Thanks for the starter, lennon.

Very distracted today as my mother is quite ill and I don't know if or when I will have to rush off to Melbourne (nearly 3 hours drive away) to help her.

Will try to focus on getting some things done while I can.

Thank you all for this site.

Journey 10:00 the magic of 48 minutes

Back in the office today and I am happy to report that yesterday was a very productive work from home day.   I have been doing the pomodoro method - working 20 minutes, taking a 10 minutes break.   That way I get up and move around every half hour and work a little bit on a household chore, or whatever.   The other day I read on lifehacker that 48/12 is the optimum work/break time.   I tried it and it really worked for me!

http://successbeginstoday.org/wordpress/2006/09/the-power-of-48-minutes/

I don't think there is anythign magic about the numbers, I just think 20 minutes is too short for me to get into the 'flow' of my work and 48 minutes is long enough.   I worked fewer total hours, and did my chores after work was finished instead of fitting them in throughout the day.   I felt more productive and finished work at an earlier hour.  I still make a point of getting up and moving around for those 12 minutes, as I don't think it's good for you to sit for long periods of time without stretching your legs a bit.

Anyway, give it a try!
