Today, like yesterday, has been pretty unproductive in terms of my thesis. I have sorted out childcare for dd1yo though, which is great! I really need to write a plan and a master to-do list though. I will try to get that sorted tonight, and make a start on my results section, which I have been procrastinating because the thought of starting such a big section is freaking me out.
MITs for Wed night:
-write a master to-do list
-begin going through SEMs for my results section and find at least a couple of the ones I want to put in.
I got up, got my son up, showered, fed and out the door and then went promptly back to bed until 12:30. The rest of the day was not particularly productive: most of it was spent trying to plan a shopping list that would save money, be efficient and account for what was on sale. It was an excericise on remembering perfectionism. I now have plenty of food in the house and nothing else done. More than that, my enthusiasm for dealing with anything related to cooking or food. Which just goes to show you that perfectionism is a complete waste of time.
Today: took some more things to the new condo again this morning. Showered at gym & got ready for work. Did some projects this morning. Accomplished meeting with repairman mid-day, but felt exhausted emotionaly & otherwise afterward. After that, I did one step at a time -- whew! Finally perked up again toward the end of the day. Left on time. Ate dinner at home. Surfed net quickly before checking in.
Next: get ready to go to my other support group tonight. On the way I need to go to Home Depot or somewhere. Actually before that, I would like to take at least one more load over to the new condo ;) [It helps to do a little bit at a time ;)
At least, the stuff that needs to be done (like paying bills) is done. And the rest of it is sorted, and the stuff to be filed set aside for when things are less crazy & I'm less overwhelmed. Triage is a good thing.
Next up: Check weather. Do some laundry. Email M. and email J. and J. Maybe order stuff online if I feel like it. Or maybe just take some time off to relax and de-stress.
Working from home today and getting a late start . . . got caught up in doing a couple things around the house that should have waited til this evening. But, anyway, here I am now, bookending my day starter. Back shortly with MITs!

so, maybe today i can choose to do tasks, rather than them choosing to do me. i checked in yesterday faithfully, sort of like a time logging thing. Til 1pm then i got lost in tasks. I'm going to try not to do that, again, today.
So first review and set MITs. 8:25pm.
1hr--review of MITs uncovered a problem that i just jumped right in on, instead of scheduling amongst all other tasks.
I think i fear that if i dont do it now, it will not get done. But i'll trust HP instead. Back to review--just a review!--of MITs today 9:38
ok someone asked me a question and i dont know the answer but other people do and i sent the person to those other people. now i should just forget about it, right? i should not try to figure it out on my own, right? Because that's not an MIT for me. In fact, it's not a T of any kind for me, MI or otherwise. hard to let go. HP help. 945
40min i was pulled into that issue again, but i did let go of it before that. back to reviewing MITs... this is taking too long. try not to get discouraged and just complete it. 10:25

5hrs later: I did a little better. I did avoid some distractions and set those MITs.
MIT 1: made a time line for myself - done. I fiddled with graphics here a bit. i haven't done that for a while, and these will actually help me keep organized, so i'm going to give myself a passing grade, but not an A.
MIT 2: done. was not hard, itself. But *I* was hard doing it.
MIT 3: made progress.
I felt a little more like i was choosing what to every so often, rather than getting lost. But, i notice, i didnt check-in :(

I'm going to spend 30 more min working on practice midterm, then I'm going to work until 2 reading up on NM's work, then I'm going to go to lab and work on clustering, then I'm going to meet w/ NM and check back in.
working hard today, but not sticking to my MITs...I finished the practice midterm, which needed to get done but wasn't a MIT. *Now* I'm going to read up on NM's and PP's work, that way I'll at least have 1 MIT taken care of before mtg w/ NM.
I've been having a hard time getting my MITs done (as in, I haven't gotten any of them done yet, though I've made progress).
I did some reading on NM's and PP's work, then had a (long but productive) meeting with NM, then helped a friend prep for a midterm, then took some notes on mtg w/NM and had an early dinner. Now I'm in lab and need to make some progress on my lab MITs. Specifically, I'm going to work on implementing clustering. I'm going to start by brainstorming a sensible way to do this, then I'll implement and start running code. I'm going to work in the chatbox to keep myself moving forward.I need to leave for midterm at 6:55.
Got through all my scheduled tasks and most of my "other tasks", but still haven't completed any of my MITs. (Though I did make pretty good progress on "researching profs" and a bit of progress on clustering)
And now I'm exhausted from a very long day, and don't feel like I can finish any of my MITs.
However, I can still make some progress. I'm going to set a small group of manageable goals for tonight:
*Email 1 prof (WG)
*Finish talking notes from mtg w/ NM
*Get a list of TFs to scan for
*Revise code to compute scanning paramters
*Start running code to compute scanning parameters.
I'm going to work in the chatbox and check back every time I complete one of these subtasks.
