Rain here yesterday and today, which we have been needing. Yesterday I was kind of distracted. Today I did a little better.
Today: walked, stretched, went to work early, stayed on track a lot of the day, organized volunteer minutes at lunchtime, kept on with some projects, stayed late to finish a hard project, rode train home since the weather was still misty, ate dinner. Tonight: write email to international friend, then go to support group.
Oh, last night I got my 7-year chip in one of my other programs :) In one of my other programs I have over 20 years, but it doesn't give chips, so I am happy to get the one in my Monday night program :)
You can do it! I've related alot to your shares (we both have caregiver roles). Like you, I set pretty high expectations of myself and get easily frustrated...Maybe if you try smaller expectations? Like one teensy little 3-minute microburst on any task when you first get home from work...Those little successes relieve the frustration that so impairs me...Good luck! Ag
Second meeting is done, now back to MIT #1. I'm struggling to stay focused on this today. Lots of negative thoughts, feeling dumb and slow . . .why can't I get this done? Because I'm not really working on it, I'm just looking at it and then freaking out. I'll bet if I can stop the negative thoughts and really work on it for the next hour I can make some progress. I have a 3 pm meeting, I will work for 45 minutes then post my progress before I go to the meeting.
Update 2:50 Yes, once I stopped putting myself down and actually got to work, I made some progress. Off to next meeting.

"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."
Had 8:30am fasting bloodwork (without breakfast, what is the point of getting up??). Then called my accountant, who still complained he didn't have what he needs to file taxes that were due yesterday. It turns out, he DID have it. He just had not looked carefully at my work, which was exactly what he asked for...and I'm paying this guy! Grrr...
I finally got to inhale some food and caffeine at 10:30 but still feel groggy and tempted to procrastinate. So far I have given in only by taking too long to surf and post here...telling on myself quickly, asking God for help to stay on task today - lots to do!
I also committed to my new biz-fi coach that I would set aside 2 hours one night a week for personal bookkeeping, and I had selected Tuesdays. That one did not even make my MITs today so I think I was never really committed. I am thinking about going to bed now and setting the alarm to get up and finish MITs first thing - GG definitely MUST have those links first thing tomorrow - but it feels really icky to carry over something that big...nope, not gonna do it. I can create those links right now...be back in a few minutes to report it done...
MIT #2 is done. Took longer than I thought. Most stuff does. Feel like a damn snail in quicksand. grumble grumble. going to bed! Thank God that One Day at a Time has endings as well as new beginnings.... G'nite my dear PA Pals. Hugs if you want 'em ((U))
Good point! If I want to get off my own back about being human, gotta let others be the same. Even when I'd rather scream! lol - Thanks for the reminder...I enjoy your contributions.
Good morning. So far I've been to the gym, read email, and set my MITs. I have three long meetings today so I don't expect to get much done. *sigh* This may be a long day, but we'll get through it, right?

Finished the Project R rewrite and shipped it about an hour ago.
Last hour has been divided by an urgent item dumped in my lap by Client E (revising an old doc I edited back in July or June, I think), and just bouncing among email boxes to check.
Taking a lunch break now. Then back here to set some new priorities.
The Hero's Code:
Show up. Pay Attention. Speak the Truth. Let Go of the Outcome.
lots of distractions pulled me off focus. A handful of outside events set my agenda. Here it is now nearly the end of the day and I have mixed pure goofing off with reactive behavior rather than setting my agenda.
Beginning now: Work on Project T for 30 minutes.
UPDATE 5:50 PM: OK, worked on Project T for much longer, although with a few digressions.
Checking out for the night. "See" you all in the morning!
The Hero's Code:
Show up. Pay Attention. Speak the Truth. Let Go of the Outcome.
For me the two roughest parts of a challenging project are the begiing, and the home stretch...It helps me to apply the PA Tool of imagining how good it will feel to have "Project R" finally done...hang in there!
Scheduled tasks: Genetics class 9:30-11:30, seminar 11:30-1
MITs:
*Take notes from mtg w/ PF and work out a plan for the week
*30 min cleaning room
*Finish reading P+H paper
*Email PTh
*Email PTz and decide whether to switch classes
Should-dos:
*clean bathroom
*Finish 1st S+H paper
*Finish 2nd S+H paper
*notes from Harambee mtg
*Finish rand tests on Brg1
Would like to do:
*Email RH
*Get Skype
*Email PR and CY
I'm going to start with some MITs: notes from mtg, 30 min cleaning/organizing room, email PTz. Then I'll head to genetics class
A slightly disorganized day...I spent 30 min cleaning my room, then went to genetics and seminar. Then I went out to lunch w/ classmates (not scheduled for the day, but one of my goals for this semester is to get to know my classmates well, so I decided it was worth it). Then I found out there's another seminar at 4:00 that is really interesting to me, so I'm going to go to that. I can still get my MITs done today, but other work will be somewhat limited.
In the next hour, I'm going to email PTz, take notes from mtg w/ PF and work out a plan, and then send some emails in any leftover time. Then I'll go to the seminar, then go home
When I get home, I'll clean the bathroom (not an MIT, but I think it's best to do it while my roommates aren't around). Then I'll have dinner, tackle 10 pages of the P-H paper and check back in.
OK, I'm working today but not sticking with my priorities...rather than reading P-H paper (my MIT), I installed Skype and emailed RH (lowest priority tasks) (I did get the bathroom cleaned, though). So now I'm going to tackle those 10 pages (and do *only* this task), then check back in.

Congratulations on ending the self-beating, Jo!
Sometimes when the lovely Mrs. GS is "beating up on herself" for something, I will joke to her, "Honey, shame on you for beating yourself up!"
It usually helps get her out of that funk--and me, too, when I fall into that.

okay, have now ALMOST done all the scary left-over tasks from yesterday--one to go: I will check in when I've worked on it.
I am trying to absorb the message that it feels better to do something on these than to avoid.

Okay, scary task done. :) It did not take so long. :D :
Much easier to face this stuff when I talk gently to myself and plan a reward. And make myself accountable here.
Good luck and congrats.
Good show for taking care of leftover tasks. When I do that I feel SOOOO good.
