HAPPY FRIDAY, EVERYBODY!

THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY!

Tool Three of PA:  Ask Yourself Why:

While you are visualizing doing the task, see if you can detect what it is about the task that feels odious to you, what uncomfortable feeling you are avoiding. Knowing what's behind the avoidance can help you get past it - for example, address real problems or ignore irrational fears.

Have a great proactive day!

Peace

Hazyjane check-in

It feels a bit late to be doing this, gone 8pm here, but I know this stuff helps so I really really want to get back into the habit of posting my intentions and actions.

  • plan my activities over the weekend. I need to make some time for study/writing/research for Uni, as it's getting hectic getting towards the end of the year.
  • do some decluttering (I resist this badly!!! Time to get to grips with it...)
  • clear off and sort through the pile of clothes on top of my chest of drawers.
  • walk the dogs.
  • get to bed early(ish)

I also want to relax, do some reading, watch a bit of tv... but because of my late start today and general, what was the word? Lollygagging?... anyway, because of not having any proper focus, I wasted many hours today and I really shouldn't indulge myself. Work for a reward, don't reward the not working...

Saturday morning: went to bed late so am now up late, second day in a row: this is not the best way to start the weekend...

I got your message! :)

alright 4change

read your post about lollygagging before getting stareted--while i was lollygagging before getting started.

And i got inspired. No more PA atm, just get started with very important work that people are waiting for.

Progress with a small p

I have been doing better at work, although I continue to run behind.  I have even been managing to leave work earlier to have a little personal time at home.  Two key issues remain.  A major obstacle for me is my difficulty getting started.  I routinely lollygag most of the morning before getting serious in the afternoon and into the evening.  I also have a significant problem making time to work on big projects, so that they tend to pile up.  I really need to focus on these two areas if I want to inch forward.

Goal 1: Grab something and *get started*.  It doesn't matter what.  My anxiety and indecisiveness about what to begin with is the first part of this obstacle I need to surmount. The fact I would rather be doing something more enjoyable feeds my ambivalence about starting.  10:45 A - noon

Goal 2: Attend a scheduled meeting in building next door noon-1 P

Goal 3: Return to my building promptly (eliminating another opportunity to meander) and have a quick lunch 1:15-1:45 P

Goal 4: Work intently for a 4 hour block, averaging 30 minutes per case, with leg stretching and bath room breaks as needed 1:45-5:45 P

Goal 5: 30 minute "real" break 5:45-6:15 P

Goal 6: Concentrate again for a 2 hour block 6:15-8:15 P

Goal 7: Spend 15 minutes as a first step to organizing my cluttered office.  I tend to make a pile of things when I am unsure what to do with them.  However, once a little time passes, I am even less likely know what to do with them.  I *dream* of having a nice, tight desktop with only the essentials visible, and everything filed in a logical place rather than a mishmash of important and useless things with no rhyme or reason.

Goal 8: LEAVE AT 8:30 PM.  NO EXCUSES.

Goal 9: BED BY 11:30 PM.  NO EXCUSES.

Regarding these last two, I will have to work this weekend, catching up on daily work and
especially on the big projects which are gathering dust, so I do not
want to do my usual of staying Friday night until after 11 PM, then
staying up late at home, which makes me get up late Saturday and get the
weekend off to a slow start.  I also have to finish up as much as I can
at home of more heinous divorce related financial paperwork, which never seems
to end, and, along the same lines of pain, try to chip away at my overdue
(extension filed, fortunately) and greatly anxiety provoking income tax
return.  Bottom line, have to set the dominoes properly if I want them to fall my way: "early" to leave work, early bedtime, early rise, more gets done.  At least, that is my hope.  Back to report.

Hypatia's check-in

Had a good day yesterday.  Spent the day preparing for an exhibition next week.  It was essential work, but not the stuff that normally grind sme down so i came away quite happy.  Today it's back to backlogged reports, and I'm getting stuck just thinking about it.  Off to the chat room, I think.

  • e-mails
  • panel reports x3
  • find court report
  • filing
  • in-tray
