Procrastinators Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from chronic procrastination.
However, now I have lots of work that absolutely must get done tonight, and I'm exhausted. This is what I get for putting everything off to the last minute.
My main task is to write a rough draft of a paper intro (approx. 2 pages) I'm going to get through it before midnight my time. To do this, I'll try to keep a strict schedule of 1/2 page per half-hour And remember that it's a rough, if it's not great that's OK.
Thanks, Journey, for your response! It sounds like you are making tracks, and I am happy for one of us to be PRODUCTIVE!! I ask myself why I have such a need to take a "vacation" from the business at hand. Weekends are always happy, Monday is just confused and nonproductive. I am a strong-willed person, capable of great productivity (from past accounts), but I am in a quagmire. Fortunately, there is a difference between a quagmire that is brought on by one's self and a quagmire that is brought on by a series of unfortunate events (see Sunday post). Mine is (mostly) the latter. So I choose to give myself a break. Hey, I read "Choosing Your Strongest Self" or whatever the he(( the name of the book is. This is a GREAT book! Usually I don't remember anything after a week of reading most of the rah-rah books on the market today. But this one I gleaned really useful strategies from. Especially in the area of procrastination (I am the Queen of Procrastination!). Also some useful strategies in the battle against anxiety.
OK, I actually have to do something, so here goes: Tuesday, I will: - Prepare budget info for tax meeting - Meet with tax pro - Bring financial software up to date by posting all receipts and transactions - Do something fun with grandson (staying with me during spring break) - Attend creativity meeting Tuesday night
Oh, how I am thankful for this venue to post my tentative, but hopeful, plans! Peggy
During the work week, I have to do my check-in when I get home. Mondays I am gone from 6am to 9pm! (This is why I knew if I didn't clean the house last weekend, it wouldn't get cleaned lol ;)
With a view to not procrastinating, here was my special effort today: Since there will be special circumstances with my buying a condo this summer, I need to set up an appointment with a real estate attorney to make sure everything will be ok with estate planning and taxes. So today I called to request an appointment. She is out of the office through next week. While it will be next week before she can call me back to schedule an appt, at least I did the first step which is making the phone call. Which is something that I have been needing to do since January 1. (which shows why I need this program lol! ;)
Scrolling the Monday messages a few minutes ago -- it looks like everyone has already been busy thinking about & working on their Monday projects! Good luck with everything! :)
I no longer procrastinate at work: I have no time to! I don't know how I am going to handle all the things that I need to deal with before and after work, but I will try! I didn't walk today, so I feel a bit Gumby today (hats off to Falcon), and it looks very much like rain, tut tut! There is a lot to accomplish, especially as there is a country wide strike on Wednesday, so I am now going to wade my way through the heaps of garbage left by the striking garbage workers to my apartment where I hope I don't have to walk up 5 flights of stairs, to call the health care system to check on rescheduling a test I booked two months ago that has the problem of being postponed due to the strike!
whine, whine, whine!
Be that as it may: I am still enjoying the busy job, I love the interaction with the students, and I am busy and happy!
to do: walk, call mfrey, call ika, sort out paperwork for bank transfer for tomorrow am, print up poems for display.
spent the last hour on the phone with dr.'s offices and insurance company, ugh. I've made my todo list and notified work that I won't be in the office today but may work from home some, just depends on the doctor stuff.
I'm glad I don't have to drive downtown today, my exit is closed which means everyone has to take surface streets and several intersections are closed due to tornado damage.
Right now, 20 minutes of exercise and then a shower. First dr. appt is at 10:15 followed by more doctor and insurance stuff. All this stuff is annoying but at least we have insurance. At my old job she would have been taken off my insurance by now because of her age. The current job allows coverage until 25 as long as they are full time college students. Thank the good Lord for that.
