fudoshin: list-of-lower-priority

Please do not leave advice.  Thank you.  Prayers welcome.

Things to do after I get through with my course work, b/c I really want to make the most of the money I've already spent on school, and that means finishing the classes:

Apply for system software job at EDD:    http://www.jobs.ca.gov/CASPB/sup/BulPreview.asp?R1=097500&R2=00101587&R3...

Replace my bras.  Buy some new house pants.   (I may have to wait until there's money to do this, but that's okay.)

Call back people who have asked to do interviews with me.  Tell them I had food poisoning and final exams, which is the truth.

Apply on FAFSA for financial aid next year at the calstate.

Get discount movie tickets, and check to see if SC is one of the films my meetup group is going to.

fudoshin: day 71 : 12:23pm

Please do not leave advice.  Thank you.  Prayers welcome.

This is the 71st day that I have followed through with the following:

I'm making a pledge to quit using the dating site(s) and Facebook for 90
days.  I had written this on my 43things account, but I wrote that I
wanted to avoid dating sites for a full six months, so I think 90 days
is reasonable for a dating site.  I also have a penchant for looking at
and stalking certain people repeatedly on the dating website and online,
which has prevented me from sanity.  Just all out stalking certain
people has been all out crazy; if I'm not stalking one person, it's
another person.   During times I've tried to quit the dating site
before, I have visited people's dating profiles, even while not
registered on the dating site.  So part of my whole thing with quitting
dating sites is also quitting stalking people's profiles that I've tried
to date in the past.  If I accidentally load a dating site, b/c I
accidentally clicked on something obviously that doesn't count.  You can
hardly hang a cat on the Internet without hitting a dating site ad.
Intention is everything.

In other words:

  • 90 days away from dating sites and facebook
  • 90 days of not stalking people's profiles of people I've tried to date in the past
  • 90 days of not stalking people online that I've tried to date in
the past. (I am now back on day 34 for this).
  • No Internet chat, aside from employment or twelve-step.  This
includes not stalking people on AIM or other chat networks, whom I've
tried to date in the past.  I just want to take a step back and get
sanity and focus on MYSELF. (I'm on day 4
    of this.)
  • 56 days of exercise:  All I need to do is exercise for 30 minutes a
day: walking, swimming, hiking, biking, running, jogging, karate, yoga,
a dance class.  Anything of those for at least 30 minutes.  And nothing
else.  I can do the running plan, but I assure myself that each day
that I show up to run, I will be okay, if all I do is ultimately choose
to walk.  Whatever I feel comfortable with when I do. That way I don't
    intimidate myself.
    • on day 5 of this

READING

Restless man's mind is, so strongly shaken
In the grip of the senses...
Truly I think
The wind is no wilder.

—Bhagavad Gita

What passions have swept away our reasoning powers? What lust have we
pursued at the cost of our values and better judgment? As men in this
program, we know the ferocious winds of addiction and codependency. Now
we are in a program of recovery, learning to combine our sensual side
with our mind and our morals.

Every day we feel the winds of our senses, and they are part of what gives us
life. We can let them blow and not be carried away by them. In this way
we take pleasure in being human beings and men. We have our minds, our
thoughts, and our knowledge to turn to for guidance. And we have our
inner voice - our Higher Power - on which we can rely through even the
wildest hurricane.

I am learning to make room in life for my senses, my mind, and my Higher Power.

From Touchstones: A Book of Daily Meditations for Men

MY BASICS: checking in; support calls(1x); affirmations; gratitudes; reading; check calendar AM; check calendar PM; listen to positive recording for 20 minutes;  write down my 6 most important tasks; voicemail; exercise; manage A; manage D; use master list; use timer; track time on sheet and/or iPhone application

Affirmations (said aloud as well):

I choose to show up and start and complete my top 6 most important tasks (MIT) in 15 to 30 minutes time blocks (one at a time).

If there is pain or discomfort or anxiety during these timeblocks, I embrace the pain or feeling the pain while I do these tasks.

I know that if I have that old feeling of pain or anxiety while I am working on my top 6 - I will embrace and love that pain since it means that I am doing something important.

And remember . . . if I am feeling resistance or "shame" or "screwed up" or if I procrastinated at something lately, it's probably just the Dynamics of Human Change doing its checks & balances . . . I am going to keep going!

Have a great Tuesday everyone, tracy-la

Journey 10 am

Happy Tuesday. I'm working from home today. I'm feeling less tired but I'm still not planning to work a full day today after working 14 hours Saturday. But I am going to put in ~6 or 7 hours. I have no meetings today so it's all up to me to decide what to do and then focus on it.

I have started Instant Boss and I'm making my todo list now. I'm going to pretty firmly schedule my day because I know I will be prone to wandering away from the task at hand! Last week was very deadline-driven and yesterday I spent the whole day following up on incidents from the weekend. Today I need to regroup and get back to work on my projects. I have set myself some broad deadlines for these projects, which helps me to focus on them, but I think I need to make some more specific deadlines for myself. Perhaps that will create the same sense of urgency that I get when I have a real hard deadline, or when something is broken. I want to be able to focus the same way on my projects as I focus on those things.

I'll check in pretty frequently today so that you can keep me on track! I might even put in an appearance in the chatroom today since I'm working from home.

hope4meandu day 8 here; day 4 at work

Thanks Hypatia for the really cute starter!!!

Need to get lots done at work. Last night did nothing on my list.

Need to find help for a cat on my street whose face is all bloodied from a fight, is not healing & has been weeks. Feel so powerless to be able to do anything, as I don't have a car, the money or a cat carrier. I humbly ask HP to be able to help this sweet cat. It must be so painful for her, yet she rubbed against my legs this a.m. when I was leaving for work.

Really need to make progress at work.

Work:
-do closing statements
-make copies of closing files

Home:
-make up flyers for cleaning help
-text F when we can have our "kids" groomed

Wishing you a day of breakthroughs with procrastination!!
