Procrastinators Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from chronic procrastination.
Earlier today I was on the board. I was going to do my CI, but the board was moving very slowly for me when I was in another section of the forum, and it was time for me to go out to an activity.
Today I did start painting a real wall (not just a room divider ;) in my new condo. Even though I can tell I will need to do a second coat, the color is turning out the way I want it to. (yay! thank you, previous Room Divider Test Paint! ;)
Took some other things to new condo. Bought groceries.
Doing the painting kind of overwhelmed me. I can tell it will go more slowly than I want it to; but I am telling myself that's how Real Life is sometimes. I will just do a little bit at a time and pace myself, and maybe by Thanksgiving the painting will be finished.
it has been a successful day so far, but I still have some basic things I let slip. I am still in pjs, need a shower, ought to start laundry and so forth, but i have done meds, water, made banana bread, dealt with dishes, ate lunch, and have started getting rid of stuff to the right plac.e
I plan to go to the chatbox off an on, but my spouse is using the computer as well, so I will be there sporadically. hugs if I miss you!
Just got back from church, where I found some much-needed encouragement.
Today is mostly fun stuff (though it's stuff that should get done)--talk to RH and work on making curtains :)
But there are a couple not-so-fun tasks to get through, which I'm committing to here:
*call 4 girls to invite them to Harambee...this is scary, I don't like cold-calls. I have microbursted by finding phone numbers and getting out my cell phone. I'm going to write out some notes now, then give myself until 3:30 to work on something less scary, then talk myself through the calls in the chatbox (Called one girl!)
*Spend 15 min thinking about difficult decision I'm facing
*Pick up trash in my front yard
*Go through 3 probability lectures (1 done, 2 to go)
*Read bible
OK, I'm going to write out some notes, then call RH, then chat myself through the phone calls
did cleaning and clearing in two rooms; they're not finished, but I feel so good when I go in there that I want to do more. (reminder to self, what someone here wrote before: action creates motivation... and then more action)
Now I need to do work and sorting in the office, that's harder to start and harder to see results.
PS A graphics question: does any one know why the typing snoopy became static even though readng snoopy still moves? Is there only capacity for one moving graphic?
Yes I am accomplishing alot however I have procrasted for so long that I am so far behind that no matter how much I accomplish it does not make me happy for long because I am still behind. It is a never ending cycle, but hopefully by the end of next week I will see some relief. Thanks for stopping to speak to me. Look like you have accomplished alot yourself.a
Hi H-F,
I have a gigantic backlog too in all areas. SO large that it was paralyzing me and I couldn't do anything, didn't want to get up and so on.
I've gradually started giving myself much more positive messages. I'm not quite sure where the balance is between self-deception and positive self-talk yet. I am still a procrastinator with a huge backlog, but I have gradually started to have more energy and motivation.
I do feel more incontrol having had this forum this weekend. It has helped me focuse, self assess and reflect. Because of the posting and check ins I have more motivation.
Sorry I was negative in the previous post, I am usually very positive. The task that I am working on now is going to take about another 3 hours and I am mad at myself because it should have been done in May. I have other things that need to be done. However, this is priority. I should have been more proactive. Any way I will get through it.
Stay away from that enticing-sounding estate sale going on in town
Sit down and make a to-do list for work

10 items, in varying degrees of complication. I'm going to start keeping a ratio of completion on myself just for grins. (Item #10 may be the stick in the spokes.)
I see that the date is incorrect on the thread starter but that's ok! Good morning everyone.
I successfully stayed away from the personal computer yesterday, until after company left and the kitchen was cleaned up. I should make myself stay away a whole day just for the exercise in self control, but staying off until 8 pm was quite a challenge in itself. The interesting thing was that it didn't make much difference in my productivity for the day, but I did spend more time watching TV! hmmm, trading one screen for another. Watching TV is usually something I do with DH, though, so maybe that's ok.
So far today I have done my day starter and set up DD's new hard drive. We got a hard drive from the Western Digital sale that holds a TERABYTE of data. woot! She's a virtual dj on Second Life so she has loads of music clogging up her hard drive, and me I am just anal about backing up everything twice so it's nice to have all that space.
I'm planning to take it a bit easier today than I did yesterday, and have some time to play on the computer, but I do have some chores to do. Including busting the new PILE that has collected up on my desk. There are some things in there that need to be taken care of too, like a letter from the State TAx people. :) one more tax thing to take care of, I thought it was all done.
So, next thing to do is find some breakfast and bathe the dog. I'm debating on whether or not to turn on the heat, it's like 65 in my house. We've gone the past few weeks without running the heat or air conditioning which is great for my budget, but I'm freezing!
check back by noon - hopefully with the dog baths and bathroom cleaning done.

Capitalization counts in filenames on Unix servers. I made the "W" in "Welcome" capital and the images displayed properly.

To me, they both appear animated.

What's stopping you?

That is why
The chatbox did not open. I was waiting and waiting maybe for 10 minutes or so. Finally after sending the message here the chatbox opened.
It has been many Sundays on meeting time difficult to enter the chatbox, it just tells to wait.

It sounds like you are getting a lot done and the me-time of catching up on the shows might help you keep it up?

More energy and motivation is what I need.
