Recycler CI Feb 4 6:15pm EST

Hi!

6am Up, walked puppy, put puppy in box. Took out trash & cardboard boxes. Brought box to mail. Went to store; bought items on list. Ate breakfast. Mailed package & 2 Valentine cards. Puppy school; puppy misbehaved ((sigh)). Came home and went to bed for nap.

2pm. Up, walked puppy, ate lunch. Listened to music. Washed clothes and dishes. Cleaned 2 bathrooms. Prepared birthday card and gift for friend. 4-5pm. Friend visited.

5pm. Ate snack, then took puppy for walk. Checked email and internet. Took puppy for another walk, and fed puppy.

Next: playtime, but it still takes some effort. Put towel on counter. Move older dolls from table to counter. Set up new display on table to photograph. Try some pics. Eat dinner.

Have a great night! :)

Thank you, gals & guys, for being here! :)

Getting Started 2/4/2012

So I have this huge project to do. And I know I can get it done, because it's about 1 year too late, and I have to do it or I lose everything. So getting it done will be the easy part. The hard part is, keep UP WITH THE WORK SO IT DOESN"T HAPPEN AGAIN!!!! This will require self-honesty and an act of God for me.

 Please pray for me.

So far, I'm about 4.5 hours into what I wanted to accomplish today. Looks like I have 4.5 hours more to go before I sleep.

I'm setting my timer now...

clement ci--dreaded taxes

re: i think if i saw somebody post about taxes, i would mentally just block it out. It's so overwhelming. And i'm not as bad as some people who have back taxes, it's just this year. But still, i avoid it like the plague. So avoidant.

so my pledge: to myself, let myself think about taxes. warm up to it in Feb, so it's not overwhelming in April.

i am so blessed by you all.

"take what you like, leave the rest"

"inbox 0" - great term. thanks hypatia.

agnus: "too much prayer" i have also had the problem of the read / pray / meditate taking too long. I have come to believe that i can procrastinate on those types of tasks as well as net surfing. I firmly believe God wants me to serve my coworkers with excellence. I have had some success with hard cut-off with quiet time. 20 or 30 min then no matter what, stop. It has worked.

"I won't have money to buy myself presents if I don't do my job, will I?" -journey. ha ha. yet, so true!

Inbox zero

Inbox Zero is a very useful  term from David Allen's "Getting Things Done".  There's a lovely feeling about opening Outlook and seeing either nothing,  or only the couple of e-mails that have turned up in the last few hours.

Falcon CI Sat.

Hi everyone,

I started my new job and I absolutely love it!  I never thought I'd say that about a job (and I'm sure there will be days when I won't say that about this one either.  Smile)  It's very engaging and I have a lot more ownership than any job I've had before -- I didn't know I was going to like being in charge so much!

I've had a lot of other stuff going on in my life, too.  Trying to be there for some people in my personal life who are needing support right now.

So my head is kind of buzzing, and my top priority this weekend is to take care of myself, get some exercise for my body and clearing-out time for my brain.  I need a long walk in the woods, and maybe a nap.

Also important (but not the first priority) are:

  • Pay bills (gotta do this)
  • Do laundry (gotta do this, too)
  • Make chocolates (gotta do) -- maybe shop for fancy box or ribbon or something for the chocolates, too
  • Clean moldy things out of fridge
  • Email A
  • Email S
  • Email L/A?
  • Call R
  • Buy picture frames (not urgent but I would really like to)
  • Get oil change (hey, garage is near picture frame store!  This could work!)
  • Order calendar online
  • Research buying mattresses

Wow, more on my plate than I realized.  And I do need that restorative time for myself before anything.  I'd better get started on that!

Catch you all later,

Falcon

yea falcon

so i am very inspired about how you're trying to take care of your friends. Your head is spinning. With your new job 'n all. What a privilege to be so positioned that you can care for others. I really hope your restorative time is just that. It is important for you to keep up your strength and perspective so you can be strong for others. I pray for you.

During an airplane hull breach, adults have to secure their own oxygen mask before they secure their child's. Otherwise they'll pass out and no one will be helped.

Strength to you Falcon!

Oxygen mask

Absolutely!  My mom's a retired therapist, and she used to use that oxygen mask analogy all the time with her clients.  If you don't take care of yourself first, you won't be able to take care of anyone else.  (Now my sweetheart uses it if she thinks I'm overdoing it on taking care of her, "Remember, you have to put your own oxygen mask on first!")

Falcon

Congrats Falcon!

On having a new job and so far loving it! That's great you have a great vibe already, I'm usually very intimidated when I am in anew setting.

Congrats! :D

Journey 8:30 confession

Did not check in yesterday and, unsurprisingly, didn't do that well.   I have a goal of 'no non-work computer activities at work' and I confess I did a lot of online window shopping for something I want for my birthday in a couple of weeks  :?.   I wasted at least 2 hours.  I won't have money to buy myself presents if I don't do my job, will I?  I'll forgive myself and recommit to my goal on Monday.  If I want to do personal computer stuff, I'll write it down and do it when I get home.  And today,  I'll plan what to do and do what I plan.

Today's list:

  • Invite kids to dinner
  • quiet time
  • grocery list
  • exercise
  • finish last chapter of lib book
  • visit mom
  • petsmart
  • grocery store
  • library
  • donate coats
  • put away groceries
  • quick clean of guest bathroom
  • quick clean of dining room and kitchen
  • make dinner
  • enjoy time with family

Rexroth Check Out

Just wrote a detailed post and internet went down and I lost the lot. So trying to be grown up I shall write it again

Phoned two friends and in my state of low mood decided that niether really wished to hear from me

Felt so anxious earlier this afternoon that I could not get on with things so I worked on them using the CBT techniques I had learned a while back when I was treated for depression. I have a lot of work to do on these but feel a lot better and brighter already

Cleaned cleared and tidied, washing up done, rubbish out, emails checked etc.

Todo:
A little on my journal to finish the day
Prayer and reflection
Bed and sleep

Night Rexroth

Hi Rexroth

Well done for spotting your low mood and anxiety, and using your CBT techniques to work on them - you did the right thing, in a situation which was pushing you not to, and  what you did helped.

That's got to be a habit worth having.
