Procrastinators Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from chronic procrastination.

Lucca's recovery

I’ve noticed that my procrastination manifests not only in getting through my day-to-day responsibilities, but also in the other ‘secondary’ projects and tasks that never seem to get done. Indeed, I’ve been meaning to get down to work on some of these for literally years! With that in mind I’ve decided to keep a log of my progress (or lack thereof!) regarding these areas of my life on a week-to-week basis.

Weekly goals:

  1. Work 40 hours
  2. Project ART
  3. Project ACT
  4. Driving lessons
  5. Cross-training

Thanks to anyone who might be taking thetime to read this! I hope you’re all doing well on your own journies! Wink

Hugs,

Lucca

Week 7: Monday 14 - Sunday 20

Hello all,

37 hours logged this week... still slightly short of my target.... but I got a lot done nonetheless... I've come to realise that getting work done at the weekend is a weakpoint, and I either need to cover more during the week or make clearer plans - that won't be interfered with by other weekend activities like cleaning etc - if I am to stay on track...

The week ahead will be a bit tricky, as I'm travelling all week for work, and I know it can be hard to keep a clear picture of just how much work has been done when you're bouncing from place to place and meeting to meeting... I'll keep this pag update, though...

More importantly, I'm STILL procrastinating on doing the driving lessons I need to get done.... get on it Lucca!!

Hugs to all,

Lucca,

Week 6: Monday 7 - Sunday 13

Hello again everyone!

This week I logged a total of  36 hours... I can see a pattern that I fall a little short of logging 40 full hours, as I leave things to finish off at the weekend, and then when the weekend comes I leave them until monday... weekend productivity is LOW... something to work on... but I also have to remember that I deserve a bit of R&R now and again too!  Thanks everyone who reads this!

Hugs,

Lucca

Week 5: Monday 28 - Sunday 6

Two update at once... I got caught up in work (surprisingly) and never made my update last week... anyway, on the week running Monday 28th to Sunday 6th I logged 37 hours of work... I've started keeping a timer by my desk and 'punching in' and 'punching out' when I work, which I've found very useful... I feel like I'm making progress... still not working a my full potential, but definitely on the road!

 Hugs to everyone!

Week 4: Mon 21 - Sun 27

As expected, last week wasn't exactly the most productive, as looking after guests visiting from abroad kept me tied up for four days... I put in a total of 21 hours of work on the three days before they arrived, though... so it wasn't completely disastrous... I've been getting busy with catching up this morning, and I'm committing to putting in 40 hours of good quality work this week...

Thanks for reading!

All the best,

Lucca

Week 3: Mon 14 Feb - Sun 20 Feb

Hello folks! Well, I'm super-happy to say I clocked just over 40 hours of work this week... I feel really good about it... I think using this forum is really helping me... I still haven't taken any steps on my driving license issue - I wonder why that seems to hold so much fear for me? Hmmmm...

Anyway, it feels like such a relief to confirm that I really can make changes and overcome my procrastination! I also read 'The Now Habit' which I found very useful... especially the stuff about 'the flow state'... I can see that my problem is getting started... once I get going, I can be very productive indeed...

The week ahead is unlikely to be quite as productive as the week just gone, as I have visitors landing on Wednesday, and they're staying through Sunday... and needless to say, they'll require a bit of looking after... I'm not going to use their visit as an excuse to turn my back on work altogether, though, which is what I would have done in the past...

Thanks anyoen/everyone who reads this... god bless PA!

Hugs,

Lucca

Week 2: Mon 7 Feb - Sun 13 Feb

Hello PA friends!

Well, this week went a bit better than last... I put in 30 hours of work, all in, which is a lot better than last week, but still well short of my 40 hour targets...

I also didn't make any progress on getting driving lessons -something I've been putting off forever - so that will be something to make a point of this week..

I hope you're all doing well, and your recoveries are blossoming!

All the best,

Luke

Go Lucca!

Don't focus on how you were still short this week- focus on how you did 10 more hours this week! That is a 50% increase! You could have been bummed last week at your 20 hours and done less this week, but you DIDN'T! And I bet this week you will do even better :)

Sending encouragement :)

Week 1: Mon 31 January - Sun 06 February

Hello everyone!

Well folks, I'm afraid this week has shown me more about how badly I still procrastinate than how much 'progress' I've made... I barely put in 20 hours of work over the course of the week - far short of my goal of 40...

This was largely down to the fact that my relationship has been going through a rough patch, and I've been feeling a bit down... which I used as an excuse to do nothing... a big fat case of the 'poor me's! Anyway, another week starts tomorrow, so it's time to pick myself up, brush myself off, and start again..

Hugs,

Lucca

Hey Lucca, Hope you're doing

Hey Lucca,

Hope you're doing a bit better. Take care of yourself... at least you did something hard even at a difficult time. 20 hours even! That shows great potential.

:)
