Procrastinators Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from chronic procrastination.

new and grateful!!!

I'm so glad I found this site! Procrastination is destroying my life. Poor job performance, bad credit, incomplete projects, incomplete home remodel that'we're living in, constant stress and self hate . . . it's terrible, as I'm sure you understand. Maybe there's hope after all. I can't get my self to do much of anything, unless it's really urgent.

Does this group incorporate the 12 steps at all?

Any suggestions on where to start?

Anyway, thanks for being here!

Angie

12 & 12

Hi Angie,
Glad you joined!
I'm somewhat working a 12-step program (http://www.r-a.org/) for procrastination and waiting for pro to create some info for this site.
email me if you're interested - i don't want to conflict w/pro's work here.

online meeting materials

tl - do you have any materials from whatever 12-step group you're participating in for procrastination that can help us get started here? I already have a basic meeting format and a list of procrastination issues, but input is welcome! 12-step groups are not supposed to have a leader except a higher power. People acting as leaders serve the group, and decisions about the group should be made by consensus.

All of which is to say, I would welcome input! If you have stuff you can email me, please use the Contact form (see button on top right). I don't type my email address because I already get enough spam. :O

Where to start

Hi Angie, welcome!

The 12 steps have been referred to on one of the threads, but I don't know if any of us is following them for procrastination.

For this site, I suggest you start with the 'Articles' and try one or two of the methods suggested there. The two that I remember and use are about time bingeing and bookending, and you'll see there is some active bookending here. Those of us who have tried it have found it really helpful, so do feel free to join us.

welcome Angie, and yes! this is a 12-step group!!

Hi Angie,

Oh yes, I think all of us can relate to what you're describing. That's why we're here, after all.

There are no face-to-face meetings of this fellowship (yet!), but I'd like to start online 12-step meetings. I just need to get the format together. I haven't been feeling very well (I'm withdrawing from an antidepressant, Cymbalta, that's creating havoc with my body), but I'd like to get it done by this weekend. I'd do it today but I have a work-related task I must do first (respond to someone who wants to HIRE me, of all things, and believe me, I NEED THE MONEY!!).

Have you see the articles and polls on the front page? You can also get to them from the buttons at the top. Make sure you read the articles - I think you'll find them helpful. And vote in the polls! There's one there about an online meeting.
