huma's April Challenge
Well, March is over and April is here. Let's make some more improvements! Anyone can join me and state a goal here for the month, and then track your progress as April proceeds. Use whatever rating system you want.
Me? I will be grading myself each day on a five-star scale. In March I averaged 2.74 stars per day, missing my goal of 3.0. I really feel that I can do better, so I'm giving myself an April goal of 3.05 stars per day.
* - Totally wasted my day; pathetic lack of effort
** - A small amount done, but procrastinated too much
*** - A satisfactory day; got a few tasks done well, but missed a thing or two
**** - Excellent day, got a lot done, procrastinated very little
***** - Absolutely fantastic day, exceeded my expectations; worked from dawn till bedtime

You CAN do it, Huma!
I have the same problem. I start off the day motivated, but by around 2-3 pm, I lose focus. One thing that helped me was to schedule a large break around this time, so that I have time to recharge and I don't feel guilty of procrastinating. After the planned break, it is slightly easier to get back to work.
By the way, I haven't been posting my April updates for the past two days because I fell sick. I'm better now...and hopefully today I can have a productive day. :)
You can do it, Huma! Forget about yesterday, start fresh! :) Good luck!
huma 4/6 recap
Lousy day. It started when I only slept 5 hours - it was my own fault, websurfing last night. No energy this afternoon, and I pretty much was useless tonight.

huma 4/3 update
Really faltering. I knew what needed to be done, knew what pitfalls I needed to avoided, and still fell into them Saturday. Three bad days in a row, just when I thought I was ready for a great run of success. Makes me so exasperated with myself.
I need to shrug this off, learn from my weaknesses, and try to regroup.

Bummer...
Today, 4th April:
Was gonna go to the library today but i just don't like the place, so i procrastinated and then went to study with a friend near his place but ended up slowing him down too. So, he left and then after an hour i left too. Came home today at 7pm, with very little done.
I read while waiting for the bus and in it, cleared some stuff but overall, uptil now, my day's not been utilized properly.
Ironically, the highest score that I'd achieved in a subject(CT-84 marks) was the one that i'd studied in that library. That was the only time in my college life that i got a distinction in a subject.
I thought of lowering my goal to 2.5* but I'm not gonna give up.
Even as i write this, I'm doing it half-heartedly; like i know that i'm not gonna achieve it.
It's odd, knowing your own feelings and mental state. You can't even trick yourself into doing something....
Don't know if it's better, but for some reason i can't explain, i prefer knowing them; my feelings and what & why I'm thinking...

Vali, On Studying
Hi.
Co-incidentally, I'm studying for exams too. I get the same problem a lot: I start off the day motivated and ready to study...but at the end of the day, I've not accomplished much. Most of the time it's because I'm overwhelmed by the amount of studying required or I just get distracted by the TV etc.
One of the things that worked for me (and it might work for you), is to commit to studying for an extremely small amout of time, for example 6 minutes. It's easy to study for 6 minutes, right? After every 6 minute session, I write a message in the chatbox stating what I did. It's useful, because I get instant motivation and encouragement from the other members. And in just ten of these 6 minute study sessions, I've already studied for an entire hour!
Note: If you decide to try this method, I recommend an online timer to keep track of time. Also, it's important not to get distracted by the chatbox itself (that's one thing I have to constantly tell myself...)
Good luck with your studying!
You can do it, Vali!
There's a lot of time on the weekend!
Quick note: A 5 star Saturday will push up your monthly score to 3 stars (exactly at your April goals!!).
Keep trying vali
I've been in a bit of a rut too, starting the month off. Let's make it a strong weekend. Keep trying!

I'm joining too, Huma!
I love your idea and I decided to join! I'm a little confused about whether we should post our progress in your thread or whether we should put up our own thread. Which way do you prefer it?
I've decided on a slightly different rating system...
Yesterday: April 1st
Total hours awake: 12
Total productive hours (including necessary meals and only well-deserved breaks): 6
Yesterday's score: 6/12 (or 2.5/5 stars) **1/2
Monthly goal: 3.5 stars
Put it here, GetStuffDone
We can all post our stuff in this thread, and track according to whatever system you prefer. :)
