Convalaria at 10.30am Monday

Hi all
Experimenting with a new font.
THE BACKLOG has not been touched for a few days.
Mother's needs are fragmenting my time.
Brother's behaviour is distressing me and bringing back a lot of old stuff.
THE BACKLOG must be gone by Sunday Night.
I have untill 12.45 untill I have to help her again.
So I am going to try something I have seen a few other people do.....
Report every 20 minutes or so...

time to look at MITs and pick one. Not nec. the perfect one. Perhaps just randomly one of the things that has to get done. It's 5:05pm...

Ah, got some email to reply to. It's STILL 5:05pm. Action takes so much less time than deliberation :)

Hey, Journey!

Hey, Journey,

This morning I tried your jump-start technique of doing twenty minutes of work before doing anything else.  As soon as I got up I did 20 minutes of sorting papers before I even made my morning cup of tea.

That was great!  My paper heaps already look more organized, and it definitely solved my usual morning case of "the slows."

Thanks for a terrific idea!

Falcon

Hey Falcon Glad it helped!

I can't take credit for the idea, which actually comes from Hilary Rettig's Little Book on Procrastination - but I'll take credit for posting about it lol!  It does help get past that "never getting started" rut that some of us have a tendency to fall into.

Journey 10:30

Good morning!  I got off to a fairly good start, planned my day and did one chore.  I sat down to check in here and I've been here for an hour.  Time to do that check in and get busy again!

If I spend 30 minutes on bills/budget, I can take a nice hot bubble bath!

Journey 12:15

Bills and budget are almost done!  I need to write 2 checks to drop in the mail on the way to work tomorrow, then I'm jumping in that bubble bath.

kromer 8:20 CI

Have a very nice 4th of July break, now today I actually have to get stuff done.

Today I'm going to go to church and drive back from CC.  My three main tasks for today are:
*Call girls, let them know there's Harambee tomorrow
*Post jobs sheet
*Prep for mtg with advisor
**Finish reading network flow stuff, brainstorm alg. ideas
**Fix bug in clustering method, see how it works, if necessary incorporate match probabilities
**Look at STRING connections, assess whether I think they are useful (do if time)
**Assign coregulators to be activators or repressors (do if time)

I'm going to start off the morning by trying to fix bug in clustering method and getting code running.
I'd like to get the network flow stuff read sometime before I head back from CC, if possible.
Then most of the rest of the work will have to get done late afternoon/evening.

kromer 5:35 CI

Just got back from CC.

I fixed bug in clustering method, but haven't run code or read network flow stuff. So I need to focus this evening!

I'm going to start by calling the older Harambee girls (I've asked a friend to call the younger ones, if she doesn't have time I'll do it later this evening) DONE 6:10 (and called younger girls as well, and left a msg for my friend)
Then I'll take a break and go get a soda. BREAK OVER 6:18
Then I'll unpack, start laundry, post jobs sheet. DONE
Then I'll check back in with a plan on prepping for meeting (my first tasks will be running revised clustering code+looking at results, finishing network flow stuff, and emailing about mtg time).

kromer 7:50 CI

Called girls, unpacked, started laundry, posted jobs sheet, had a healthy dinner.

Realized I had to do house chore, so did more than half of that, will finish later this evening.

I'm getting tired, so I'm going to take a short break (until 8), then prep for my mtg.

I'm going to:
*Run revised clustering code and look at results
*Finish reading network flow stuff
*Email about mtg time
*Assign coregulators to be activators or repressors
*Read over my notes from last week

And that'll be all the mtg prep I have the energy for tonight.
When that's done, I'll finish my chore (take out trash/recycling), fold laundry and try to be in bed by midnight.

Frequent updates as I make progress on my meeting prep.

8:10 Done with break a little late, now I'm going to email my prof (in hopes that it will make me a little panicked about my mtg ;) ). Then I'll do clustering, look at results, and update again.

9:20 Emailed prof, did clustering+fixed another bug, looked at results and they're decent. Now I'm going to clean up the graphics so I can show my prof tomorow. Then I'll read the network flow stuff (I've got about 9 pages of dense material to get through), then take a break to fold my laundry, then check back in.
9:40--got off track and wasted 20 min...now I'm back. 1st step in graphics task in to make motif logos, back when that's done.
10:15--finished cleaning up graphics. I think there's still some issues with the clustering but I'll have to find those tomorrow (maybe the problem is negative similarities?) Now I'm going to read the network flow stuff as planned.

10:35--I'm exhausted, so I'm going to take out trash, shower, and then get up early tomorrow to finish my work.

Recycler CI 8am EST

Hi Pro Buddies!

Thanks for the pretty flower with which to start the day! :)

Next Saturday is when the Landlord is coming to inspect. Today is my last Full Day to prepare, which needs to be used for moving around boxes & things. (I can do a last-minute wipe-down of the place on Saturday morning).

List of projects is coming up next, but first I started the day with a nice bike ride, while the morning is refreshing and cool :) Re-editing my post continues to be an effective strategy, so I'll try that every 15 mintues or so ;)

8:35 Starting on the 3rd floor is very important. I need to use the ladder to replace some burned-out light bulbs, so I moved things so I can get the ladder through. (lol, yeah like I really need to be moving a ladder). Anyway, I'm mostly ready for that ;) Also, ate breakfast. Next, I'll start a load of clothes, before another climb to the 3rd floor ;)

9am started a load of clothes in the washing machine. Sorting through 3rd/4th floor steps. Brought wicker table downstairs. Next: take light bulbs upstairs.

9:19. replaced light bulbs on 4th floor landing & 3rd floor landing. Replaced 1 other bulb, but it didn't light up. <> Moved various items to other floors. Put 1st load of clothes in dryer, & started a second load. Hung up washed cycling clothes to dry. Next: snack, decided what to do next ;)

9:55 In the autumn, one of my local groups is having a small festival. I have bought medium-size cornocopias, since this gift goes with the theme of the festival. Put cornocopias on 3rd/4th floor stairs to keep airing out for the next few months. Changed light bulb on 1st floor landing. Earlier when I was feeling tired, thought about snack. Had snack. Realized I hadn't taken medicine (probably *why* I was feeling tired ;) Took high blood pressure medicine. Still moving various items from place to place/floor to floor. Now: climb up to 3rd floor to decide what to do next! ;)

10:20 Checking these off my list as "done": 3rd/4th floor utility room/landings/stairs. Yay! :)
3rd floor: movied ladder closer to stairs. Clearing off 2nd/3rd floor stairs to make room for ladder. Took 2 holiday table-top trees to 3rd floor. Took chair to lower landing. Took clothes out of dryer, then started other loads to wash/dry. Now: in a few minutes, climb to the 3rd floor & decide what to do next! ;)

11:10am Brought 1st chair rest of way to 1st floor. Carried 2nd chair down to lower landing. Started load of dishes to wash. Took new purses to 3rd floor. Carried ladder from 3rd floor to 2nd floor landing. Have gotten most things off stairs, but need to do a few more for ladder. Still moving boxes & items around lol. Put clothes in dryer, and started a new load of clothes to wash. Now: continue my personalized re-enactment of the Groundhog Day movie with yet another climb to the 3rd floor to decide what to do next! ;)

11:28 Took newly-cleaned-and-dried dish towels upstairs to kitchen. Carried 2nd chair the rest of way to 1st floor. Cleared off remaining items from 2nd floor steps. Carried ladder rest of way down to 2nd floor. Put ladder in position to change 15-foot high light bulb ;) (I will try it reaching it with ladder; if I can't, landlord will have to change next Saturday). Now: take lightbulb upstairs to see how close I can get to the ceiling fixture ;)

12:10 Lightbulb is replaced in 15-foot ceiling :) Bagged up a couple more bags of trash. Took clothes out of clothes dryer. Took sponge bath in sink & changed clothes. Now: take trash bags to dumpster, take box to Goodwill, get lunch somewhere as a reward for getting all this done! :)

1:50pm Took box to Goodwill. Put trash bags in dumpster. Went in 3 stores but didn't buy anything ;) Had Chinese food for lunch. Now: color hair, while another set of clothes is in dryer.

2:39 hair is colored. Thunderstorm is starting, so will have to stay off computer for a while. Talk to you later! :)

Everyone have a great day! :)

Recycler CI 6pm EST

Hi!

Even though the thunderstorm passed by rather quickly, I took a break for a while. Now, to get Back At It, I need to do a little posting with edits :)

This afternoon: cooked & ate dinner, fixed 2 lunches to take to work this week :) Now: brush & floss teeth, put away folded clothes, & make bed with clean sheets.

Have a great night, everyone! :)

I'm feeling a bit lost. Stalled. I'm sitting here, staring at my laptop, but not really finishing my work. I'm not sure how I want to do it - my work, that is. That's the problem. Maybe I should define what I want to end up with so I have a clear idea of how to go about things. Meh. Here goes. I'll put on some music to help me.

Falcon pre-CI for Sunday

Hi all,

Thinking ahead. . . tomorrow's priorities:

  • Groceries
  • Get a handle on financial stuff
  • Practice
  • Short walk & exercise
  • Email M. and C.
  • Lunches for the week
  • Look up lab

Falcon

Falcon CI - not bad

Not doing too bad. . . and my finances are in better shape than I thought.  Not buying a yacht any time soon, but not living beyond my means, either, at least this month!

Still got a few things to do before getting together with people for dinner.

Have a good evening, everyone!

Falcon
