ok so everythings gone to hell once again and i finally decided to get some help, 7kindsofsmoke is from the movie you, me and Dupree and im hoping this is the day i blow "7 kinds of smoke!" (appropriate kung fu moves). Theres alot of Dupree in me although im quite a bit more negative than that guy - i wish i had his positivity. I'm like Dupree on prozac.
I feel like the guy in that old horror story where he is trapped in a room that gets almost imperceptibly smaller every day (cant remember the name but it really stuck with me). The difference between me and him is that he tried everuthing he could to get out and my walls are my own creation.
so here goes the bookend - today i will accomplish the following:
shower shave, clean room and kitchen
call Sam
work out what the hell is going on with my assignments (i dont even know when they are due)
call parents
now everyone clap and say "I do believe in faeries, I do! I do!"
no?
come on its the only form of procreation they have.
If you ever teach a yodeling class, probably the hardest thing is to keep the students from just trying to yodel right off. You see, we BUILD to that.
I believe creativity is the mother of procrastination. That's why you'll find such vivid imaginations as your own in these ranks. I mean, the problem is that we can think of 10 things to do at any given moment, and 8 of them are fun! No wonder it's hard to ferret out that one greatly important thing that needs our attention....
Yodeling, now that's a subject. I agree it's best left to the experts.
Hope you get your mojo workin'. This bookending has helped me a lot, I recommend it highly.
I really just have fun, relaxing stuff to do tonight, but even on that sort of thing I can find myself procrastinating -- ex. find that I've just spent the whole evening on mental cruise control, surfing the web or something, when I could have been doing something more enjoyable and restorative. So, tonight:
I've been putting off sending a form to the state to get a check for $148 that was lost in the mail. Just one form, send it in and I'd get a check. I put off doing taxes even when I'm gonna get a refund! What's that about??? Try to have fun this weekend, and do some stuff on your list!
I finished the costume! Once I got started, I just kept going and (as usual) it didn't take nearly as long as I expected. Getting started is always the hard part. My dh will be so happy (he does clay parts, head, hands, shoes, and stuffs body, I do costume, and he finished his part weeks ago).
I am so happy! This is SO NOT like me! Saying prayer that everyone gets lots done today!
I am starting on doll costume. My lists are very short because I've been very sick last 6 mo's, just now getting energy back. I actually put "nap" on my to-do list so I can cross it off and feel like I am accomplishing something! hehe I thought it would be a piece of cake to get back into the swing of things with just 1 or 2 items on my list all day -- nope, it's just as hard. That's why it's 11:30 and I'm just now starting on my ONLY task of the day.
It's like I have a BUGGER (disgusting word!) in my head whose only job is to say NO to anything I think about doing. It's like I'm hearing this dialogue in my head for the first time in a long time and I am amazed! For instance, Thought: I think I'll brush my teeth. Bugger: No wait, finish your coffee first. Thought: I think I'll make the bed. Bugger: No wait, get dressed first. Thought: I'll RSVP this party invitation. Bugger: No wait and do it after you talk to dh one more time, are you sure about this? (We already talked.)
It's enough to make you crazy! So I spotted this little stuffed toy on my bookcase, a little toy man dressed in black, I think it's a dracula, that my grandson got from McDonald's years ago and I think I'll set him up on my desk and name him Bugger. Every time he speaks I'll SLAP him and tell him to SHUT UP! I won't let BUGGER run my life!! wha-hahaha.......evil laughter............

I can certainly identify with Rexroth this morning: many things to do, but only a few which NEED to be done. One work project needs to be finished for Monday, so I need to focus on it as much as possible. My kitchen needs to be painted by mid-week for insurance inspection, so I think I'll finish one wall by tonight. That should motivate me to finish the rest. These and a couple of 15 minute cleaning sprees will keep me busy till lunch.
- Washed dishes from yesterday (weren't too many). - Laid out pills for the day. - Cleaned toilet. - Wiped under big appliance on kitchen counter. - Spot-cleaned bathroom floor. - Made coffee (well, largely uncaffeinated - more tea). - Spot cleaned bedroom floor (after I knocked over a glass of water). - Made breakfast. - Opened table (in preparation for working on pile).
I'm eating breakfast now.

I got up at 6am again today. I always piddle away the first hour I'm awake. Getting up an hour earlier lets me do that without being late. I'm also hoping I'll be able to get a little bit of pile work done before work - just 15 minutes would be good.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Procrastination is the grave in which opportunity is buried.
Learning to get up earlier is one of the best things I've ever done for myself. I have to set two alarm clocks, but I do crawl outta bed at 5 am most days.
Sounds like a lot of people on this board are like me - hate to go to bed, hate to get up. I have to just MAKE myself go to bed at a reasonable time. I'd really like to stay up late and sleep late but that's not conducive to getting stuff done.
What a muddle I wake up to this morning. I remind myself that I don't have to do everything today and I can do something.
