And to all the southern-hemispherians - HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SPRING!!!!!!! YAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

up too late

I didn't get to sleep until after 4am. Bad. I procrastinated on going to bed, and when I finally did go to bed I couldn't fall asleep right away.

pro's CI - 10:25pm

Well, let's see... Here's what I accomplished today:

  • Got MS Money 2007 to sync with my Pocket PC (involved finding the beta for v2.6 of Spb Finance that works with MS Money 2007, and figuring out that I couldn't plug the Pocket PC into a USB hub).
  • Investigated synchronization software on the Mac - read reviews of the two main contenders.
  • Found Microsoft Office for the Mac cheap and bought it.
  • Installed Microsoft Office Test Drive for the Mac to play with until version I bought arrives.
  • Explored Entourage (it's better than Outlook - has Projects and a Scrapbook).
  • Learned about hidden files on the Mac.
  • Found and installed several useful Mac utilities - one of which was shareware and I purchased (others were free).
  • Resolved billing address mix-up on the credit card used in PayPal to pay for eBay items.
  • Checked email (but did not empty spam folder).
  • Got dressed.
  • Bought something to eat for dinner.
  • Went to an AA meeting.

I emptied spam

For over an hour an half. I couldn't just clear the spam folder because I had ordered some books on ADD as well as GTD and The Now Habit from Amazon. I didn't realize I already had an account, but when I tried to register it reminded me that I did. I didn't remember the password, so they had to send it to me. It never came. It finally dawned on me that it went to the bulk mail folder. I had over 6500 messages in there! :O I had never seen any reason to empty that folder because it happens automatically monthly and it's (usually) only spam. I should have known better after your experience with the mac! To make matters unbearable, I found spam in the folder that is dated for years ahead, so I couldn't even get to today's date without going through oodles and oodles of spam from either direction. Grr!

You got lots, done, Pro. I hope the time you spent on your mac will prove useful to you in the long run and has been pleasurable for you today. Might make those clients easier to bear next week! :)

misfiled spam

I find misfiled messages in the spam folder frequently enough that I know I have to look. I try to do it every day. I get a lot of email and a lot of spam, so if I don't it builds up. Also, if I don't then it's too long before I see misfiled messages.

Not Spam

As you knew what you were looking for could you have just done a search for 'Amazon' on your spam folder? I do stuff like that when I'm decluttering my Email, or looking for something in particular.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Tried that

Evidently, in Yahoo the buld mail folder cannot be searched. Big bummer!

Norm 9.25 pm BE - last of the day

pro are you still on that Mac? I know you got it to use it, and you ~have~ been using it! I dare you not to time binge on it any more today!

Travel safely, Normy

and have a good time! :)

lost in mac space, again

I'm playing with my new Mac today, and I'm gonna let myself do it for a while. Hell, why did I buy the thing if I'm never going to let myself use it?

Choose wisely, grasshopper!

Nothing wrong with enjoying your new toy! Only, is there anything else that you NEED to get done? If so, better devote at least a little time to it. How do you like your frog legs served?

Frogs' Legs

LOL! I said something similar too, but did my usual losing the post thing (oops).

pro's CI - 11am

Well... Here I am!! Just wanted to check in. I went to bed late, got up late, and have spent too long eating breakfast. But I can start my day over now, right?

slider's 9:30 am CI

Yup--noise was in sound system, which was accidentally left on since Sunday. Static builds up. Sounds frightful! While I was there I took care of one little item of business (the only one that was urgent for this morning). Now back to morning routine!
Done:
--got up at 7:30
--loo
--coffee
--cuop
--threw on real clothes & brushed hair to respond to "emergency"
--turned off sound system
--checked in with secretary
--selected hymns for Sunday for bulletin
--brought home mail

To Do:
--shower, groom, and dress
--take meds
--try to recover from bout of irritability and depression over our family situation and my hoarding and procrastination
--journal or meditate/pray
--decide what to take with me to nursing home (to do in free moments)
--leave house at 11:15
--begin today's nursing home routine
--don't forget to pick up DD after school--leave nursing home by 3:35!
--regroup

BTW--I did sign and mail the Power of Attorney for the accountant yesterday. What a relief! :) I even made a copy first. And I got the amount of voluntary withholding settled with the treasurer (who is seeking more info on the technicalities required). Taxes are getting better.

*Interruption: Emailing with sister who is having DS troubles
*Planning 3: Planned first 1-1 session
*Daytime Routine - took me a long time today partly because of all the laundry (four loads now - partly due to procrastination, partly due to DDog's bedding). Not taken DDog for a walk yet - that can happen later in the day - I need to focus on getting ready for today's clients first.
*Thin mattress thing (can't remember what they're called) was dry so I put it back on the bed (had cleaned it after DDog accident)
*Dusted altar - I don't normally let it get that bad, but when I was topping up the water offering (part of DR) I cleaned the water dish first, and one thing led to another.
*Interruption: Phone calls about some shopping someone had done for me - she said she was going to Ikea (takes a couple of hours to get there) and did I want anything. Just so happens I've had something on my list a long time, but not enough to make a special trip, so she got it for me, and I'm going to pick it up on Sunday.

Alter?

Dusted altar

What do you mean??? What kind of alter?

(am I showing my complete religious ignorance here????!)

home altar

I believe Normy was referring to a Buddhist altar. Love to hear more about your care and reverence toward your altar, Normy--but I guess that's way off-topic! 8)

Altar

If I can remember how to work my camera I'll take a pic and tell you about it in the Off Topic forum :)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Good mojo to you

Your day may be a little crowded, but it looks doable. Good luck!

Not so sure

It's not looking very do-able to me any more. Planning takes me a while (I've got three more sessions to plan), the travelling/teaching will take me about three hours, and the bit of Daytime Routine I haven't done yet will take about 40 mins. That's without taking the Project work and everything else into account. It's 3.40pm already, and I've been goofing off - probably because I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed!

I also could do with epilating today - going to a wedding tomorrow and I'm wearing a skirt.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Time to prioritize, then

And you can punish yourself for whatever didn't get done by applying the epilator! (I read somewhere that it doesn't really hurt. That true?)

Only in my dreams!

Actually, it gets better with time - I've been using an epilator for over 20 years so it's not too bad, but to say it 'doesn't hurt' would probably be misleading, LOL!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

All I can say about epilators is.....

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRR
RRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
HHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

slider's 8:30 CI

This was gonna be an 8:00 CI but I got sidetracked by cuop!
Done:
--went to bed at 1 am (very bad--I had started to go to bed but then I just resisted and went back in and turned on computer)
--Up at 7:30 (had firstplanned 6:30, but after late night changed it to 7:30)
--Coffee
--rebooted laundry (though now I expect I'll have to tumble the dryer again)
--cuop

Ack! Secretary just called because there is a roaring noise in church and I'll have to go see what it is (probably feedback in the sound system). Gotta go.

Hi Slider!

Bye Slider!

Hmm, looks like it's my turn to be on my own whilst everyone else is in bed...

I got off to a slow start, but at least I've started! :)

I've bumped 'Daytime Routine' up the list because it includes a meal, and I'm hungry!

Milo 8pm - last CI for tonight :)

Oh, well, I didn't get a few things done. The day kinda slipped away. Got off to a late start, I suppose. But I'm not stressed. I'll get groceries tomorrow and I still played with the kids, we just didn't do a craft project.

TA DA:
- got kids dressed, fed, packed and in the car
- eating pringles for breakfast...yummy but naughty...
- morning routine
- tidy up this disaster of a house (it's always bad when you have guests staying)
- made vet appointment
- had more pringles and a pepsi for lunch }:)
- 3 loads of washing
- take DDog to vet
- emailed 1 client I haven't heard back from
- scrubbed dog poo off rug (grrr...)
- played with kids and DM
- dinner
- kids to bed (one is still popping out with various 'reasons'!)

To Do:
- evening routine
- plan refreshments menu for DS's birthday party on Sunday
- figure out what else we're going to give him for presents!

Blown off:
- grocery shopping
- wash all bed linen (it's such a nice day they'll dry quickly)
- think of a craft project I can do with the kids this afternoon
- prepare for craft project (by stuff...whatever I decide to do)

Having a quiet night in with mum and DH. Hope you all have a fabulous day!!!!!

Good night Milo!

You've had a good day. Did you get any real food at all though? LOL!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Real food

Ha ha - yes, eventually! I made a beautiful mustard chicken with loads of veges for dinner. Yummy.... :)

Oh!

I also went to the shop, but it wasn't open yet.

Happy Springtime Milo! Doesn't seem weird to me, and I'm in the northern hemisphere - I think it must be a US thing.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And here's one for those of us in the northern hemisphere:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The blackberries are ripening. The leaves are beginning to fall from the trees, and there's definitely a crispness (and wetness!) in the air. 17C today, but feels a bit cooler to me. UV Low. Sunset 20:03 (I'm getting up in the dark now!)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I'm in a much better mood today. DSO and I had a good talk and can now see each other's points of view and are working as a team again.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

*Morning Routine
*Exercise class
*CUOP (including net search about seasons, LOL!)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

*Re-shuffle my plans for today so things I've goofed off this week don't get lost
(OMG - I'm just doing an Advanced Find on my Outlook Tasks to see what is due On or Before Today and it's found 59 things so far! Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting)

OK, here's a rough outline of the priorities for today:

*Session planning 1-1s
*Session planning Monday (two weeks)
*Weekly Review
*Daytime Routine
*Project 3
*Go to the yoga studio
*1-1 session
*Another 1-1
*Come home
*Meal prep/meal/clear up
*Shopping List/Shopping
*Norm-Time

I wish!

Ugh--our forcast is 101 degrees F with high humidity in Houston, but continuing drought here, two hours away. The grass is dead and dry, the ground is cracked, and the stock tanks (ponds) are very low. Pro, I hope y'all don't catch any flooding from Ernesto. I was hoping he'd come here--even though folks are still traumatized by Katrina and Rita from last year. Nonetheless, that's the only way we get any rain in the summer.

"first day of spring"?

It's so weird that you're on the other side of the world. Here we're moving into fall. Your seasons and your days are both upside down from ours.

You see totally different stars, too (I've read that - never been there).

Milo 1pm

I'm still in a good mood! I haven't achieved a lot, but it's nothing life-threatening :)

I am currently sitting outside on the lawn in the sun enjoying the weather. I am wearing very short shorts!!! Yay!!! And I have lost weight recently (stress!) so they look good. I have good pins for a mum of 2 ;)

TA DA:
- got kids dressed, fed, packed and in the car
- eating pringles for breakfast...yummy but naughty...
- morning routine

Now I'm going to hang out some washing in the sun..mmmmm....(it's been a looooooong winter for me, can you tell??????!!!).

Milo's first CI - 10am

Hello!!! It's a beautiful spring day here (going to be 26C!! I think that's about 80-85F) and I am in a great mood!!! DM and DMIL have taken DD and DS out for the morning and I'm home alone!!!

BUT I'm still in my PJs....

Hi slider! Haven't really CUOP yet but I hope you're having a nice evening. And pro & Normy hope you're both feeling better.

That's it. I am NOT making a big list today!

Joy to you!

How come today is the first day of spring? We don't count spring here on March 1st but on March 21st (vernal equinox). Similarly, it's not officially Fall yet. Just curious about the different customs! Hope today is a really good day for you, Milo! (BTW, together, we probably just made pro's head spin with our answers to figuring out what to do column!) Wish me to get the few remaining things on today's list (Thursday) done.

Spring...

Short answer? Dunno!!!!!!!! :D

You have had a good day, slider, wtg! Even if you don't get the last things done, you've had a productive day.

Yes, poor pro, I think we just confused the issue more!!!!!!

Spring

There are a number of ways of working it out here:

1) very rough, by quarter = March/April/May (which sounds like what Milo's doing)

2) astronomically, by movement of the planetary bodies = 21st March (I think it may sometimes be 22nd - I know the December one moves about a bit depending on what the moon's doing). BBC UK guide to astronomical seasons

3) by the weather/nature - it's getting autumnal here now, we're definitely in transition.

4) culturally - harvest festivals/clocks back/forward festivals etc

I'm sure there are probably other ways of working it out, but I can't think of them.

Net-surf aside: Ha Ha! I've just discovered that not only is Greenwich Mean Time (the time here in the Winter) known as Zulu Time, it's also known as Western European Time - or WET! How appropriate, LOL!
