Weds July 21 - back here

Well I spent the past 4 months or so working on my own on thse issues and not getting any more productive and facing intense demand resistance from myself. I need and want the 12 step process. I have never been in a 12 step program and I find the online to not be "real" enough for me but it may be that if I do it daily and participate in a meeting in my city even if it's directed at alcohol or adult child of alcoholic (which I am) --- I will be more connected and less in denial. That would be fantastic. I read the promises for recovery and I almost cried reading them thinking what that would feel like.

Tonight: send email to clients (1. V/F & 2. C & 3. new one)

4. Call Vivian

5. Clean office before I leave  (5 minutes)

6. billing for today

7. look at calendar for tomorrow

Show up (done) Where else but here could I say I am feeling tramatized because now I need to make a call about the last year disaster and don;t know if I am too late already which would only add to the disaster, etc. etc. when I think of starting, I stop breathing. Feeling so bad about myself, which of course justifies my feelings in my head.

Thanks

Made headway- not "the phone call" , but some information needed for the phone call. now 1. find phone number 2, call

prayers for a successful phone call!

hope4meandu checkin (1:50PM)

Hi All,

Wow, feel so beaten up in my life recently and trying not to react, but that is proving hard. Feel like I'm not allowed to be nice, as it pisses people off. Not trying to, just trying to be the best I can be. Don't really have the will to tell myself, it's okay and keep going, don't let them get to you. It's already gotten to me. Don't know how to get "me" back.

Have really fallen downward on my apartment cleaning - UGH!!

Today:
-find out from nf how to send cd back if envelope is damaged.
-bank & store
-sweep apartment
-wash s
-clean oven?
-workout 10 minutes today, Friday & Sunday - be careful of ankle

Will try to put a positive spin on work, even though most of my day is getting yelled at or snotted on by someone. Because of this, which usually starts from my boss, I steal time at work, which I'm doing today. Not the best solution, but....

Anyway, kind regards all and hope you're all doing great!!

♥Prayers & guidance needed & appreciated for my Yoffee's healing.♥

(Hope4)

When I am in that ind of situation, I try to remember the Big Book, p 66,67

"We began to see that the world and its people really dominated us. In that state, the wrong-doing of others, fancied or real, had power to actually kill. How could we escape? We saw that these resentments must be mastered, but how? We could not wish them away any more than alcohol.

Though we did not like their symptoms and the way these disturbed us, they, like ourselves, were sick too. We asked God to help us show them the same tolerance, pity, and patience that we would cheerfully grant a sick friend. When a person offended we said to ourselves, "This is a sick man. How can I be helpful to him? God save me from being angry. Thy will be done."
We avoid retaliation or argument. We wouldn't treat sick people that way. If we do, we destroy our chance of being helpful. We cannot be helpful to all people, but at least God will show us how to take a kindly and tolerant view of each and every one. This was our course: We realized that the people who wronged us were perhaps spiritually sick. "

thanks for this vic, very

thanks for this vic, very helpful to me

Yes thanks (Vic) good reminder

♥Prayers & guidance needed & appreciated for my Yoffee's healing.♥

Trying to focus

12:03 PM: Feeling anxious today. Thought I had too much sugar or caffeine, but it seems to be something else. I am feeling pressure to finish and mail some paperwork related to my future employment, which is overdue, and that may be the trigger, as I also have to keep working on catching up here.  As a result, having trouble getting started on either. But calls keep coming in about overdue reports, so I will have to concentrate on that and clear the other from my mind.

Goal: 12:35 - 4 PM: Complete as many short reports and followups as possible, to see some clearing of the path before me.

4 - 5 PM: Phone meeting

Funny, just putting off the other task and I feel calmer. Anyway, back to report later.

Goal Allegro Check In 21 July 2010

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I've been back here. Will be going away soon on a ski holiday, but I'm not going to let it get in the way of my daily need to mindfulness about procrastination.

saw sharpening

It's from a phrase by Stephen R. Covey: "don't get so busy sawing that you forget to sharpen the saw!"  In other words, it means things such as prayer, scripture study, planning, exercise, etc.

welcome ScottY by MD

Hi there:  Glad to see another member from this same "state" -- geographic, that is, as well as the state of affairs which brought us all here. Welcome!

Thanks!

MD,

Thanks so much for the welcoming words!  I think it will make a difference to my progress to start getting to know, a bit, the real people behind the posts.  Makes the feeling of connection and accountability stronger.  And I hope to be a blessing to others as well through my support of them.

I'm actually pretty close to DC, so we are probably not very far apart at all geographically.

Take care and thanks again!

Am thinking of trying to get  an informal, occasional, and/or even-just-one-time  "Proc-anonymous" face-to-face meeting somewhere in these parts. Let me know if you have even passing interest. It always take one person or two to buckle down and set up & get started, so "I'm that guy," for now. We might have 1-2 more (no more than that). Think and contact me directly if interested, or let me when you are on chatbox or phone bridge if at all. Cheers/Thanks.

Today I need to get started on my thesis proposal. This is top priority
Steps for that are:
*Start master project page
*2 (logged, focused) hrs working on Aal-A1 transition
*Set up mtg
*Schedule for prep

I also need to:
*Ask for presentation feedback (tried this, but no one would criticize me! need to come up w/ a new plan for improving my speaking skills)
*Clear WM queue
*Email S (going to do this soon)

Lower priority are:
*Finish up/record genotyping (mostly done)
*1 hr work on diff EQ project
*Order RA, look for paper

Finally, I have some non-work tasks to do (bold are MITs):
*harambee email
*ask labmate about husband is hospital
*list
*call home
*bank

OK, I'm going to start by setting up the master progress page.

Jo

Update 9:15 daughter beat me to the bathroom so I made my todo list.  18 hours of stuff!  Back to do triage.

  • Planning
  • Bathe/dress for dr. appt. -30 minutes

Update 5:15 done with the horrid calendars.  I still have questions so I will have to ask the BIC tomorrow, but I did as much as possible!  Going to unload the dishwasher and then come back and do another half hour or so of work.   I'm not going to get to the U install but hopefully I can get to it before the BIC arrives in the morning, I usually get there much earlier than she.  Of course, she stays a lot later than I do so it balances.

double spaced in the eye of the beholder?

your post does not appear double spaced to me. each item on the list is single space in my view.

i'd capture it and post a graphic of it, but i have to think abt how to do that...

Hi Rexroth and good day,

Hi Rexroth and good day, thanks for the welcome

you can edit your own posts anytime until someone else replies. You do that by pressing the edit button below your post. Then your post will show up again on the screen accompanied by all the same formatting stuff as the first time when you made it. But once someone replies, you can no longer change things... thanks for solidarity.

re: editing posts

What Chickadee says is true, regarding the posts inside a thread.  If you make a post INSIDE a thread, you can edit it, up until the time someone replies.  Edit by clicking on "edit" at bottom of your post. It's right next to the word "reply".

However, if you START a thread, you can ALWAYS edit your own threadSTARTER, by clicking the "edit" TAB at TOP of the starter. This is true, regardless of how many people reply to the thread.

In either case, you can see the edit option only if YOU made the post, and only if you are logged in.

I think today's thread-starter is just fine, and I do feel welcome!

Rexroth Check In

'Welome' yes I do mean welcome but I'm sure you get the idea and I can't find how to alter it.
