11am:

gr8 workout and quiet time today! feel on top of the world.

who knows what today will hold, however.

still, the idea if SUBMITTING myself to a schedule causes me stress in the belly.

Here for strength. God pls give me strength.

11:20 update:

I am behind schedule.

i have realized that as compul procras i will almost always fail at my schedule--meaning not doing things "on time." Still, having a schedule will make me more productive than not having one, even if i never, ever "succeed" meaning following it perfectly.

so there.

Innertruth's Friday check-in

Great networking event last night!

Ran into several people who could be of help to me in my job search. One person works at a company that I applied to and he is going to advocate on my behalf with the hiring manager.

Another person said she will try to se what she can do. She's going on an extended vacation so i will contact her in the new year.

Somebody else said she has a contract position at the organization that I'm interviewing with today. I know she wants a full-time job so I hope she's not my competition. I think the job's too junior for her.

Had very bad phone call with my sister who keeps harassing me about my efforts to find a job. She makes suggestions that are not very practical such as applying for jobs where I don't have the proper certification for. Then I have to investigate why I'm not suitable for the position and report back to her. I knew that I wouldn't be able to get a job as an ESL teacher at community college but I give her proof that they wouldn't hire me.

Then she said why don't you try dog walking for extra money. I've said many times that picking up dog poop literally makes me gag and I feel sick to my stomach doing it. Could you imagine walking dogs in the park and taking a break to barf in a garbage can?

Tasks for today:

  • Make phone calls to list (1 o/s)
  • email resume to PF
  • prepare for 3:45 pm job interview
  • run
  • go to grocery store
  • go online to get flyer for drugstore specials
  • wash dishes, handwash sweater, read newspaper, recycle

Check emails 2 x today.(checked too mnay times)

Check-in chatbox around 2 pm afternoon (I spent too much time here to avoid working)

"to do" list for Saturday

READING #1 Guilt

It was often a feeling of guilt, which led us to procrastinate, and the more we procrastinated, the guiltier we felt. A Fourth Step inventory can pinpoint the reasons for the guilt that we still experience, and by taking the Fifth Step we are able to express and release this guilt.

Some of our guilt feelings are unnecessary. We may experience a sense of guilt when we say no to requests and demands, which infringe on our legitimate rights. We may feel guilty when we do not live up to the expectations of someone close to us. We need to develop a strong sense of self worth so that we do not suffer from guilt at not conforming to someone else's image of who we should be.

Working our program relieves us of unnecessary guilt. When we make amends to those we have in fact injured, we are freed from a heavy burden of real guilt. When we experience confirmation of who we are through contact with our Higher Power, we are liberated from the constraint of imagined guilt.

Show us how to deal with guilt.

Journey 9:30

Good morning!   It's Friday and I am not working this weekend, as a matter of fact I should not have to work any weekends for the rest of the year.  I do have a busy weekend planned though as it's my grandson's 5th birthday and my husband has a neighborhood reunion from his elementary school days.   I am not really looking forward to the reunion as I will only know a couple of people and I don't really like parties.   My husband loves parties so I know he will want to stay late too.   Oh well, this is one reason he is good for me, he forces me to socialize when I would really like to stay home and read or surf the net.   I used to have a couple drinks in this situation but I don't really enjoy drinking alcohol any more so I guess I'll just white knuckle it.   Well, I can cross that bridge when I get to it, no point in getting myself all worked up about today eh?

Yesterday was an excellent day . . . I didn't make as much progress on the new project as I wanted but I worked on it diligently.   I'm floundering a bit as I don't really know what to do so I spend too much time figuring out the next step.   The BIC seems to always know what to do and how to do it.   I want to be more like that!

Off to make to do list - it's pretty straightforward today and I will be spending the afternoon in the lab with the BIC so she will be setting the agenda for the afternoon and working with me, so I'm sure I'll stay focused.  Scared, but focused!  I'm just kidding, it should be fun actually, although I may have to struggle a bit to keep up with her lightning fast mind.

So Imma try to keep my todo list on my own today.   I'll check back if I get stuck.

Jo

Be confident.  Stay focused.   One thing at a time.

Today I got up more-or-less on time, which is a BIG triumph for me. And I'm in work at a reasonable hour, which is awesome.

However, I'm still horrifically behind this week.

Highest priority
*Final clustering results (this has been my productivity-destroyer this
week): filter, new normalization, do k-means, hierarchical clustering
within clusters. (I don't have to look at my results today, I just have
to get the clusters)

*Look at R10 slides
*Check on exptx2 (did 1st check)

Next priority:
*Image 2 slides & put together montages
*Deacon reminders
*Print out papers so I can work on report from home (almost done w/ this. I want to go to the library and get one journal though)

Lowest priority
*ANOVA
*Financial records update
*Read 2 papers

Scheduled:
*Research progress update
*Youth group
*Seminar

today's ONE thing...

See if I can find a number to call or a website to visit, where I can sign up for "DO NOT CALL" for my new cell phone. I remember doing it years ago for my land-line. I still got some calls from charities and political folks, but it seemed to cut down on the pure commercial calls. Thanks.

Steppin check in

To do: Send letter to the bank, send letter to insurance, return letters with the wrong address, piano practice, organ practice, make phonecall.

Steppin check in

Did barely get anything, mostly because I only got a few hours of sleep last night, and had to take an afternoon nap, that got out of hand. But even though I woke up late in the evening, i could still have managed to do a little. It's really true, you shouldn't wait for big blocks of time. They never come, and when you think you do, something else probably comes up. Bummer.

Quote for the day

"I fairly sizzle with zeal and enthusiasm
and I spring forth with a mighty faith
to do the things that ought to be done by me."

--Charles Fillmore (at age 93)
