hope4meandu check-in (7:32PM)

Hi All,

Just want to turn over 10 minutes of exercise Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday this week. I'm really going to have to learn how to care and be nice to my battered body and I sense some willingness, YAY!!

I also heard something today that I wanted to pass on, for whatever it's worth, that the disease is what wants to hurt me with all my addictions (procrastination) not me. I found that helpful in some sort of way.

Having a "no cleaning" inner tantrum, unless we're having company and then I have no choice (which is really what gets me to clean anyway).

Tonight will work on ML project for one hour starting now.

Take good care, All.

Boston Area Face to Face Meeting tonight

Hello to all PA-ers in the Boston area. As many of you know, but new folks might not know, there is a weekly face to face meeting Monday nights in Cambridge from 7:30 until 8:30 PM at the First Church Cambridge at 11 Garden Street. Strengthen your program and help others by showing up if you can! Hope to see you there.

PS. Parking can be a struggle, especially for non-Cambridge residents, so public transportation is recommended. From Harvard Square T stop walk to the cemetary across from the commons and take a left onto Garden Street. The church is the one with the big Rooster weathervane on top, next to the Sheraton Commander Hotel. We meet upstairs in the Choir Room above the church office.

Agnus checking in

Good Monday morning, PA pals!  Hope everyone had a productive or at least enjoyable weekend.  I finally got the camper washed down but it needs intensive care  - bad staining from the brutal pollen season we've had this year.   My house also needs intensive cleaning - and we leave on a trip Wednesday evening. ACK! :O

God please help me today: Avoid the first moment of procrastination (Step 1), set sane expectations (Step 2), turn the results over to You (Step 3), and apply my time and energy to thoughts and actions that are in everyone's best interests (Steps 4-9).

Agnus 12:53am

I don't know: is it work-bingeing if my job actually depends on my ability to keep crazy hours when the work is there, in exchange for being able to slack when it's not?  It doesn't feel healthy, but it IS the nature of my job.  Sigh.

Anyway I am dodging the impulse to pull an all-nighter.  I'm at a decent stopping point now, my husband misses me, my dog and cat are neglected, I have not had dinner (and it's almost 1am!), and obviously I'm WAY past my 10pm bedtime commitment.

I procrastinated about 15 minutes tonight on a brainless computer game. I started it as a way to keep focused during a phone call (an ADD thing), but then continued after the call ended.  Caught myself, asked God for help, and got back to work. Thank you, HP!

Soup's on, Agnus

Dodge it, dodge it, dodge that impulse!

Get that soup or sandwich.....enjoy it....every morsel of it.

10 pm is long gone. Worry not. Perhaps get up bit earlier.

15 min is gone -- not too bad of a loss, so don't spend 16 min (or more) bothering with it now.

Re-evaluate the to-do and get your rest. Undecided

Ag's prayer

That's an excellent prayer for every day!   I'll be sure and give you credit next time I chat with HP Wink

I said a prayer for you today too - "Easy Does It" on ramping back up this week!

  Show up (done)

Very scary day today. Plus a day to make a Step 9 face to face amend that I had wanted to make for years- I hope I have the courage.Showing up here gives me comfort, and the knowledge that I have not shut down for almost a year, with many disasters, reminds me I can get through this too. Thanks for being here.

(Thank you)

Thanks guys. As it turns out, I took a shortcut, got lost, and by the time I got there, my window of opportunity was gone. I wanted to beat myself up, and then the thought came into my head: Steps 8&9 say:

8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.

9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

I was willing, and it was not planned to get lost, so I can do it if it ever comes up again.

I feel like I wasted the whole day on this , did not get much done.

(vic)

Could be that HP wanted you to be willing, but for reasons unknown to us, did not want you to follow through.

(Jo)

Thanks Jo, think you are right on, I rememeber my fist round of amends years ago, I was going to make an amend to someone who could have put me in jail, and then I found out that person had passed away, but it was my willingness that counted and my step sponsor at that time told me of living amends, of changing my behavior. Yesterday amend probably would not even know what I was talking about.

But the steps do work, I felt like I did something major. Thanks, everyone.

Don't know if I am Vic the brave, but I am Vic "I know this stuff works and it is the only thing that works for me- my only way out, and grateful there is a way out."

Wow Good luck Vic!

Big step.  saying a little prayer for ya.

love for vic the brave

Vic, thank you for your inspiring power of example. I am new to the formal part of making amends. It is wonderful to have you share your experience as you go through it. Sending prayers your way.

Partially completed day yesterday

I completed some of my stuff.  I have a habit of underestimating how long things will get done.  Maybe I can learn to make a shorter, doable list and then I will feel good about getting things done.

re: underestimating

Lennon said "I have a habit of underestimating how long things will get done.  Maybe I can learn to make a shorter, doable list "

Ditto!  I'm still workin' on that myself.   I either way over-estimate or way under-estimate.  Over estimating causes me to freak out and not want to start, under-estimating leads to, well, you know.

Journey 7:30

Quite early to work as my car is in the shop and I have to leave early to pick it up.  I'm feeling very tired and sore as, after three weeks of restriction from exercise, I took my 3.5 year old grandson swimming.   Perhaps I overdid it a bit, as I'm sore *everywhere* even my hands and feet!   But we had a lot of fun and I have missed him so much as I haven't been feeling well enough to hang out with him.  I was planning to go back to the gym this morning for a very short workout but changed my mind when I got out of bed this morning and found that I couldn't move.      Maybe tomorrow!

I didn't check in over the weekend, so I've just caught up on all your weekend posts.  I took it kind of easy over this weekend except for the swimming adventure, and just did the necessary stuff around the house, so I didn't even make a todo list.  But I think I've milked the pneumonia recovery about as long as possible, so this week we'll being ramping up to normal activities.

So, coffee, then todo list.  Back in about 45 minutes.

Journey 8:30 & update

18 hours of stuff on my to-do list.  Going back to do triage and try again.

OK, a more reasonable doable tdl:

  • Planning/email
  • H meeting
  • toastmasters
  • bank for toastmasters - try to postpone?
  • follow up on order for Project Z
  • Planning for POR this weekend
  • Z ed on S. website
  • Remind BP and send examples don't have time for examples!
  • OC duty this weekend - start on Q.  -postponed
  • call hospital and see if I lost my necklace there:D
  • Project G - if time, work on V load - postponed
  • pick up car & dinner
  • Calorie King - time to get back on the diet!
  • Journal/PA
  • budget
  • filing
  • dinner
  • prep for tomorrow - gym?
  • added: Project M - build more test servers, get at least two done today - started on one of them
  • added - redo change requests grrrr

I'll work on the order first.  OK, that's done but took longer than I planned because of some red tape/runaround.    But it's done.   Now to work on POR.

Update 10:45 did the POR stuff but then the BIC (Brilliant Intimidating Co-worker) just gave me a pantload of work that has to be done asap.

Update 11 am, since I'm already off schedule and discombobulated by the BIC, I'll go ahead and make the phone call.

Update 11:12.  I have done nothing.  Making the phone call now!

YES!  someone turned in my necklace.  thank goodness for honest people.   Of course, maybe it helps that it was a cross lol.

Starting on server builds now, I'll work on this until time to go to Toastmasters, at least I can say I got started!

Update 4 pm grrrr what a frustrating day.  I did try to get stuff done, but everything I worked on ended up being an adventure in corporate red tape, the BIC added a pile of stuff to my workload that I barely got started on, and what the heck, I'm leaving.  Tomorrow will be better right? :-(

Well, one good thing - my necklace was found, so I'll consider that a success.  See ya tomorrow!8)

Had a bad day yesterday.

Had a bad day yesterday.  The library was closed, so I was unable to get the research done for my paper.  Also the power went out in my building for four hours, which left me unable to work on the buisness cards during the day.  On the bright side I did finish all the buisness card layouts + 3 logos, however I got no sleep and I have to be at the library at 7:30am. I can sleep when the work is done. :(

5:30:

look over the rest of the design homework + write self reflection paper (one page)

6:45: Commute to school

7:30:  Stop by library and check out books + email those papers

8:00am: Stop by work and let them know that I have to work on a paper, afterwards return to the library to continue research paper

1pm: Class

5pm: return to library again

8:30: return home

9:30:

Depending on how I feel, I may have to spend another night working on homework
