/files/images/worm.gif   Dressed to my shoes and raring to go!

Falcon CI Tuesday eve.

Hi all,

I had a long day in a tiresome meeting and got back late.  There isn't anything that I have to get done this evening (though plenty of things I can do if I choose.)  Mostly I'm just checking in to keep myself mindful.  It's o.k. if I decide to just surf the web for a while, but I want to be sure I DECIDE to surf the web for a while, rather than doing it mindlessly (and finding myself staying up later than I meant to.)

Only things I'd like to be sure to do before going to bed are making a sandwich for tomorrow and making sure I have clothes, etc. laid out.

Falcon

Cool result

That was kind of cool!  I did do a little web surfing.  But I also made my sandwich, filled & ran the dishwasher, took out the trash, and walked to the bank to get cash (so I don't have to do it tomorrow) and stamps (so I can pay bills later.)  Not because I had to, but because I actually felt like it.  Getting my choices up to a conscious level (rather than mindlessly drifting off) seemed to make all the difference.

Off to bed.  Good night!

Lark at 5:46pm

Late check in for me, but it was a productive day here. Something I was planning do in a week or so got done by a strange bit of luck. Now it's snowing like mad here, and I was planning to go to a 12 step meeting and shop  this evening. It'll give me a reason to finish something that needs to be done here.
To do:
 feed neighbor's dog
 cat box
 present work project here
 check in later

I've got a timer going to

I've got a timer going to stop me after twenty minutes on the web. After that I am doing these things:

go to the gym
have lunch
take a nap (yes, I can procrastinate napping)
study Aristotle till the piano students get here

That's the plan.

Change of plans. My wife

Change of plans. My wife just reminded me that the piano tuner is coming at noon. Darn. Guess I'll go on Thursday.

So what now? I'll take a shower, have some lunch, and study until the tuner is done. Then have my much-needed nap.

I don't have an impending deadline today, so I'm inclined to not work hard...then tomorrow or Thursday night, I will stay up all night to catch up for what I didn't do during the day today and Wednesday. This sounds healthy doesn't it? I have to keep reminding myself...it doesn't have to be this way. I do not need to continue indulging myself one hour and abusing myself the next. I will push myself today and tomorrow and reward myself as I make progress.

taxes: complete income numbers
invoice A
call about a check from L

Looking at these tasks makes me think I need a nap right about now...or maybe I need to read the news to make sure the sky isn't falling...or not.

Hi Everyone.

There is NOTHING In the way of my doing my 4 hours of committed dissertation work.  I am even already on the clock . . . but I spent 1.5 hours cleaning out my email . . .

So the only thing in my way is me.

Need to HALT and change directions.

Committing at 20 minute websurfing break.  Will check back in.

Bless you all.

Okay, "back" from my break.  Now it really is time to start working.

Action steps:
read through books that have to go to library
read through books for ch. 3
tidy up related papers on desk

New Day

I have not been doing well--physically or mentally!

Now I'm on antibiotics and have had my anxiety disorder medicine changed.

So through the fog of dizzyness, these are my plans:

Homeschool grandkids this morning.
(MIT!!!!!) Do one more section of Amer. Lit.
(MIT) Determine M's & M's responsibility on Home Depot bill.
(MIT) Change payment account on Wells Fargo!

Peace,
Karen

Karen

You are in my thoughts and prayers today. I believe in YOU! Rest today then hand procrastination it's butt tomorrow!

douglas

Thanks

Thanks for the encouragement, Douglas.

I accomplished some of what I planned on doing, but no studying.  Considering how dizzy I've been on top of a sinus infection I guess I did ok.

I'm lacking motivation, though, and falling into the "what will it matter" mood.

Peace,
Karen

I'm in training today and tomorrow so you may not hear from me much but I'll be thinking of you!

pro's CI - 8:05am

Good morning. I got up at 7am, which is good, but I'm on the edge of wasting my time this morning and being late anyway. Time to get moving...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Procrastination is the grave in which opportunity is buried.
kromer 7:10 CI
OK, fell asleep last night before I'd finish all my work. Wasn't procrastination, I was just really tired. Still, I really need to push now.
Up next:
Spanish composition (finish by 8 ) DONE (8:25, late!)
Spanish diary (finish by 8:30) DONE (8:35, that was fast!)
Data anal. (finish by 9:00) DONE 8:30
Paper summary (finish by 9:30)
Walk to class DONE
Spanish 10-11 DONE
Meet w/ lab tech 11-12 DONE
Work on senior thesis proj. 12-2
Class 2-4
Set cells 4-6:30
Review sessions 6:30-7:30
Go home, have dinner
kromer 12:30 CI
Took a 30 min. break, which wasn't the greatest idea...
In the next 30 minutes, I will:
finish paper summary (DONE)
Write emails about work and tutoring (DONE)
Then, I will go to mtg w/ C about senior proj. at 1 (DONE)
Then, I will look at results from new calculation 1:20-2.
I'll go to class and then start straight in on setting cells, no dawdling!
I can get through the next two weeks, really I can...
kromer 8 CI
OK, started to look at results from calc., went to class, set cells.
Then I got really tired, skipped review session, had dinner and now have been goofing off for a good 50 minutes. Boo to me!
Luckily tutoring got cancelled tomorrow, so I have a little extra time.
I will:
*Get a soda so I can stay awake
->Done
*Finish looking at results from old calculation (20 min)
->Mostly done, though I want to make the result pretty to s
*Start new calculation (10 min)
->Done
*Spend 15 min thinking about how to minimize number of coregulators.
->
*WRITE WRITE WRITE: 1 pg of intro, 1 more pg of methods
->
*Spend 1 hr studying Spanish
->
*Go home
->
kromer 10--having a really hard time!
I'm exhausted, but I have all this work to get through.
Flipping through web sites isn't going to get my work done!
I'm going to
1) Give myself permission to not get through everything/to do a crappy job on some things. Sleep is more important than work at some point
2) Force myself to just #$#! write for 50 minutes, then I can catch the bus home and get some sleep.
3) Just glance over Spanish quickly in the morning
kromer
Hang in there, Kromer, you have a lot on your plate and you are doing your best. It has taken me years to accept that I cannot always do things perfectly, but that doing them as well as I can for the time available is sometimes a choice that needs to be made. It still makes me crazy, but getting the work done feels better than not.
Sleep well!
