Journey 10:15

Good morning!

So far so good today.  These checkins are really helping.  I realized I DID NOT surf the net at all yesterday.   This may be a first for me - - of course I had to block all the fun sites on my work computer to get to that point lol.

X - gym
X - read AND PROCESS email
X - daily planning
X - check balances and budget *MIT
X - check on class status *
 - Ops Mgr and/or Ops Mgr reading *
 - Go to PM lab *
 - directory maint - 2 outstanding issues *
 - on call duties for next week - submit change request *
 - dues statement *
 - ten minutes on tax thing(s) *
 - mail cookbook to Tommie
 - Cheryl
 - AO
 - shoes
 - laundry
 - polish toenails * ha ha this is an MIT it REALLY needs to get done today . ..
 - GDPS - start thinking about scripts
 - get bananas on the way home

Now for a 10 minute break and then directory maintenance stuff.

Journey

Wishing everyone a successful and enjoyable day.

Journey 11:15

dirmaint done, 10 minute break then find the PM lab and see if I can fix my PM problem.

Journey 11:30

lab is closed, so I'll postpone that task until tomorrow.  Ops Mgr for the next half hour.

Journey 12:30

Had to do some stuff to prepare for the training class - then spent 1/2 an hour reading Zen Habits Blog.  I'll call that my lunch break.  NOW I'm working on Ops Mgr.

journey 2 pm oops off track

Well, I was diligently working on my ops mgr when my coworker asked if he could take the system down for an hour - then I goofed off for half an hour and worked on a really low priority thing for a while.  Getting back to my MITs NOW.  I've been doing well lately but, boy howdy, it doesn't take much of a bump in the road to derail me!  Back to work!

Bumps

You are so right--it is easy to get bumped off our paths!

Sounds like you're recovering well, though!

Congrats,
Karen

journey 5:30

Ended up working with coworkers all afternoon trying to fix the system that was only supposed to be down for an hour :)  But that's ok because I can't work on my MIT until it's fixed.  We have some network issues I think.

I'm doing my 10 minutes on the tax thing before I leave the office, making some photocopies to include with the letter I have written.  One MIT is left undone and will be postponed til tomorrow.

I'm not as happy with my productivity today as I have been for the past few days, because I let a bump in the road get me off track for over an hour.  But, not horrible and certainly an improvement over where I was six months ago.  So, live and learn.

I need to remember to stop on the way home for bananas!  I ate my last banana today . . .

kromer 8:00 CI

I like the graphic too!

I'm a bit late starting work, but not too bad.
I'm going to:
*process results from calculations (DONE)
*Review chpt. 5 of econ. (DONE)
*Come up with 5 questions for CB, gather app materials
*Cash check (DONE)
*Go to lab, look at results from calcs (Done enough...)
*Go to Spanish and biochem 10 pm
*Meet with CB 12 pm (DONE)
*Read paper on test set (Postponed)
*Meet with PF 1pm (Done, went well!)
*Finish paper for bio class, start summary
*Lab mtg 2pm
*Be at train station 3:15 to pick up phone

kromer 1:30 CI (update 3:45)

OK, had a fairly productive day so far...

Next, need to:
*Take notes from mtg w/ PF
*Email about travel plans
*Go get bio book from library

*Go to lab mtg
*Leave for train station at 2:45, check email before I go

UPDATE 3:45: Done all except note-taking

Up next:
*Do data anal. + post online
*Get lab notebooks to take home
*Take notes from mtg
*Read chpt. 6 of econ. + do practice test
*Remember to get cell phone! (it's charging now)
*Go swimming if time
*Get dinner
*Econ. exam 7:30-9

kromer 4 hit a bump

OK, I'm having a lot of trouble focusing--I've just been websurfing for the last 15 minutes. I always dread data analysis for some reason (even though it's not hard, just a bit dull)

I left my ipod and time at home by mistake, and those are usually what I use to help focus.
I'm going to use a couple other techniques to help me focus, accept that I may have to take more breaks than normal, and put a note on my door tonight to remind me to get ipod + timer tomorrow!

I'm going to open Excel and find my data now.

UPDATE 4:40 Making progress on data analysis, now I need to go to lab and finish up (need a computer with a newer version of Excel) Check back when done.
UPDATE 5:20 Finished data analysis and got lab nb, now writing up notes from lab mtg.

kromer 10:10 CI

OK, wrote up notes from lab mtg, had dinner, finished studying for econ exam and took exam, came home, had a snack/break (that went a bit too long).

Up next:
*Check assignments for 2 days I'm missing (DONE)
*Buy plane tickets to go home for grad school visit and Easter (DONE)
*Outline materials and methods section
*Finish reading paper

Way to Go and Focus Again

Sounds like you recovered well, too.

Congrats,
Karen

e's wednesday c/i

edge, what a pretty graphic! It cheers me up!

I am lying in bed today feeling yucky, but really I think I am just depressed. I have not bothered to get up yet, and I have the day ahead of me. Since the first thing I need is an attitude shift, I am going to open the windows, drink my water, and write a gratitude list.

today: i am grateful for:
my colleague who was upset with me thanking me for posting online, explaining why he had been upset, and how he wanted to make sure I understood that he was not upset with me, but with backlash that came from other colleagues because of my actions. Note to self: when I was through with this conversation from him my food addiction went into full blown cravings for sweets! What is that all about?

I am grateful that my family ran with the ball yesterday when I could not and got the house in somewhat better shape.

I am grateful for: my sister, who wrote me a fabulously supportive letter

I am grateful for: some good friendships I am developing.

I am grateful for: this fellowship: the first thing I thought of that I wanted to do was to check in here today and read your posts.

for now: get up out of bed, assess what should be done first. Work in 15 minute shifts to get things accomplished.

update: 10 AM: have gotten out of bed. The lemon tree looks happy still, and has green stalks and little leaves coming to life all over it. Considering it was meant for the trash last week, I am very happy about that. The window is now open and I have got up and gotten some water and turned on CNN. There is lots of ironed laundry that I have begun to put away: plan of attack: deal with the worst thing in each room until I can clean.

musts: bathroom tub, floor, swish and wipe
kitchen dishes, floor, counters, cook dinner
verandas: sweep
dust mop and dust
straighten otherwise. I am curious to see how long this really will take me

Update: 11:30
well, it is taking me longer than I think it would if I got into the shower, got dressed to my shoes and went at it, but I am having a case of the don't wannas. I am going to give myself until noon to wallow and then I am going to get in the shower!

update: 11:32 pm
well, there are two 6' 5'' children sleeping in my living room, on wrinkled sheets. Frankly, that is the least of their worries: I think they are sleeping with their feet off the beds!

The day turned out to be fairly productive: the house is vacuumed, dusted, bathrooms washed, the kitchen floor is washed, and all dishes are done. We made dinner, I got to my doctor's appointment, and all things considered it was a good day. Tomorrow I am back at work, and I just found out I have to make bag lunches for the enormous children, but I am going to plan what I am making now and then make it up in the morning.

I am still feeling like I am stuck in codependancy, so will go and find some al-anon stuff online to help me cope with that.

It will be a three day weekend here, and I would like to go away, but we will be going away in late April, so it feels a bit too .... extravagant. However, I hate to see the weekend go wasted.

For now, good night!

thanks for the hug, Edge

thankfully, I do feel much better. I would love a weekend of sleep, though!

That makes two of us :)

But until we can get that, an extra hour of sleep each night can do much to rejuvinate thee, m'dear :) I've been falling asleep at my work desk these past few days because I've been so tired, but I went to bed a bit early last night and found myself wide awake at 6am today
