OK, I have a lot of work, and I really don't want to do it. But, I know that motivation follows action, so I'm gonna suck it up and get started.

I need to:
*Do my lab mtg write-up. This means:
->Update section on RA measurements. Adding a few lines on new data and where to go from here.
->Update stuff on EA's project
->Add/update stuff on Stra8, Rec8 measurements
->Update/condense section on RAR, RXR measurements
->Add section on Win18,446
->Update section on Rec8
->Write next steps
->Write executive summary
->Proof and send
Work on lab meeting slides. This means: (didn't get to any of this)
*Make new intro slide
*Put together slides for S8
*Copy over slide on RA levels
*Buy stuff for church potluck and for W's cake (made a shopping list for this)
*Dose

Gwen D: 2:27 PM Job

My freelance job. I like doing it very much. I definitely will need the money. I suppose I could spend time asking why I'm so stuck, but I bet I just have to do the work.

Man, I hate the word "just". It is such an insult.

I will turn off the weird radio show, read a couple pages of the Piers book, then come right back in 10 minutes to record the task list needed to get this work done. TODAY.

Well, I did go back to the program I knew how to use and boy is this better.

I can see my path.

Gwen D: Job Goal and Tasks

I am keeping this list here for the moment because making it public to you motivates me. I intend to delete this shortly.

The goal is to have a 16 page doc, containing 21 features that vary in size from 131 words to 955 words.

They need to be presented in four different sections, so they need varying types of labels.

There should be a TOC.

I am working in Pages for the first time, and the reason I think I chose to do that is so that sometime in the future, the client will be able to write directly in the template. So I need to make the template self explanatory and easy to use.

I need to customize each existing template page. Or duplicate it, edit it, save it as a page, then delete the existing page type before I save the document as a template. Right.

It might be good to make the page templates first, then create the document and link the text boxes, then lay in all the corrected text in the order it should be in.

It might be helpful to draw the pages and estimate length of features and section markers.

I also have to do a little bit of research and a tiny bit of editing. I need to create floating boxes, or standard styles for displaying the five specifications for each feature consistently across the doc, at the end of each feature.

Tasks, redefined

Thinking I should start from scratch...Deleting my too long comments. (Sorry!) Seems I can't delete anything. (Really sorry!)

Small objectives

I don't think I'm up to devising a whole timetable yet - I'm just a beginner at anti-procrastination.

But I am going to

  • wash the kitchen floor
  • tear up some of the bindweed
  • buy my sister-in-law's birthday present
