Ooops, I almost forgot to check in today -- too busy!!!
Today: train, did elliptical, stretching, training class. Sure enough, pouring rain & severe lightning on day when riding the train home, on a day when I have a volunteer group that needs me on time! Slightly late for mtg, but 1 person was later than me, so = "some days are like that." Then went to my other volunteer meeting, and it went very well :) Obsessing waiting to hear about something. Found out a regular attendee of my local support group had a heart attack and passed away. They were always very kindly, and I feel like they are still with us. Anyway, what a day!!!
XXXX - Clear Desk / Daily Basket
DONE - Banking / Bills (All Urgent)

I lost focus a couple of time (or hyper focused on other things) and had a fairly productive day, but I can execute much better. I will try to estimate better what I can do, and focus on doing it.

Good morning! I went to the gym, trying to work off that extra lb that sneaked up on me over the 4th of July. My MITs are set for the day, and I'm off to a meeting at 10. Today is shaping up to be a better day than yesterday, but I'm still looking forward to that cup of coffee which is my reward for starting work as soon as I get to my desk, and working for at least 20 minutes.

Today was ok. I accomplished 7 tasks from my todo list, although I kinda slacked off toward the end of the day. It's late anyway, and I got here early so I should go home!
I didn't plan too well this week so I'm picking up dinner tonight instead of having something quick and healthy ready to reheat. I need to stop by the pharmacy, although I might put that off another day. 1/2 hour on dishes and laundry, and pull something out of the freezer that we can eat for dinner tomorrow. I've been eating a lot of cereal and meal replacement bars and I'm feeling the need for more protein during the day - I think I'll whip up a couple of single serving quiches that I can bring in to work with me for breakfast and lunch tomorrow. spinach, onions, cheese, homegrown banana peppers . . . I must be hungry. Time to leave work!
Have a great evening!
Jo

Back to work after a vacation - I need to get my head into a lot of important projects today.
MIT
Write Unit tests for Issuances (need to break outi into chunks, too much for one day)
Create web page exports to xl format (also need to chunk)
Other goals
track time and how much is spent vs. wasted surfing internet
meet guy at lunch to talk about car
set up payment plan
Well, that should do it for today -- I'll check out later today. Good luck all, and thanks for listening.
**UPDATE** working on some code and putzing along with my iPod cranking, it occurs to me how much I like my job, and how happy I am when I am actually doing it. Crazy.
I was directed to focus on another item, a bugfix, so that kept me from progressing on my MITs, unfortunately. Maybe two good hours of work put in today. I must do better.
I have a bunch of non-work tasks to get done this morning:
1)House jobs stuff (Starting now, will work on this until 10:20, then pack a lunch and leave for lab)
2)Email PJ (Done)
3)Grocery shopping (Done+organized my food)
4)Enter numbers into phone (Done-took forever!)
Randomization test is still running (and actually doesn't look like it'll be done until tomorrow), so I'll move on to other tasks.
I'm going to:
1)Follow up on the 1 promising dataset I found in OMIM (DONE)
2)Make a list of 25 coregulators to look up in GEO (DONE)
3)Search for 5 of them (DONE, now taking a break)
4)Finish reading network flow stuff
Looking at my list and going over how I spent my time yesterday, it's become clear to me that I'm not making true progress. I'm wasting more time than I'm working. Even when I'm "working" I'm wasting time. So today, for the first time ever, I'm going to attempt to properly follow the 12 steps.
I'm worried because I have a nagging little feeling inside of me that seems to just know that I won't be able to stick to the 12 steps, but I'm going to shove it aside and try anyway. Nothing is written in stone - my propensity to procrastinate is not unchangeable, I can do it, and even if it takes me more years than I care to mention, one day I *will* be rid of it. I will not continue to be a chronic procrastinator. I choose not to. If you control the way you think and you empower yourself by believing in your positive thoughts, you will change your life, simple as that.
So for today, a simpler, new list. I'm not going to keep carrying over unfinished to-dos and watch my list grow.
MITs:
- send H meeting details
- finish Ice profile and send
Other:
x vitamins
- hmed 1/2
x fmed 1/2
- blue med
- shower
- tidy room
- call T about forgotten items
- wash old litter box
- hmed 2/2
- fmed 2/2

I find that carrying over unfinished todos is self-defeating. I like to wipe the slate clean every morning, and just focus on what is most important for TODAY. If I start thinking about the things that didn't get done yesterday, or last week, or 5 years ago, then I set myself up for a procrastination binge.
Have a great day!

I'm going to try to finish that reading before my friend comes over, then I'll try and finish my MITs after he leaves.
