before today's meeting starts ... a note to today's meeting leader:
(Don't paste this into chat -- just read it to yourself.)

Before today's meeting starts, today's meeting leader should go to the following link
http://procrastinators-anonymous.org/node/4757
and look at the calendar, and find today, and then find the "Reading of the Week" and the "Step/Tool/Promise/Tradition of the Week" listed at today's date, and make a note of them for yourself. Then make sure that you have that info available when it's time to announce it.

Beginning of Meeting format:
Leader pastes the following into chat, one paragraph at a time:

Welcome to the 12step Mini-Meeting of Procrastinators Anonymous. This is a closed meeting, which means that it's open only to those who acknowledge that they are compulsive procrastinators or suspect they might be.

My name is … and I'm a procrastinator. I'll be chairing the meeting today.

Let us open the meeting with the Serenity Prayer.

God (higherpower), grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

This is a mini-meeting, which means 30 minutes or less on weekdays ... or ... 45 minutes or less on Sundays. As always, we can vote to go longer (if needed or desired).

on Sundays only, paste in the following announcement:

Business meetings are held on the last week of each month, following this recovery meeting. That is where we discuss formats, protocols, and other organizational matters about how this particular online meeting organizes itself.

Reminder that this is a privately owned website, whose owner has graciously given us space for the 12step meetings. The meetings do use bandwidth. We suggest contributing to the website, for example by: donating money, posting helpful ideas, or helping newcomers ... but of course remember to respect your own limitations of energy, time, and resources. Keep coming back!

About sharing: Please do not engage in "crosstalk" such as the following: giving unsolicited feedback or advice, answering, interrogating, debating, criticizing, controlling, or dominating. These guidelines help to keep our meeting safe.

In our meetings we speak about our own experience, and we listen without comment to what others share. We work toward taking responsibility in our own lives, rather than giving advice to others.

Please limit your sharing to three minutes, so that everyone has a chance to share. If you have any troubles with typing, internet/browser issues, formulating thoughts in English etc., please let the leader know, so you can get extra time.

On timekeeping: The timekeeper sets timer for 2 minutes, and at the 2-minute mark, types into chat "one minute left". Timekeeper sets timer for an additional minute ... so that at the end of the full three minutes, the timekeeper types into chat "Time."

Will someone please volunteer to be our Spiritual Timekeeper for today?

[Leader pause, wait for volunteer]

To request to share, type * (star or asterisk). I will recognize you with "go ahead " or "ga" or something similar. I myself, though moderator, will also request to share with a * (star or asterisk) and then one of you will tell me to go ahead, thus keeping me as your peer.

When done sharing, type the word "done" so that we know that you are done.

We voted to do one full reading and four mini-topics each week.  The "reading of the week" and "topics of the week" are set for each Sunday and its preceding six days, and the calendar is posted at the following link (RightClick to open in new browser window or tab):
http://procrastinators-anonymous.org/node/4757

Would someone please paste into this chatbox the "reading of the week" from that link?

[Leader pause, wait for it to be pasted in]

Would someone please paste into this chatbox the "topics of the week" (Step, Tool, Promise, and Tradition) from that same link?

[Leader pause, wait for them to be pasted in]

Note: In this meeting, any topic related to procrastination is open for sharing.

The floor is now open. Would anyone like to share?

[Share time. First turns for all, before going to second turns. Duration of entire Meeting may last
between 15-30 minutes weekdays
.... or ...
30-45 minutes Sundays, depending on participation]

WEEKDAY CLOSING:

Thank you all for sharing. In closing, we would like to remind you that the opinions expressed here were strictly those of the individual who gave them. Take what you like and leave the rest.

If we are to recover, we must feel free to say what is in our minds and hearts, so please remember to respect anonymity. Let whom you see here ~ and what was said here ~ stay here ~ when you leave here. (Herestay!)

(Leader pauses while other participants type to affirm "herestay")

Let's close with the Serenity Prayer.

God (higher power), grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Let us now clear the scroll by typing any character followed by the enter key, over and over, as fast as you wish. By clearing the scroll thus, anyone entering the meeting room later today will not be able to read our 12step meeting.

SUNDAY CLOSING on Regular weeks when there is no business meeting:

Thank you all for sharing. Before we close, I'd like to invite everyone to our "post-meeting room" for virtual coffee and conversation -- answering questions from newcomers -- and general recovery camaraderie. Instructions on how to find the coffee room will be given at the end of the meeting.

Let's close with the Serenity Prayer.

God (higher power), grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

If you would like to chat after the meeting, we can open a THIRD chatbox for virtual coffee and conversation by typing the following, all by itself on one line /join post-meeting

ForwardSlash (no space) join (space) post-meeting (hyphenated)

Once everyone has successfully found the post-meeting coffee room, we will clear the scroll from this 12step meeting room.

Will someone volunteer to stay behind and type lines into the chat to clear the scroll history, to protect all our anonymity? (As soon as everyone has transitioned to other room). You'll join the post-meeting chat when you finish clearing the scroll here.

We clear the scroll by typing any character followed by the enter key, over and over, as fast as you wish. By clearing the scroll thus, anyone entering the meeting room later today will not be able to read our 12step meeting.

SUNDAY CLOSING on Business Meeting weeks (usually the last Sunday of the month):

Thank you all for sharing. Before we close, I'd like to invite everyone to our monthly business meeting, which will begin immediately following the conclusion of this meeting. This is where we discuss how our meeting operates. All are welcome. Newcomers and oldtimers have equal input. Instructions on how to find the "business room" will be given at the end of the meeting.

Let us proceed to the special business meeting chatbox, which we create for this purpose. We open this THIRD chatbox by typing the following, all by itself on one line /join biz-mtg

ForwardSlash (no space) join (space) biz-mtg (hyphenated)

After the business meeting is concluded, we can answer any questions from newcomers. If there are any newcomers who cannot stay but have urgent questions, would someone please arrange to meet the newcomer in chat later today, or contact via phone or email?

Once everyone has successfully found the business meeting room, we will clear the scroll from this 12step meeting room.

Let us now take a two-minute break for the rest room and then proceed to the business meeting. The business meeting usually lasts anywhere from 15-30 minutes.

Will someone volunteer to stay behind and type lines into the chat to clear the scroll history, to protect all our anonymity? (As soon as everyone has transitioned to other room). You'll join the business meeting when you finish clearing the scroll here.

We clear the scroll by typing any character followed by the enter key, over and over, as fast as you wish. By clearing the scroll thus, anyone entering the meeting room later today will not be able to read our 12step meeting.
