I need to start getting ready for bed. I'm already 50 minutes late in starting. I got up late this morning, and if I start staying up late, it will just get worse. Gotta go to bed!!
I told him that I'd give him good feedback if he makes it right, and he's making it right (letting me return it for a full refund, and reimbursing me for shipping costs), so I'll give him good feedback.
I placed an order for a MacBook on amazon.com already - which is what I should have done in the first place. I'm packing up the one the eBay guy sent me to mail back tomorrow. It's a pain. It's also a little nerve-wracking that I spent another $1000 before getting the first $1000 refunded, but I can dispute the charge with my credit card company if there's a problem. Though I use PayPal, I always pay by credit card (through PayPal) so I'm protected in that way.
Macs are cool. This is the first Mac I've ever owned. Except for one job a long time ago, I've always been a PC person. They're very different from PC's. I didn't spend too long looking at it. I'll wait until I have the one I'm going to keep.
Some things in my morning routine never got done today - like the centering and planning. :O I didn't plan today - it sort of happened to me. Bad. I need to do this, and then I'll figure out the rest of my to-do list.
One of the things that came in the mail was my new Macintosh computer. I have to spend some time looking at it - not just because it's fun, but because I have to check out that everything is there and works.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~Ta Da~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Wake up: 8:50am (oops - target: 7am).
Post first check-in and CUOP.
Morning Routine
Empty dish drain and wash any dishes from previous day.
I'm hot, sweaty, tired, and hungry. Just got back from the gym. Need to change my clothes then go out again for food and to get my mail. I hope the water is back on - haven't checked yet.
OK, that'll do. At least I'm all ready for tomorrow.
*Daytime Routine done (including evening meal and clear up, and prep meals for Tues and Weds, clothes ready, transport ready etc).
I've blown off all the work I had planned for today, and I'm taking the evening off (officially!) and I'm going to have an early night. Staying up late is a huge contributory factor to my procrastination and I know it - but at the time I'm doing it I seem to think I'm going to 'get away with it' somehow.
Some asshole turned off the water in the building, with no warning, while I was in the shower, and I have conditioner in my hair. I'm going down to the basement to meet the asshole.
He says there is a leak so he has to turn off the entire building. Bull. He could turn off just the line with the leak. He says, "One minute" while he fixes the leak, but it's not any "One minute." Maybe I'll go to the gym just so I can rinse my hair.
I did go to the gym, and I really liked it. I want to go back.
The water didn't run out - a plumber turned off the water in the building with no warning to fix a leak that had nothing to do with my apartment. If he was competent, he'd have turned off only the line that was leaking (not mine). I haven't checked to see if the water is on again yet.
Maybe you can build it into your daily routine somehow. Try to bottle that feeling of enjoyment so you can remember when you're next trying to put it off!!! :)
I checked email before getting dressed because it was getting so late (I got up late) and I wanted to make sure nothing urgent was there. I didn't clear the spam folder yet, however.
Nothing more from my brother, thank goodness. I'd like to not talk to him for a while.
Looks like we ~all~ got off to a slow start this morning, except Milo. I've been shamelessly procrastinating, by doing something on my list that I've been putting off (not really procrastinating - just didn't get higher up my priority list) - posting addresses to places where we can get more gifs! (See the graphics thread).
I asked DSO to come and give me some moral support to stop me procrastinating, but he's procrastinating too (I'm not sure how you can procrastinate when you haven't got a schedule, but he says he is).
Anyway, we're going to do the DDog walk next and see if moving and a bit of fresh air changes our mental outlook.
Went to bed late, slept late--ugh.
--Morning Routine--in progress (interrupted by cuop; heck that usually IS part of morning routine!)
--have list of chores for today, can't do them all before I go to nursing home but can do some of them from there
--need to check on church and submit newsletter article (ack--gotta write one!!!! Fast!!!!)
So plan of action is to finish morning routine in a flash, check on church, and get to nursing home by 11:30, and it's 10:03 now. Wish me luck!
Well, how about that? It's because of the cricket! The person in charge (in the 1800s) of deciding when Bank Holidays were was a cricket fan! I think there ~is~ cricket on at the mo'. The other thing that's always confused me is people talking about the Whit holiday and we don't always get a holiday at Whit (known as Pentecost elsewhere) - looks like we used to have one, but someone couldn't cope with it moving around all over the place (like Easter - it's because it's derived from a pagan festival) and made it a fixed day.
Looks like we might get extra Bank Hols in future to get us in line with Europe. That would be nice - there are a couple of looong stretches without any holidays in them.
I had forgotten that Whitsunday is the same as Pentecost, but nowadays Pentecost is always 50 days after Easter, in Western Christianity (originally Pentecost was a Jewish holiday). Easter, now, that's really funny. It has a formula that is actually meant to distinguish it both from the Jewish calendar AND from the pagan calendar (though the name Easter is purely pagan), so it's quite convoluted: it's the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox! How 'bout that! (In the past there were different formulas, and the Easter Orthodox Church still follows a different one today). In America nobody gets off for Pentecost, but there is a mixed response to Easter and Good Friday or Holy Monday (the Monday after Easter). Here in Texas, state employees do not get Good Friday off unless the Governor declares a holiday on that day. So it's not officially on the state employee calendar, but very often the governor goes ahead and declares a last-minute holiday--and that's supposed to be separation of church and state! When I was a state employee, I sure rooted for the governor to declare that holiday, just as my mother had when I was little (though my family are atheists, LOL). Interestingly, the school districts often get off both Good Friday and Holy Monday (that's up to the district), with good Friday an actual holiday and the Monday being a teacher workday or training day, while the students get the day off. I guess that's a strong Catholic influence from being a former colony of Mexico. In Louisiana, a former French colony, Mardi Gras is an official holiday. Not here! One day we'll wind up with a football holiday, I bet--the Monday after Superbowl Sunday, for recovery!
And I believe the Eastern Orthodox Church (interesting typo slider!) doesn't use the name 'Easter' because of the pagan associations. A lot of the pagan stuff never really stopped here - it just got somewhat occluded, and it's revival as a religion is quite popular now, even though its history is very obscure.
Yeah, amusing typo! Christianity just covered up most of the native religions it came across. People were forced to convert at swordpont in Europe and throughout the Americas, so there are some very interesting amalgams. Eh, this is getting to be a long, off-topic aside, so I'll quit now, I promise!!!
I think if you asked a hundred English people why we have a Bank Holiday today they'd either say 'because it's August' or 'dunno'. I don't think ~anyone~ would equate it to the cricket!
Apparently villages used to challenge each other on this day, so it was a community event - probably more an excuse for a bit of a party than anything else.
LOL about the lunchtime prep 'help' Milo :) And who's been spewing in your bathroom?! :O
Well, I was in a rush earlier on, so I didn't get chance to Bookend 'properly'. Here's what I had left last night after I logged off:
*Me time (film?) - Pi: Faith in Chaos. I enjoyed it - didn't seem to have much to do with Pi though, but then I got sidetracked looking up film stuff on the net, and then I simply ~had~ to look up what was happening with Pluto - someone on my other board had said it had been demoted! :O
NOT ON LIST, but I ~had~ planned to do it when it got dark (don't know how I managed to forget to put it on the list, I guess I think I can do two things at once): Going round the house with the blacklight and the dog pee neutraliser. There wasn't much I'd missed actually - doing a good job. Doesn't smell like a smelly old dog lives here anyway, and you wouldn't know to look at her - she's as sweet as ever and still gets mistaken for a puppy sometimes. I love my Ddog :)
*BBR - by this time it was about 1.15 am :p
*Bed/Read/Lights out by 11.00 pm - Ha! Skipped the reading and went to sleep about 1.30 am
TODAY
I'm glad I went back to exercise class this morning - I've not been for weeks (mostly because of the extra studying I was doing in the mornings to catch up with homework). I've got sixteen sessions left and until the end of September to use them, so I've been booking in some early morning sessions. If I'm going to be going before work again, I ~really~ need to get back into early nights again. I've not reverted back to my old, really bad, habits, but it's not exactly 11 pm either.
*Lie in until about 9.00 am
*Morning Routine
*Listen to DSO's first draft of wedding speech
*Start of Workday Routine (most)
*Quick CI here
*Exercise class
*Check Tickler/update diary and calendar (booked more classes)

*That was half an hour ago - I don't know what I've been doing since - I've been sat at the computer - probably Emails (I'm keeping my Inbox empty except for what I'm working on that day), and CUOP. Going a bit slow today - I'd planned to have worked on two of my projects by now, and have started neither.
*CUOP on SHEsInTouch
*I want to just do a quick net search to find out why we have a national holiday today. What's it for?
*Daytime Routine including DDog walk

It was DS - poor little thing. He got all sooky just after dinner and just wanted to cuddle. DH thought he might be getting a cold. But then just as he was getting out of the bath he threw up all over the floor (and all over DH!). Hope it passes!
Looking forward to tomorrow. Poor baby DS hasn't thrown up again (yet) so fingers crossed he'll sleep whatever-it-is off by morning and I get a day to myself }:). We haven't heard from him in 4 hours so that's a good sign :)

Blown off:

Just had a home day today, no work either during the day or tonight. Am taking tomorrow off payroll work I think - need to recharge. The excuse will either be that I'm sick or DS is (as he just threw up all over DH after his bath...if he throws up all night I'll stay home to look after him. If not it was a once-off and he should be ok for childcare tomorrow & I'll stay home to look after myself!)

I was planning to start doing this, but the idea of it is completely unappealing at the moment. It's raining, I'm running late, and my body is barely awake.
I'm such a wuss - it has to be perfect for me to exercise. Not to hot, not too cold. Therefore it's rarely ideal and so I put it off }:) And I have to be aware of our budget at the moment so a gym isn't an option. I SHOULD be walking....
I don't have this excuse anymore. I can't afford gyms (the one on the corner costs $1500/year, and the YMCA up the street costs $1200 per year), but I discovered that the City of New York has community recreation centers that are incredible. There's a brand new one on 25th Street that's fully air conditioned with two aerobic rooms, a weight room, an indoor pool, and tons more - all for $75/year. That's practically nothing. I pay a fortune in New York City taxes, but apparently I'm getting a few things for my money.
25th Street is a 20 minute walk away, but big deal. I was also going to go to a 9am AA meeting, but it's past 9am. I got up late this morning - I'm all screwed up.
Won't be able to send report to client. Will do that tomorrow.

eBayer lied

I so wish I'd bought it from amazon.com. It would have cost the same. I made a mistake. (Probably not the last in my life.)

*CUOP
*Lunch - Celeriac and Cashew Soup
*That was half an hour ago - I don't know what I've been doing since - I've been sat at the computer - probably Emails (I'm keeping my Inbox empty except for what I'm working on that day), and CUOP. Going a bit slow today - I'd planned to have worked on two of my projects by now, and have started neither.
*CUOP on SHEsInTouch
*I want to just do a quick net search to find out why we have a national holiday today. What's it for?
*Daytime Routine including DDog walk
*Planning 2

Payroll day Tuesday: Unlikely to post
Bathroom chuck...
It was DS - poor little thing. He got all sooky just after dinner and just wanted to cuddle. DH thought he might be getting a cold. But then just as he was getting out of the bath he threw up all over the floor (and all over DH!). Hope it passes!
Good luck on the planning :)
Milo's last CI - 10:30pm
Looking forward to tomorrow. Poor baby DS hasn't thrown up again (yet) so fingers crossed he'll sleep whatever-it-is off by morning and I get a day to myself }:). We haven't heard from him in 4 hours so that's a good sign :)

Milo's CI 7pm
Just had a home day today, no work either during the day or tonight. Am taking tomorrow off payroll work I think - need to recharge. The excuse will either be that I'm sick or DS is (as he just threw up all over DH after his bath...if he throws up all night I'll stay home to look after him. If not it was a once-off and he should be ok for childcare tomorrow & I'll stay home to look after myself!)

Norm's 10.15 am BE
I booked myself in for an exercise class at 10.30 am - time to start trying to use up those tickets again - I think they expire in September!
*Poof*
Good energy booster
A workout in the morning always gets me on a roll for the rest of the day. Enjoy!!!!
morning workouts
I was planning to start doing this, but the idea of it is completely unappealing at the moment. It's raining, I'm running late, and my body is barely awake.
The weather factor
I'm such a wuss - it has to be perfect for me to exercise. Not to hot, not too cold. Therefore it's rarely ideal and so I put it off }:) And I have to be aware of our budget at the moment so a gym isn't an option. I SHOULD be walking....
NYC Rec Centers (cheap!)
Great deal!
I don't think we have anything that good here! And the walk would be a good warm-up.
Don't stress about your sleep-in. As we say down here - "She'll be right, mate."....
great deal and... NO EXCUSE!!
Now I have no excuse for being a lazy sloth. :(
Milo's CI 4pm
Won't be able to send report to client. Will do that tomorrow.

Had better go play with kids. DS is howling and saying "naughty girl" to me because I won't let him sit on my knee and play with the computer. Better pay him some attention :)
Milo's CI 2pm
Now I'm home and DS is asleep and DD watching a DVD so time to tackle my daytime routine.
