fudoshin: day 4 : 10:19
Please do not leave advice. Thank you. Prayers welcome.
This is the fourth day that I have followed through with the following:
"I'm making a pledge to quit using the dating site(s) and Facebook for
90 days. I had written this on my 43things account, but I wrote that I
wanted to avoid dating sites for a full six months, so I think 90 days
is reasonable for a dating site. I also have a penchant for looking at
and stalking this one person, which has prevented me from sanity. Just
all out stalking this person has been all out crazy. For the past few
days I have visited his profile, even though I'm not actually on the
dating site. So part of my whole thing with quitting dating sites is
also quitting stalking people's profiles that I've tried to date in the
past. If I accidentally load a dating site, b/c I accidentally clicked
on something obviously that doesn't count. You can hardly hang a cat on
the Internet without hitting a dating site ad. Intention is
everything. "
In other words:
I saw Peau d'Ane. I'm going to check my mail tomorrow to see if my EDD check has come in. For now I'm going to jog and commit to at least 30 minutes of my walking and running segment, tonight, and then I plan on doing something similar tomorrow. I am going to do the recycle tomorrow to get cash. I will also eat rice for breakfast and vitamins. There is a brunch served at 2pm, which should keep me sustained. I'm very nervous about going on this date with this person tomorrow. I just want to show up, be myself and be open to whatever happens. I am appointing the Higher Power in this journey with this person. I turn this over to the Higher Power completely. It's all up to the HP. I need to stop thinking that it means anything. I'm just meeting him. It's not a big deal. Also, I need to keep showing up for myself, keep doing my work, so that I can put the emphasis in my life where it needs to be, on procuring a happy, stable, successful life for myself that does not depend on others.

Since we have so many cat lovers (I am admittedly more of a dog person and don't have a cat...but I like them) here's a reading that uses a cat:
If you realize you aren't so wise today as you thought you were yesterday, you're wiser today.
—Olin Miller
Smug was a kitten who thought she knew everything. She knew how to clean
herself with her sandpaper tongue, how to sleep, eat, and keep warm, and
how to sharpen her tiny claws. One day, her mother wanted to teach Smug
to climb trees. I don't need to learn this, thought Smug, I already
know everything I need to know. Without much interest, Smug watched her
mother climb a tall tree and come down again. When it was Smug's turn,
she said, "I'll stay on the ground where it's safe." Just then, a large
black dog came trotting around the corner.
Aren't we often like Smug, certain that we know all we need to know, or that we really don't
need to know something another is trying to teach us? When we rid
ourselves of the pride that keeps us from learning these things, we'll
feel a little safer if any big black dogs come around the corner. And we
will have grown smarter by recognizing our need to know more.
Am I smart enough to admit my need to learn more today?
From Today's Gift: Daily Meditations for Families
And here's a second reading that resonated with me too:
PA. Thought for the Day
To grasp the PA program, we have to think things out. Saint Paul said,
"They are transformed by the renewing of their minds." We have to learn
to think straight. We have to change from compulsive procrastinating thinking to nonprocrastinating or "sober"
thinking. We must build up a new way of looking at things.
Before we came into PA, we wanted an artificial life of excitement and
everything that goes with compulsively procrastinating -- pulling all nighters, doing things with seconds to spare, doing all the "interesting" things we like rather than the mundane things we need to do for our lives. That kind of a life looked normal to
us then. But as we look back now, that life looks the exact opposite of
normal. In fact, it looks most abnormal. We must reeducate our minds.
Am I changing from an abnormal thinker to a normal thinker?
Meditation for the Day
I will take the most crowded day without fear. I believe that God is with
me and controlling all. I will let confidence be the motif running
through all the crowded day. I will not get worried, because I know that
God is my helper. Underneath are the everlasting arms. I will rest in
them, even though the day is full of things crowding in upon me.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that I may be calm and let nothing upset me. I pray that I may not
let material things control me and choke out spiritual things.
Thanks for the readings!
I've been trying to figure out why procrastination could be an addictive behavior, it's been so long since I've felt that high of getting something done at the last second. The reading really helped me make some connections.

Extremely unfocused and scatterbrained this morning. Having a hard time deciding what I should do. I was going to try to tackle a pile of amorphous stuff that has gathered on my desk, but realize that I'm not in a good decision making frame of mind.
Not sure how to get myself going today. Perhaps I'll do a 'mind dump' sometimes that helps.
Will check in later when I've made some progress

Journey 10 am
Good morning and Happy Friday! Things are getting busy around work again, I was happy to have 6 weekends in a row off, but sadly that is not to continue. I have this coming weekend off then it's back to working almost every weekend for a while.
However, I am pretty much ahead of the game so far this year so I should be able to keep my work hours to a reasonable amount, especially if I can use my work time to actually work and avoid a lot of dithering, goofing off, and freaking out . It is nice to feel that I have actually 'earned' my time off and relaxation time. Although I will emphasize that it is important to allow yourself time off and relaxation whether you feel that you 'deserve' it or not. Oddly enough, once I started allowing myself some time off I was able to work more and better.
I'm sleepy this morning and not wanting to get started, but I've been to the gym and read email and checked calendar. No todo list yet, I'm gonna do that right now!
