Saturday&Sunday 12step chatbox PA meeting need participants!
The Saturday meeting has been going since November 2010.
The Sunday meeting has been going since April 2008.
We need participants for these meetings.
Attendance has been sporadic.
Sometimes only one or two people. Occasionally we have 5 or 6 -- and that makes a dynamic meeting. But unfortunately the usual attendance is much less.
At this point, we are planning to cancel these meetings unless there is real interest.
The same two people have been facilitating these meetings every week, by making sure that someone (usually themselves) is there to "host" or "anchor" the meeting. This means that they commit to being there and starting the meeting on time, regardless if anyone is there or not. Sometimes stragglers join in. But sometimes the meeting leader just types the entire meeting into the chatbox by himself/herself with Higherpower being the only other attendee.
It is not healthy to have the same two people continuing to do this service. We need others to step in, in order to make these meetings truly serve as a vital and dynamic recovery process.
If there is no active interest, the meeting facilitators have decided to shut these meetings down in a few weeks.
If you feel called to come to these meetings, please do so. They are scheduled so that they are midday/afternoon in USA, late evening in Europe, and very very early in Asia/Pacific. The times were chosen so as to be accessible worldwide.
Thank you.
Polease wait...
I know a lady who had been going to a meeting by herself for a year before I, the second person showed up. She was there for me when I needed her to be...Where 2/two or more are gathered...look in the AA big book...its about one person helping another...not one person helping a certain amount of others...5 ot 6 is pretty good! If you don't need the meeting, the meeting needs you...Principles over personalities...Remember, this site/organization is dealing with procrastinators...maybe advertise better on this website...I saw that this was posted a few minuts ago and thought maybe I could join the meeting, but this post doesn't tell the times! Pain in the neck...now I have to search to find the tmes and it's probably too late to join in...WE are dealing with imperfect people here...patience, tolerance, and love...please...
re: waiting for participants
As I said. we usually have only one or two people.
(Five or six is very rare.)
We've been waiting for 11 months on Saturdays,
and waiting for THREE YEARS on Sundays.
But no increase of participation.
This is not an abandonment of a meeting.
This is following the Traditions which say that the same people should not continue as the organizers forever ... After a certain period of time, the duties of "trusted servant" should rotate.
The facilitators have been here because they want their own recovery and are willing to work with others on theirs. They know that recovery comes from working together. That is why I've come every Sunday, no matter what, for three and a half years. Sharing in the meeting chatroom with others and with higherpower helps me and helps others, and that's why I do it. But ... it has become "my" meeting and that is unhealthy. It must become a meeting that belongs to everyone and therefore others would need to step forward. The other facilitator has faithfully been present every Saturday, but is often the only person there.
At every meeting that actually has participants, we've announced that we need someone new to step forward and serve as a meeting anchor. But nobody does.
Regarding publicity:
I see that you could not find the meeting time? The meeting time is listed in the post that is right above the post that you replied to.
If you have trouble finding the time, read this for exact info in every timezone.

Sometimes we have to let go and embrace acceptance. If there is no real interest in the meeting, then we let it go. Others can start up a meeting at any time, if they wish to do so.
Frankly, posting my message of letting go ... is part of my recovery. I have been procrastinating posting this for some time. It is very difficult for me to write such thoughts. I would rather procrastinate bringing this up ... and then continue to host an empty meeting. But my recovery is based on following certain principles, so I needed to be brave and just post the truth.
Thee are some PA phone meetings that still exist, and you can click on the meeting button at the top of this page to find the schedule.
