Got up early as I couldn't sleep. Struggling with feelings about the separation and my marriage. Not going so well. Craving escape. Did some domestic things but then wasted the best part of an hour reading a comic book I bought as a gift for my son. Also I am scheduling domestic stuff like making jam when I need to be doing paid work.
Have done meditation and bike ride (exercise).

Here's the reading for today - this one's on action and making choices and shaping and molding our lives:
Once I knew that I wanted to be an artist,
I had made myself into one. I did not understand that wanting doesn't
always lead to action. Many of the women had been raised without the
sense that they could mold and shape their own lives, and so, wanting to
be an artist (but without the ability to realize their wants) was, for
some of them, only an idle fantasy, like wanting to go to the moon. —Judy Chicago
There
are probably not many of us, in this recovery program, who grappled
with life as straight on as Judy Chicago did. It is likely we didn't
understand that we could mold and shape our lives. How lucky we are to
be learning that now with the help of the Twelve Steps and one another.
Each day we are confronted with many opportunities to make responsible
choices, reasonable decisions. These choices and decisions are the
molders, the shapers, of who we are becoming. Our identity is
strengthened each time we thoughtfully make a choice. The action we take
through making each choice gives our identity more substance--our
wholeness as women is guaranteed through these choices.
Affirmation/Prayer: Many
opportunities to make choices will arise today. I can be thoughtful and
make choices that will lead to my greater wholeness.
Done:
Up prayer and reflection
A very little study of French
Out to a new 12 step meeting and not feeling great about it but promised myself if that it all I do today it would be enough
Attended the meeting - came home and overcome with feelings
Researched some of the subject on the web
Checked emails and am making some progress in my life
Good morning! I was at the gym at 6:30 this morning. My goal is to get there at 6:15 (or earlier) but since I'm doing an easy week 6:30 wasn't too bad. Today was weight day and I wanted to do about half of my normal exercises, so I did the ones I like and skipped the ones I don't like doing . That means that on Thursday I have to do all the ones I hate haha. Not really, of course, that would be pretty de-motivating. I'll add the hard/uncomfortable ones back in a few at a time. Some of the ones I don't like aren't hard really but they are in the "weight room" with all the hardcore body building dudes and I feel foolish and out of place in there.
I was quite productive yesterday and I'd like to be just as productive today! Here goes!
Update 11 am. I've done some admin stuff and now it's time to work on closure documentation for the project I finished up at the end of last year. The official end date is 1/11, and I have to finish up all the doc this week. I'ts boring, and I'm not sure how to do it all. Bookending working on the project closure document including the budget stuff <ugh!> for the next hour.

I am grateful for another day to put things in perspective,
to clear away the things that I do not need, to see and accept who I am, and to
see and accept who others are.
