P. A. Recovery Tool #5:
Avoid Time-Bingeing
One reason procrastinators dread starting is that
once they start, they don't let themselves stop.
Plan to work on a task for a defined period of time,
then set a timer.
When the timer goes off, you're done.

So far, a productive morning - dropped off DD, picked up groceries, loaded laundry.
Plan for today:
CS 101 -lecture+quizResearch - databaseRead -Kindle- while cycling??Household:
LaundryDishesLiving room- finish up!I can totally relate to time bingeing - even the timer doesn't work for me. I just tune out the beeper and keep on going until tired. Totally wrong approach.

I have not been showing up lately, not even sure if I've been procrastinating - more like the pace of my life has slowed down to what feels manageable for me. The last team work binge - it's how our company functions on major proposal deadlines - left me physically ill and I have not really recovered my stamina. So i've welcomed the slower pace, and can barely even work up anxiety about the future paychecks that will be unbelievably small, given the limited billable work before me. I'm just exhausted, and I've caught a head cold to boot. whine, whine, wine!
OK, enough of that now. It's time to move! Already completed today are:
Breakfast
Sponsee and sponsor calls
Pet care
J awakening
Coupla work calls and printing tasks
Still to do are:
Go buy some cold medicine for me and J!
Email my edits to the cmg guy
ADD: Prepare for board mtng! (almost forgot, sheesh!)
Schedule a chiro appt
Schedule vet appt
Schedule a play visit for TJ with some other doggies
Download the editing work due tomorrow
Complete at least half the edit jobs due tomorrow
Catch up cjc emails
Schedule at least 3 lab tests
Start my final report on Proj B
kromer 10:05 CI
I have a mtg w/ my adviser tomorrow, so I need to focus today.

Finish fig. 4Update textMake and add flattened figuresEmail DPEmail EA
I need to analyze some data:
Stage 4 samples
Figure out how to tag cells by image (and maybe type) in the codeProject data, figure out boundaries and take notes on appearances (will do this soon)
Stage tubules for S8/R8 project
Threshold data(will do this soon)
And I need to do a few chores:
Deacon emails
Email project summaryWash buffer (will do this soon)
Email MK
And I'll go to farewell dinner w/ friends.
InnerTruth's check-in
For the past two days I have met or had long phone calls with friends during the day.
I'm so upset about it that I can't get anything done for the rest of the day as I let them take time away from my most productive time of the day instead of talking to them after I've done my work.
I went to my part-time job extrememy depressed and made quite a few mistakes. Then I was upset at myself for the mistakes and made more mistakes. I calmed down by the end of my shift.
Task list for today:
Check email
Call Marcia
Pay MC
Tony LI
Newsletter article 10 - 1 (take several 10 minute breaks to wash dishes)

Happy Thursday - off to a good start, I've been to the gym, was on time to work and I'm prepping for a meeting that starts in 5 minutes. I'll finish the meeting, publish the minutes, then make my todo list for the rest of the day. I'll check back if stuck otherwise have an enjoyable and productive day everyone.
