wOW! i HAVE BEEN PROCRASTINATING THAT ALL SUMMER! hOW REDICULOUS!!
Easy for me to say in hindsight, right?
But isn't that why I am here on this website to begin with!?
Yesterday, I had such a productive day! I started with a decison to just start...not start by getting on the computer and writing what I would do...I just got to it! It felt good to knock some stuff out without the talkng about it first...I was tired but instead of giving in too lieing down...I kept my body moving...slow but steady...in the end, I couldn't believe how much I got done! Why did it take all summer to get that done? Many theories but really...the moral of the story is that if I keep it up, then I won't ever have to procrastinate it again...Keeping it up is the hard part...life happens...But in the process of joining this website, and posting, and trying to practice the FLYlady routines, I have diminished my inertia to a degree...if I keep it up and keep things in moderation...maybe I will be on good solid ground and moving forward...as they say in AA One Day at a Time...based on my spiritual condition...Now, I am tired after a good first day of work so I shall sign off...Thanks for being here PA!
Wow, this moving is making me a little bit crazy. I am having a hard time staying balanced.
OK, well so far today I have been to mtg and sent a bunch of emails about moving and worked on rescheduling mtg.
I have a LOT of other stuff to do today:
*Go to target/home depot, get shower curtain and band clamps
*Start hybs
*Move food downstairs, check pl.
*Finish shelf
*Pack tools
*Start geno.
*Update records
*Get some exercise
*Mail
OK, yikes! I guess I'll start with the records, food/pl., geno, and mailing. Then I'll go to target.
shower and prepare for 8:00 appointment(appointment itself was canceled at about 7:15 by provider) check SR
post this at PA
job work:
incorporate rcts(did what I could on this; still awaiting one expert)
brainstorm micro-steps for researching refresh needs and planning how to meet them
brainstorm how to proceed with updating backburnered "internal" files
cook rice
make 20min. timed progress with kitchen cleaning or laundry (did about 10 minutes) ck Rx status
reply J
do at least 15 minutes of Qi Gong use Balancer take bedtime prescription
bed w/ lights & sound off by 22:30 (nope)
Why and How:
As part of choosing to have a satisfying amount of accomplishment,
today, and making my surroundings more pleasing, I will postpone
print fiction reading and computer activities involving LJ, photos, and fan-fiction until after 18:00 AND after doing at least 20min. of kitchen clean-up and/or laundry work. Before I've met those conditions, I will also limit any online LNow browsing to 15 timed minutes. (did so-so with this -- pretty much waited until after 18:00 but never did finish 20 minutes of house chores)
As part of nourishing and rebuilding my personal integrity,
I commit to doing at least 30 minutes of job work before doing any of
the following as a reward, starting now: (did fairly well at this, but not perfectly--need to be more explicit about doing at least 30 minutes of work between each reward)
Checking personal email
Taking photos (timed 15min max)
Coloring (and after coloring one item, if the time is before 18:00, I will do at least another 30 minutes of job work before coloring again)
As part of caring for my body, today, I will do at least 15min. of Qi Gong, use the Balancer and turn the computer off by 22:00. Further, I will choose to move toward bed and sleep after 22:00, postponing ALL reading and listening until another day. (wasn't willing to postpone reading OR listening after 22:00. Got to bed a little earlier than the last couple of nights, but still quite late)
Additional Possibilities:
clean shoes!
cook rhubarb
change towel
draft G email re economic course
do th h/w journaling re self-abandonment (or self-sabotage)
think re &/or experiment w/ dance solo
research ordering new braces
make initial Tai Chi mp3 recording?
Thanks to all for reading and posting. You have been a great help to me. I'm continuing to try to wean myself from posting long, daily task lists on Procrastinators Anonymous. Instead, I've been doing a daily plan on Outlook, just as I have done for many years. The idea is that I'll be able to more accurately schedule my time, so I won't overschedule so much as I do when just making a list on PA, and I'll at the same time maintain the diligence and consistency that PA has helped me to achieve. So far, results are mixed. I've done well sometimes, poorly others. The problem is getting distracted by online political discussions, at the moment. I'm still working on it.
So, I am feeling down because of family problems, and feeling that I am becoming progressively more of an afterthought. I was really irritated last night when one of my daughters was giving her mom credit for something that was my idea, and that I had to be very persistent about to overcome their mom's resistance and get her to enroll them. I was also "dinged" at work for my TAT for the first 6 months of 2011. On the brighter side (slightly), my second quarter TAT was better than my first quarter TAT, although still significantly longer than the cumulative group's mean and median. Also on the brighter side, my backlog of old and overdue cases has diminished greatly, so today I feel better about that. Nonetheless, I am still behind, it is hard for me to get things done promptly, and I still stay here at work much too long, so that I can't attain any work-life balance. Life is what I can squeeze in around work. Well, enough complaining. Maybe work will help my dark mood to lift a little.
Goal 1: Work until 3 PM (with break for lunch) on yesterday's unfinished cases.
Goal 2: Work from 3 PM until 6:30 PM on major presentation for Friday. It was mercifully postponed due to potential inclement weather last week, but that allowed me to set it aside and continue trying to eliminate my backlog of cases.
Goal 3: Dinner break 6:30 to 7:30 PM
Goal 4: Assess at 7:30 PM. Choose to press on until 9 PM (no later!!!) or leave at 7:30 PM. Would prefer to leave at 7:30 PM or so for once, but not optimistic I will feel able to.
Happy Tuesday! Working from home today. I finished a major part of my big project yesterday so I'm in that transition mode and I don't want to start the next big part. I'm really enjoying this project even though the timeline makes it a little stressful, it's exactly the kind of work I like to do best. So why am I avoiding getting started? Well that is the million dollar procrastinator's question, isn't it ?
I had a good run this morning. . . I think I've progressed to the point that I can call it running now, although it's more like a slow awkward trot lol . ..and read email. I need to check my calendar, then make todo list. It shouldn't be too hard because I know my #1 MIT is to install the products on top of the base system. I have several houseworky items I want to get done also, and I need to run to the drug store and pick up a prescription. I could have done that last night but I went to library instead which was much more fun.

I'm glad your work has noticed your improvement! You can continue to improve. I am sorry to hear about the family problems though, that is sad.
