P.A. Recovery Tool #4:
Focus on the Long-Term:
Procrastinators have a tendency to focus on short-term pleasure,
and shut out awareness of long-term consequences.
Remind yourself how panicked and awful you'll feel if the task isn't done,
then imagine how good it will feel when the task is finished.


To add a personal contemplation idea to the above tool:
I don't over-focus on the bad feelings, because that might lead to
"awful-izing" or "catastroph-izing".
I simply do a QUICK remembering of how procrastination leads to chaos,
but then I re-direct my thinking as follows:

I contemplate the following:

Higher Power, Greater Wisdom, what is the Big Picture?
What long-term goals do you envision for me?
How does this action fit into that?
What can my next right action be -- right now?
What will lead me on the path to *real* joy?

Thanks for the starter movingalong, just what I needed.

My big picture- my power is in the NOW. I can't change the past or know the future, but I do know my hp never lets me down, so I need to turn everything/everyone over over.

Forgive myself for being so co dependent and not taking care of self. Forgive others "for they know not what they do" and let hp be the judge.

Do the next 3 things, get momentumgoing. go to chat box. Meditate on graditude, spiritual energy needs to be fed.

 

My evenings to-do

Oh Higher Power - I have persistently ignored you all day and surprise surprise - wasted my precious time.

 For tonight:

1. first module online

 2. read 5 autonomic questions

3. in bed by 1am

4. alarm for 6am to commit day to higher power.

Journey 8 am

New unexpected project arrived yesterday.   Today is very busy with long meetings and I'm kind of dreading it and I'm just sitting around instead of getting to work!   Bookending exercise, breakfast, and todo list.   I'll check back with todo list by 10.

Update 1 pm - well I never came back with todo list but I'm here and working fairly well.   It's a little late to write down the tdl in here so I'll just keep it on paper today.  Have a productive day!

Thanks for the Recovery Tools, movingalong!

Back from Melbourne again last night, spent Mother's Day with my mother and sons :). Also running round and jobs to support my elderly mother; took yesterday off to do more of that and then travel home. Just trying to get back into things; there is one job I have promised to deliver today but it shouldn't be so hard.

Will start with weekly list and remember that I need to progress and if possible finish project K this week.
