We Can Do It

Listen to the Lady.

Vic 6/17

Show up (done)

Interersting starter, enen then , people undersood the human psyche. S. D. Warren Company, a paper manufacturer, published a catalog of production-incentive posters in 1942, simultaneously supporting the cause and promoting their products. "Efficient workers must be helped to attain even greater efficiency. And these objectives must be gained by methods that are in harmony with the principles of a democratic society; they cannot be gained by commanding them; they must be gained by supplying incentives that will induce voluntary action." The one that spoke to me was: When I give in, the enemy wins.

Really interesting view of procrastination Vic!

Your poster is a really interesting spin on what we are trying to fight here. And it just goes to show that we can utilise every little thing to further our cause for recovery.

Of course, these posters were meant to promote greater production, the war effort and later anti-Communism, but it is true, joint effort, perseverance and a bit of grit can starve off any enemy, even those within ourselves!

Thanks

The reason I had to pick another poster was because although the poster company was progressive for it's time,

There was a "sister" poster that went with Ask the Lady.Another poster in the same series ("Ask Your Supervisor!") makes it clear that women and their fellow workers could take this empowerment only so far.  I did not like that., just my stuff.

Cross Outs

How do you cross out things that you have completed?

Lennon - This is how you cross out

Hi Lennon :)

You can cross out your tasks by highlighting the text you want to cross out, then clicking the ABC button in the grey formatting menu above your text box.

I think it's the 4th button from the left on the top row, next to U (underline).

If you don't see a grey formatting menu or the buttons I'm talking about, I think you need to enable TinyMCE rich text by going to the Edit tab in My Account in the top left of your screen.

Sorry I don't know how to fix your chat problem - but I hope this helps!

Time on internet looking up info from last night's talk ( and feeling angry with myself)

Crazybug CI 8:35am

Did a little surfing this morning but was able to cut it off within a reasonable time.  I think it would have been wiser to have spent that time reviewing my notes on recovering from Procrastination.  Anywho, here are my goals for the day:

  • Work on reading and editing article (25 min) -
  • R&D forms (2x25min)
  • Go over migration progress (25 min)
  • Work on Ls (2x25 min)

Today I will just work on spending time on these tasks and not focus on the outcome. The most concrete task is #2 so I'll start there.

yes we can!

Hi Allegro,

thanks for putting a smile on my face with this thread starter. Haven't seen this type of ad in a while, love it!

Nicole

Allegro Check Out 17/6

Thanks guys - I'm glad you like the thread starter. To be honest having to start the thread makes me quite anxious, especially since I'm new to the forum. You guys better get ready for some lack lustre starters coming up!

Today I had 2 major scary projects to do - so broke them down into a billion little small steps and interspersed them with little rewards (an idea I borrowed from Crazybug - thank u!! :D) and I'm surprised at how much progress I was able to make just by having a plan and having things to look forward to.

I still could have done a bit better (where did my morning go?? :-?) but it feels like it's a good start. Onwards and upwards!

- breakfast
- change halogen light bulb
- unload dishwasher
- get ready for workout
- wash breakfast dishes
- weigh in
- start check in thread
- check in
- workout
- eat
- check in with CK
- clean toilet
- shower
- try to fix flickering halogen lamp
(after cleaning connectors, it still flickers, but not so bad - I'm not going to waste anymore time on it)

> project op 1(to be broken down) (Finished!)

- locate op
- read requirements
- research background
-----> reward: go for a walk to buy lunch/pick up mail
(was too hungry - so had to do this before I started work - took 30 mins! gosh!)

- list criteria
- draft format of letter
-----> reward: msg alv
(took way longer than expected - but at least I organised future soccer team - moving forward)

- draft content of letter
- scrutinise attachments
- send off
- note details

> project draft decs for ag (to be broken down) (still going for tomorrow)

- review files
- read over fin s.d. carefully
- read over soc s.d. form
-----> reward: eat dinner

- read over soc s.d.
- amend soc s.d. where necessary

- draft soc s.d. (can't do it yet because the amended file needs approval from ag before finalising)
- finalise soc s.d (ditto)
- make changes to fin s.d.
- draft email regarding amended s.d's for approval
- attach files
- send

------> reward: grocery shopping (didn't get time to do my reward - that's okay - i'll do it tomorrow when it's more safe)

- cook dinners (didn't need to do it tonight as I bought it, kinda cheating I know)
- wash dishes (ditto)
- check out
- mindfulness (will have to do this as I fall asleep - I know, it's cheating)
- brush teeth/get ready for bed
- sleep early

Go Go Goal_Allegro !

Wow! Look at all those crossed off items. You've inspired me this morning!

Thanks! Crazybug
