Procrastinators Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from chronic procrastination.
Well, that food break turned out to be the end of my work day. I made dinner, ate dinner, and then .... {{{drum roll}}} created the P.A. meeting materials, which can be found here.
The meeting materials include two lists that I think people will find useful: Signs of Compulsive Procrastination and P.A. Tools for Recovery. Often newcomers ask where to get started. This summarizes all the things we've been learning here.
There are some important things I didn't get to today, but I feel okay about the day because I handled things in priority order.

Make bed (convert futon back into couch).
Shower and dress.
Take out pills for the day.
Make and eat breakfast.
Take pills (dose 1 of 3).
Put in contacts.
Pick up mail.

Talked to Web dev job placement person, and made an appointment for an interview tomorrow.
Filled out application form online.
Volunteered to call voters tomorrow, encourage them to vote.
Entered all my piling-up appointments into Outlook.
Cleared my spam folder (and fished out a few important misfiled messages.
Send cover letter and resume to hiring person about another freelance job.
Went through Inbox and found some other items I needed to handle.
Rescheduled some things for my next trip north.
Made and ate dinner.
Created the P.A. meeting materials, and posted them on the Web site.
I feel like I've been sitting too long - need to move around. I might go take a walk. It doesn't matter that it's dark. Bleecker Street will still be very busy.
When I lived in the country, it wasn't comfortable taking walks at night because it was really dark - no street lights. That's good for sky gazing, but not for nighttime walking.
I meant to take a break, but then didn't because in going through my calendar I realized I had some scrambled appointments to sort out. So it seems I'll be going to New England next week - a week earlier than originally planned.

I've been working for 2.5 hours, and now I want to take another short break. I guess that's okay. I usually drive myself without mercy (which probably has something to do with why I have trouble getting started). I'm also hungry - need something to eat.

I just finished entering all my appointments and commitments into Outlook. I hadn't been doing that, and they were starting to pile up. If I don't enter my appointments, I forget where I'm supposed to be.
Now I simply must get through my spam folder because I haven't done it in so long, and I don't know what might have gotten misfiled in there.
I'm late checking in (was going to check in at 2pm) because I've had a little flurry of activity. I got a call from a employment broker (I guess that's what you'd call him) who places people in freelance Web development jobs. I'd contacted them last week. I have an interview tomorrow at 4pm.
I had to fill out an online job application that included two references. I forgot about references. That was a bit disconcerting.
I also volunteered to make "get out the vote" calls tomorrow for moveon.com - do my bit to ensure we get a democratic congress to put some checks and balances on the stupidest and most dangerous president this country has ever had.

I got some book I ordered in the mail, and I'd like to take a little time to look them over so I'm going to take a break for an hour. I know that arguably my whole life is a break, but I'm going to do it anyway. I did get dressed right away - that's something. I'll set the timer for one hour.
I had trouble getting to sleep last night, so I got up late - a little past 9am. I took a shower and made my bed before breakfast again, though I really didn't feel like it. I think this is a good thing to go - gets me moving fastest by doing the part I don't like first.

exercise
I could take a walk, and/or I could do my Pilates, which I haven't been doing. My back hurts quite a bit, and Pilates is great for the back.

I got a phone call from the person I owe work to. I really do need to start that today.
