Little late getting started with CI however my children and I left early in the am to go and dig sweet potatoes at my grandmothers. Great family time together. My grandmother is 89 years old and I am afraid she will not be here next year, her health is going down hill quickly. It was a good for her to have her children, grandchildren and greatgrand children at her house "The Home Place"  carring out a tradtion that has been a part of her life since she was born. (Digging Sweet Potatoes) We do it every year my kids love it.

Well enough of that time to get a move on. First I am going to work on completing a undone to do. My undone to do's are the things that I work a little on but never put forth a big burst of enegry to complete and accomplish.

So First I will complete de-clutteing my van

Next I will fold and put put put put clothes away, two more loads to wash.

I hate to do this it is so unproductive I just do it over and over and over again it is so much easier to let them pile in the middle of my living room floor. Of course it does cause tension and frustration in the am when we are getting ready for school and work. Nobody can find their clothes so I have to be the one to dig through the pile and find everybody's clothes.  We always leave late and I am never on time for work so today I will approach this task as not putting away clothes but as preparing my family for a great am routine that will help me get to work on time. I like that

Check back in after a while, probablly work in chat to while working on "preparing my family for a great am routine". (I am not putting clothes away)

hope-faith - I added your username to your check-in subject

Please put your username in the subject of your check-ins (rather than the date - all the check-ins are in a day thread). That way people can scan the comments and see who posted what. (I edited this one.) Thanks!

Journey 3:00

Home from the grocery store . . . still have a lot to do in the next three hours.  First, unload and put away groceries.  Then, make the cake.  while cake is baking, straighten and dust dining room and unload and load the dishwasher.

After the dishes are done, I'll start dinner and if I have time during dinner prep I'll straighten and dust the bedroom, otherwise I'll just shut the door.  DH will help out with the living room.

Later!

kromer 8:50 CI (Pacific Time)

I'm in California for the weekend visiting my bf--not planning on getting much work done, but I have an hour now I'd like to use productively. Here's what I'm going to do:
1)Take care of some emails: email LB about meeting, email NM about rotation, email AO with problem set question. (Sent 2 emails, still need to email NM about rotation)
2)Copy over files and start code to assemble scanning results.  (DONE)
3)If time, read paper on esr dataset and take notes on which are appropriate samples to use.(Realized I don't have my notes with me, Think it makes more sense to read a different paper).

Hi Kromer! Have fun! :)

Journey 10:45

Ack, I got up at 8:30 and have been sitting here at the computer for 2 HOURS DOING NOTHING.

Well, not nothing, I did list a couple of new items for sale in Second Life, which does bring in a very small amount of money.  And I really enjoy making and selling virtual stuff in the virtual world.

BUT I have a lot to do today and I need to get on it.  First, get dressed, then get my work computer out of the car and balance my checkbook - my "check register" is on my work computer and I just realized that is not the best place for it.   So I'm going to balance the checkbook and put my check register into my work email, which is secure and can be accessed from my blackberry.   I would have already had this done if I didn't have to face the trek out into the cold to get the laptop out of my car :)

Once I figure out how much money I have to spend on groceries, adjust my grocery list and then get my lazy butt to the food store!   I don't need much as I purchased most everything needed for the rest of the month last weekend, but perishables have to be replenished.

Then I gotta make a cake and straighten the house for company.  DH will probably vacuum so I just need to dust and straighten and wipe down the bathrooms.  The house is not a disaster.  A year ago I could not have made that statement, so another big thank you to this group.

So, here I go to get dressed and get the laptop.  Check back in for a short break after the checkbook is balanced and the grocery list is made.

Jo, it is inspiring to hear

Jo, it is inspiring to hear that your house is better than it was a year ago. That is what I am aiming for and I like knowing that someone else was able to go from disaster area to not a disaster  Smile .

"not a disaster"

Chick,
My house is still far from perfect but it is good enough to have people over for dinner (as long as they don't go upstairs!).    This is a great improvement for me!

Hello

This comment has been moved here.

Today is a good day to...

Gather up the stuff at home needed for carnival this afternoon

Go buy tablecloth and balloons

Go buy tablet and magic markers

Get van at work and load up

Set up table and make recycled material ghosts with the kids

Come home and make fish sticks

Do some housework.

Doesn't sound like much, but I've been dreading this carnival, largely because I can't do it "perfectly".   The kids will make ghosts and neither notice nor care, but I had greater ambitions early on. Smile

The recycled ghosts were a huge hit, which absolutely floored me!  So much for all the pre-carnival anxiety.

e's saturday

today is a big day. most of the family is going to the other side of the state to see #1 son's girlfriend's play. #2 son is going to the Alice Cooper concert, and he is walking on air. The trip out west will allow me to visit with my sister and to bring her some stuff I think she wants.  It will also give my spouse and I some time to visit Amherst. I am not particularly excited about any of it right now, but I think that is because I am tired.

MIT: take stuff to hazardous waste day

MIT: figure out what to wear

MIT: get address for S and J to see if we can visit with them.

make final choices about office supplies to remove box from living room.

learn about #$%& Vista, and why my computer keeps choosing to shut down.

Recycler CI 6:30am EST

Hi Pro Buddies!

Where I am, it's raining this morning, so I will go to the store first. Maybe by the time I am back from the store, it will have stopped raining and I can move some more things to the new condo.

With the rain, I will have to wait until tomorrow to paint, but I can put up removeable painters tape on some new areas while I am waiting for the humidity to go down.

Those can be goals for today lol ;)

This morning: take out trash, start load of clothes to wash, empty dishwasher, buy provisions.

10am. Earlier I took out the trash; I started a load of clothes to wash and put another load in the dryer. I brought provisions. I took the air mattress over to the new condo. I decided to use some substitute shelf supports in the closet, so took those over & they work so far! After taking one last load, I think I now have all my hanging non-seasonal clothes over at the new condo. Yay! :)

Next: pack and ship box to Japan. Sigh, I feel tired and don't really want to do this. What could motivate me? Maybe I can do this and then have lunch somewhere? Maybe I can rest for a few minutes, then pack. Oh, I just realized I need to take my high blood pressure medicine. That's probably why I feel tired, too. OK, let me work on this stuff and maybe I can CI later ;)

3pm. The Post Office refused to ship the box. "It was one inch too big." While I did not take out my feelings on the clerk, I am still very tense. However, I did buy a different box at the post office, repack the items, returned to the post office and shipped it; again without saying mean words to the postal clerk. After that to recover emotionally, went to Panera Bread and had my favorite soup for lunch. Then, went to Walmart and walked through the new holiday item display. Even though there was thankfully nothing I wanted to buy, it relaxed me to look at the pretty colors and designs. (This is a year when I will get to enjoy looking at the things at the store, rather than purchasing them to take home! ;) OK, I'm totally emotionally worn out after that.

Next: I need to rest for a while for emotional reasons and to re-group my thoughts. I need to put some painters tape on the new condo's bedroom & in the kitchen area. Later I will go to social activity in the evening. Anyway, hopefully the worst of today is over. I may edit my CI again later.

8:22pm. End of day CI. This afternoon I did take some more things over to the new condo, and put up the painters tape. I went to my activity tonight, which made me feel better. I feel ok now, and will brush my teeth & go to sleep.

Have a great day! :)
