is half procrastination, half financial. Ssince I don't know how I'll be when I return, I'll do a "to do" list then. However, I must do one section of a work project.  By the way, (continuing my turquoise paint excess story), I found a couple of old chairs and a lamp to paint. Perhaps Pro and I can start a business for selling both books and things painted turquoise!

Lark @2:07pm

I need to focus on one work project, and fill in waiting time on the next project. "Don't get distracted." If I go to my 12 step meeting tonight I'm just going to take a basket of clothes to the laundry That's all for now. Bye.

lol lark

When I first read this I thought it said " If I go to my 12 step meeting tonight I'm just going to take a basket of laundry with me"  I thought you were going to fold clothes during the meeting.  Maybe not such a bad idea lol.

Jo

“The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.” - Stephen Covey

lol me too!

I have seen people knit, cross stitch, crochet at meetings,, but never fold laundry!

Journey 9 am

Good morning!

I've been to the gym and read my email.  I also mailed off a signature form that I HOPE is the last step in getting my reimbursement from SL.  This has taken months and I'm not even sure if it's worth it.  For all the time I have spent on this issue, i could have gotten a part time job and earned the same amount of money lol.

Yesterday was a good day, and I'm hoping today will be the same.  First thing to do is get a cuppa and process email, then set my MITs for the day.

Doug?

Hi Doug, we have enjoyed your comments - I hope the reason you are going to be less visible is because you're doing well!

Douglas, don't say it was the Burritos!

I hope that all is well with you in your world: I will miss you bunches! Come back if you can!

pro's CI - 8:15am (already did my workout)

I'm back from my 7am workout. I can't believe I did it!

Now let's see how fast I can get dressed and ready for work. I don't shower at the gym because I live so close.

It's a pretty morning outside! I actually like getting up early - as long as I go to bed early enough the night before. When I don't get enough sleep, it's no fun at all.

gym clothes peeled off, shower water on

Really, I feel more like putting books away or perhaps washing the dishes, but I will get dressed before anything else. I need to get to work on time - more or less. Then I can leave early and do this stuff AFTER work.

gotta do something about these books...

The book mess in my apartment is preventing me from doing anything else - even watering the plants. I want to upgrade the PA Web site and add a more feature-rich chat program, plus I have a major update I want to do to two other Web sites I own. But I can't do a thing until I deal with these books.

Oh, and forget about taxes or all that stuff. If I don't free up space in here, I can't do it.

Pro -- about the books

I heard that this bookstore takes book donations for prisoners  via a program called "New York City Books Through Bars".

It appears that the drop-off location is temporarily located in Brooklyn, as mentioned on this link.

I know you don't want to carry all those books anywhere. I don't know if the store will pick them up from you or not, but it's worth a phone call to find out.

Even if they can't pick up the books, maybe they know somebody who can.

books are easy to give away

There are all kinds of places I can give away the books. What I really would like is to sell them. I've thought about amazon.com, but that takes a long time. Another possibility is to sell them in batches on eBay. Or lug them over to Strand books, but they won't buy them all and they don't pay much. I'm not sure. I don't want to lug them far just to give them to prisoners (not a group I care that much about).

book selling - half.com

half.com has been bought by ebay but it still runs separately.  It's really easy to sell books on there.  You just enter the code thingy - I can't think of what it's called, the book id bar code number, and it figures shipping and everything for you.  All you have to do is put it in a padded envelope and mail it.   I've actually sold a few books there, although it was still hard to part with them.

Jo

half.com versus amazon.com

That sounds similar to how amazon.com works. I've sold books there before. The problem is that it can take a long time for a book to sell. Did you find this on half.com? On amazon, there are many other sellers so you're competing.

half.com

Yep, there's a lot of competition!

kromer 7:20 CI

I have a paper draft that needs to be finished by 2pm.

I really, *really*, don't feel like working on it, but I care about how I do in the class, so I need to focus.
->I'm going to work on it until 8:45, talking myself through it in the chatbox, and will try to get 4 pages done by then. (at about 3.5, not too bad)
->Then, I'll walk to campus, go to cashier's office, proofread spanish composition, email 2 questions about expt., go to spanish class. (Will go to cashier's office after spanish)
->Then, I'll finish up a super-rough version of my paper by 12:30.
->Then I'll do the reading for my class + go to advisor mtg
->Finally, I'll proofread my paper and go to bio class at 2!

After bio class, I need to:
->Discuss presentation
->set up for expt
->print out biochem lect. notes+exam practice, econ exam practice
->Fold laundry
->Clean bathroom
->Do Spanish HW for Thurs
->1 hr biochem studying

I can do this! Good luck today, all.

kromer 11:50 CI

OK, did all the non-paper finishish stuff I need to do this morning, now I'm on facebook rather than finishing this paper! Come on, self, it needs to be done in a little more than an hour.

Turning on internet blocker, working in chatbox, aim to have 4 pages done by 12:15

kromer 4:15 CI

Finished draft (not my best work, but OK), went to mtg, went to class, discussed paper

Next up:
*print out stuff for classes
*Remember to check email/phone every hour
*prep for expt
***pick BLT concentrations

***label tubes
***Do calculations
***Make solutions
***Figure out my schedule for tomorrow's expt.
*walk home
*fold laundry
*clean bathroom
*check in again

kromer 9:30 CI

stuck on campus until 11 b/c I might have to do sth else for lab. So can't do last few things on my list.

update 10:20--gone over 1/2 of chol. notes
