Procrastinators Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from chronic procrastination.
yikes I am really stressin'! Have a big trip this week, that includes a presentation I'm not sure about, a meeting I'm unprepared for (to discuss whether to pull the plug on my project and maybe even my job), then staying with family who are in crisis mode thru Sunday, all while leaving J home alone for the whole week. Plus I'm adjusting to some dr-ordered food changes, which is a huge deal for me in one of my other 12-Step recoveries.
The result of all this stress is...drum roll please...you guessed it....procrastination! Instead of using the weekend to prepare, I've pretty much played and then moved anxiously from one task to another all weekend, completing nothing and not even firing up the 'puter until now. So here I am admitting defeat again, praying Steps 1-3 out loud and asking for help.
First thing that comes to mind is: phone meeting. It starts in 3 minutes. I'm not going to take a chance on whether that suggestion was from God - I'm going to do that next and check back after it with a plan, God willing!
Back and working it...job1 was to prep a report which is almost done. I also need to finish entering data on a spreadhseet, read several reports and possibly comment on them, prep a presentation (or at least find a suitable one to reprise), buy a new rollercase (airline busted the wheel last trip and neither they nor mfg will make it right, grr), pack, and leave for the airport by 3pm.
I can get some of this done tomorrow before leaving, and more en route and at the hotel. One thing I won't get done: My expenses. But I can live with that more than the insanity of an all nighter. I hope my boss doesn't need them for budgets, though. Ack, she might. OK, then I'm going to do my expenses now and THEN go to bed.
I decided to keep a procratination log to see how I am usingmy time.
Have you heard the joke about the three frogs that were sitting on a log and one of them decided to jump into the pond. How many were left?
Three, because all he did was decide. I have been making more decisions and jumping in, but the consistency........
All in all had a good day church, meeting, soccer game, my friend brought and gave 2 computers to my sons and set them up as well as corrected current problems, so why don't I feel happy? It's like I am afraid, and that means sabatoge arond the cor ner.
Now I want to do nothing. But after procratination log, I will.
My CIs are evolving a bit this summer as my schedule is so varied - getting into a rhythm finally though. Today is a good day :-) Doing one of my favorite things - working while dd is playing at an area fun zone type place with a big place to jump and play! Got a design job before we came and getting caught up on the others - circumstances aren't perfect in all areas - but the ones I can do something about are going... I feel like as long as I can keep my joy and peace I will keep making steps and as one of my favorite quotes...
“If you want to be free, just start doing what God wants you to do, one step at a time, and you’ll eventually walk out of your messes."
Over the post couple of weeks I have neglected my routines. I have been productive but not to the point that I can or need to be. Today is a new day and I need to boost my motivation level in order to kick my lazy butt in gear. Know need to reinvent the wheele all the tools that I need to motivate myself are in place I just need to use them. So here goes.
Update Post
Complete am routine
CI for next step
Accomplishment. Last load of wash in (5 loads today), dinner is in progress, worked on decluttering van, update financials.
Not planning on getting too much done, but I do have some work that needs to get done (need to send SM an email by Tues, and need to be ready for a meeting w/ my prof. next week).
So, today I'd like to spend an hour cataloguing relevant datasets. And, tomorrow I'll plan on finishing CLR slide.
Will check back this evening with report on dataset search. Right now, I'm going to work for 20 min on this task, then head to church.

smarter than a frog?
I actually forgot to do this. It was like I blacked out after I decided. I wonder if I do that with other stuff?
I did go to the store.
