Friday evening
Hi all,
Julie, I sympathize with how overwhelming the start of the school year is! A friend of mine calls this time of year the "Greater September Area" -- that congested spell that runs from mid-August through October. Hang in there!
Nan, have you read any of Martha Beck's books? She got through an entire dissertation by committing to just 15 minutes a day, because she couldn't get motivated to do more than that.
I came home today feeling frustrated because I procrastinated on a bunch of things at work. I'm tempted this evening to fall into old patterns of surfing the net, wasting time and feeling depressed.
Instead, I'm going to:
Falcon
Done! And feeling much
Done! And feeling much better. Good night everyone!

Very hot and humid here, so I'm sluggish as al get out. Still not posting official lists yet today, but things are getting done--for now. Thanks.l
Bookend: the meaning of vacation
My dad is still here. I had trouble doing what I bookended on here yesterday -- even though it was just ONE thing. 15 minutes of "writing" on my dissertation. I am having some feelings of shame, also of trying to justify.
Fact is, I stayed up late to surf the internet and rest my brain after an intense day of feelings around my dad and other stuff.
It's just a lot.
So for today, we're going to see my future mother-in-law so she can meet my dad.
I'm not going to bookend school work because I don't know if I will actually get to it today.
One thing at a time.
to do:
be in the present.
don't overeat to calm my nerves.
keep checking in here and with others from my other program/s.
Blessings.

Hi Nan
That's a good comment you made about not bookending the schoolwork if you didn't think you'd be able to do it. We too often set ourselves up for failure by doing thngs like that. I think a good way of using this program to to post on what we can practically do, and then post again when we've accomplished those things. Thanks.

I'm back having bought almost everything I need for my trip. I need to unpack and check it and check what else I need. Some of the things I have bought at almost the last moment I could have bought months ago.
Hi Rex
Just wanted to tell you that I'm so impressed by all your work. You are doing it ODAT. And I really appreciate how you've been starting the thread each day.
Where are you going on your trip? You've got me curious. :)
Keep on keeping on!
Nan
Hi Nan
Thanks for your support. I suspect I start the thread as I'm in the UK. As for where I am going I want to keep my anonymity so I'll just say Africa for a month. I'm visiting some charity projects and looking at things relevant to my craft/hobby and maybe having a rest and an adventure. I remember from many years of DA people saying "It works if you work it" and as far as I did it did.
