The purple elephant wants YOU to have a happy weekend!

pro's CI - 10pm (done cleaning)

I finished all my cleaning. The only thing I didn't do was work on my pile and do the laundry. The laundry isn't necessary, and I'll have a little time in the morning to work on the pile. So I'm done for tonight, and it's night to be in a clean place.

Time to get ready for bed.

pro's CI - 8:30pm

Looks like I'm going to finish cleaning before too late, which is good. I'm saving the paperwork for last. I want to make sure the dirt is gone first.

Done since last check-in:

♦ Polish mirrors.
♦ Vacuum.
♦ Start to dust.

To Do:

♦ Finish dusting.
♦ File papers in pile.

Procrastination is the grave in which opportunity is buried.

pro's CI - 7pm

Done since last check-in:

♦ Finish cleaning tub.
♦ Sweep and wash bathroom floor.

I'm going to do paperwork for a while - a break before I do more physical cleaning.

To Do:

♦ Polish mirrors.
♦ Vacuum.
♦ Dust.
♦ File papers in pile.

Procrastination is the grave in which opportunity is buried.

pro's CI - 6:20pm

Done since last check-in:

♦ Brought recycling downstairs.
♦ Bought toilet paper, paper towels, and tissues.
♦ Cleared magazine pile.
♦ Opened table for sorting papers in main pile.
♦ Started to clean tub.

I read something in one of the magazines I threw out that caught my eye. It was talking about time management - how some times can be made to take less time if you plan well. I need to do more in this department. Stuff takes me too long.

To Do:

♦ Finish cleaning tub.
♦ Sweep and wash bathroom floor.
♦ Vacuum.
♦ Dust.
♦ File papers in pile.

Ironing is done. I'm going to bring down the recyling/trash and go to the store now. I have lots more cleaning to do.

Recycler got it done -- thanks to this board :) msg

Hi!

The board really helped me today to keep going on my tasks!  It took me 5 and 1/2 hours of cleaning, but I got my goals done! :)  [Thanks to this board; otherwise I would have quit after about 2 hours lol)

I did & put away 3 loads of laundry.
I did & put away 1 load of dishes
I [appropriately] cleaned off & put away stuff from 6 tables on the main level & kitchen island counter
I cleaned off & put away stray items from chairs
I moved things from the floor of the main level to where they are supposed to be
I put stray dolls on the shelves
I took 3 trash bags full to the dumpster :)
I took 1 box to Goodwill
I bought my weekly groceries and supplies

Since the December holidays, due to various circumstances such as not heating the main level, it has taken me this long to re-tidy the main level.  So I would say if it's taken me 2 and 1/2 months to clean off 6 tables, I'm definitely a procrastinator lol! ;)

During the week I work and on evenings have other activities, so it was either clean everything today or I wouldn't have time to do it before next Saturday!

I feel a huge sense of relief!

I was going to post Thanks this afternoon after I finished the chores, but we had a thunderstorm so I had to unplug my computer because there were a lot of lightning strikes in the area.

Then, Saturday night is the one night of the week that I can watch a DVD, so I was able to do that tonight without feeling guilty, because the house is already clean!  So now's my chance to say Thanks, everyone, so much!  Hugs! :)

Recycler

Thank you, gals & guys, for being here! :)

gratz recycler!

Jo's ruby slippers

The weather down here must have been started by that whirlwind of activity in Greece!

Nothing serious in my area, but we just got tornado sirens in our little town and they went off for the first time today!  It was scary.  We went to the basement for a little while, but it wasn't really bad.   Our power went out for a while but all seems fine now.

I heard that one of my company's buildings downtown had some windows blown out, and there were some pretty serious tornados up north of Atlanta, but it's all over now!   Guess I'll have to make dinner after all lol . . . .

Jo

lol

yes, it is a strange weather effect, kind of like 'el nino, or la nina': we call it 'the betta', a phenomena where uncommon amounts of housework in Greece produces massive weather disruptions in downtown Atlanta. Obviously, such circumstances should be prevented in the future!

Tornado in Classroom/kitchen

Not only were there tornadoes for real in our area (NE Georgia) but a tornado has evolved so very slowly but cunningly in my classroom/kitchen.  Some of it came from our rushing out of here and not having the kids clean up after themselves.

Here's the list:
Clean off kitchen table.
Unload dishwasher.
Wash two more loads of laundry.
Clean off all surfaces in classroom.

Peace,
Karen

e's saturday powerhouse checkin

not quite sure what has happened to me today, but I am on fire getting things accomplished. My bedroom actually looks..... great! I vacuum3ed, cleared things out that don't belong there, set books in order, cleaned the pile to the left of my computer, changed the bedding, did a few loads of laundry, got each of my children to clean their rooms, did dishes, watered plants, checked email, made dinner, did dishes, put away groceries, hung up laundry, folded laundry, put laundry away, .... okay, who AM I and WHAT HAVE I DONE WITH MYSELF!

going to the chatbox to work on paperwork. come visit!

Go, elisaveth!

I bet it feels good to have things so tidy!  Revel in everything you've gotten done!

(And if you figure out the secret to being such a powerhouse, let us all know!)  Wink

Falcon

thanks, falcon!

I wish I could take credit for it, but I rhink it has everything to do with my new job. I am happy, not depressed, and have been chipping away at some things that have scared the bejezus out of me. All of which have contributed to my feeling capable and willing.

beware of comfy chairs: they have a strong centrifugal force!

forgotten things I accomplished today....

hung pictures, mended some clothing, took meds, water, redid electrical plugs, actually PUT AWAY the hammer, nails, picture hangers in the box I had got them out of! I also washed the sink, cleaned the stovetop, wiped off counters in the kitchen, rearranged appliances, emptied and filled dishwasher, straightened the living room, did some handwashing, ....

okay, really heading to the chatbox now....

elisaveth not taking credit

"I wish I could take credit for it"  you can and should take credit!   That new job might be great, but it didn't come over and clean your house for you, lol.

pro's CI - 3pm

Thanks to Movingalong in the chatbox for shaming me into action. I put aside WinAmp and I'm starting to straighten up my apartment. I need to cook some things for the week before laundry because the meat is going to go bad - can't wait another day.

LOL, i did NOT "shame" you.  I ENCOURAGED you.  (at least that was my intent) !

pro's CI - 1;50pm

I've been taking an extended "break". I want to find podcast software that doesn't drive me crazy. Also, I have a stomach ache.

I downloaded WinAmp. I've always liked the idea of WinAmp but detested the interface. After wasting several hours, I finally have found a decent skin that I can actually see. Now I just have to see if it solves my previous problem (does what my other podcast receiver does not).

Journey 11 am

11 am already??  So far today, I have done . . . .NOTHING!

OK, I have an excuse - my daughter fell yesterday at school and injured a ligament in her knee.  They don't think it's torn but we won't be sure until next week.   We all had a bad night.  I have to work tonight, probably 7-1 am, I have a headache, and I really don't want to do anything except crawl back into bed . . . but I know I'll just feel worse if I don't get anything done.  SO

First, make a grocery list
Do yoga - it'll only take 30 min and it'll do me a lot of good
Get dressed
Go to the grocery store
pharmacy
bank
Put away groceries
Clean up the kitchen
Make dinner - something quick and easy
Take a World of Warcraft break before work - I'm about to hit level 34 - 6 more levels and I can get my mount
work
sleep
do it all over again tomorrow

 Hoping that you don't need

Hoping that you don't need ruby slippers after all the wind troubles in Atlanta, Jo! be safe!

pro's CI - 10:35am

I'm showered and dressed.

I'm a little overwhelmed with how much I want to accomplish this weekend, and I have to be careful of that because it can paralyze me. I have to take just one task at a time.

Next up - pick up my apartment. I have to put things away before I can start serious cleaning.

going to the chatbox now

I'm going to open up the chatbox now, hoping I'll have some company in my work tasks today. Lots of cleaning and some paperwork, too.

9:36 quick CI for Lark

I can identify with everyone today. Cleaning, company, donating stuff, etc. are on my plans. Now if I can get everything in order. Gotta go now. I'll check back after while. Good luck everyone!

pro's CI - 9:05am

I had something to eat (not very tasty - unsatisfying), I've picked up a little, rinsed out some drip dry, and made some initial steps towards getting dressed. Need to take pills now.

Falcon Saturday CI

Good morning!

It looks nice out, and there are birds singing, but when I open the door I can feel that it's cold & damp out.  They're predicting rain and maybe snow flurries.  Bleah.

Pro, I'm in the same boat with you!  I've got some company coming tomorrow evening & need to get my apartment looking decent.

To do next:

  • Stop being so grumpy
  • Eat something
  • Haul myself out for a walk.  Remember that cold & damp aren't going to kill me.
  • Shower & dress
  • Check back in

That's probably in the wrong order -- I may have to eat & exercise first in order to shake off the grumpiness.

Catch you later,

Falcon

Falcon - post-breakfast pep talk

O.k. self, you've had breakfast, your teeth are brushed, and you're wearing clothes. . . now get out there & take a walk!  You can do it!  Wear your huge wool sweater & you'll be warm!  Take the ipod with you & listen to podcasts!  Go, go, go!

Hey, not that way. . . that's toward the sofa!

Out the door!  Go, self!  Rah, rah, rah!

Falcon

Falcon CI - poky

Hi all,

Sort of comforting to check in and find that I'm not the only one who's poking around & feeling overwhelmed today!

I'm finally showered & dressed, and up & about again.  I got my walk (buds coming out on the trees!  Yay!) and took a nap and am feeling more focused & less crabby.  As I'm tapering of the lexapro, the fatigue is definitely lessening -- even though I needed a nap, that was after getting up at 6:30, instead of sleeping till 9:00 and then napping all afternoon, like I had been doing for a few weekends.

O.k., here's stuff that needs to get done this weekend:

Tidy apartment
Clean bathroom
Change sheets
Vacuum
Dust
Get groceries
Go to bank
Pin up black pants & take to tailor
Make haircut appointment
Set up an account on personal ad site
Do laundry
Clean the kitchen
Pay bills
Figure out travel schedule and call J.
Call M.
Call L.

Let me think about this & do a bit of planning & scheduling.

Edited to add: also call K.

Falcon

Falcon CI - Oh, Cripes!

Oh, cripes!  Must add to list: prepare for workshop I'm teaching this week!  That keeps falling out of my brain.

Falcon

Falcon CI - a plan

All right, first I'd better do the stuff that requires businesses being open/people being available.  Also the laundry, because I'm out of socks.

To do now:

  • Put in a load of laundry
  • Call for haircut appointment
  • Pin up the pants
  • Go to the tailor (stop the washer before leaving if it's still running!)
  • Go to the bank
  • Call M., Call K. and start on cleaning the kitchen while chatting.

Falcon

Falcon CI - still poky

Not sure what my problem is today -- I seem to be moving at a snail's pace, and my armchair seems to be exerting an unnatural gravitational force on my rump.  But the first load of laundry is in, I've changed the sheets, pinned the pants, and got the haircut appointment on the calendar.

I'm too late for the bank today -- not the end of the world; I can go tomorrow.  Not sure if the tailor/dry cleaner's is open, but I'll walk over there & see.  The pants were a christmas present & I still haven't gotten around to getting them hemmed.  Embarassed

Falcon

Must. . . resist. . . armchair

It's calling to me!  I've moved my computer into the kitchen hoping I'd be out of earshot, but I can still hear it crooning to me to come sit & be unproductive.  Oh no, now the sofa is chiming in, too -- it's a siren song duet!

No!  No!  I defy, you, comfy furniture!

Got the pants to the tailor (they were open!  Yay!) and found my notes for the workshop from last year, thank goodness.

Too late to call M., will have to do that tomorrow (tomorrow is looking more and more like a busy day. . .)

To do next:

  • Get rehydrated
  • Eat dinner
  • Go get groceries
  • Call & talk to K. (and maybe L.) while putting groceries away.

Falcon

LOL at comfy furniture

Wasn't there a Monty Python routine (decades ago) that involved the torture of a comfy chair?
 LOL

Cleaning Day for Recycler (msg)

Hi!

Company's coming next weekend, so I've got to get with the program and tidy up things today!!!

There's the Easy Part and the Hard Part.

So far this morning, I've already done some of the Easy Part.  I've already washed two loads of clothes and have another in the washer now.  I've run the dishwasher.  On the main level, I have [appropriately] cleaned off 4 table tops.  I have started moving around things that are on the floor (in the process of cleaning up).  I have started the box to take to Goodwill this morning.

Continuation of the Easy Part:  Finish washing/drying the clothes and put away.  Dry the dishes from the dishwasher and put away.

The Hard Part (without bogging down or giving up):  [Appropriately] clean off 2 larger tables, plus the large countertop in the kitchen.  For the things on the floor, decide what to do with them and put them there.  For the things for the 3rd floor, take them up there.  Appropriately clear off the stairs between the 2nd and 3rd floors.
***I need to get through that part BEFORE taking the trash out and BEFORE taking the box to Goodwill, because:  once I'm out the door, you know "that's it for today", and while *I think* I will come back & work some more, you know what will really happen ;)

Today could take more than one update post for me, since "I'm challenged." ;)

Anyway, thanks for the board and the Purple Saturday Elephant :)  Good luck, everyone, on your day today :)

Recycler

Thank you, gals & guys, for being here! :)

Recycler

Recycler --

Wait a sec. . . company's not coming till next weekend, but you're cleaning up today?  Are you sure you're a procrastinator?  Wink

Seriously, though -- congrats on getting a start on the cleaning!  I hope the "Hard Part" turns out to be easier than expected!

Falcon

company coming

I have company coming, too - Monday, for me. Lots of cleaning to do! And laundry!

pro's CI - 8:05am

Good morning. I just got up, and I have a very busy weekend. I want to do laundry and thoroughly clean my apartment. Some people I have seen in decades are visiting on Monday. I don't know if they will be seeing my apartment, but just in case...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Procrastination is the grave in which opportunity is buried.
rain all weekend :(
I just looked at the weather report and it's going to rain all weekend. That's good for housecleaning, but not for laundry since I have to walk a couple blocks with it. I guess I need a plastic bag. What a pain.
Time to get started - get dressed, get breakfast, pick up apartment (not necessarily in that order)...
