The day before Valentines Day...

doing better today
I'm very happy with going through my mail piles last night. Got three piles down to three TODO piles: bills to pay, info to file, and magazines to read. My 'to read' pile is getting out of hand :-(
I love to read but trying to keep other things together gets in the way.
At work today:
paid bills
billed customers
prepared deposit and posted payments
reported payroll info to HR company
Had to take my car back to repair shop 'cause it was making a noise - sigh.
Called Amazon about a CD I received from a total stranger
Tonight:
laundry
pay bills
file
prepare for builders show this weekend
spend time with hubby
that's all I've got...

No matter where I go, there I am
Indiezee 12:02 PM MT
My list will pretty much be the same as yesterday since a lot of it I didn't follow through on.
~ Call and book a Valentine's massage for my bf
~ Call my boss and let her know I'll be out of town next week
~ Tidy my room
~ Finish off my laundry
~ Buy a timer
~ Do homework
~ Nap at 9 PM
And that's all that I can really think of. I had "Call dad about brother's gift to be picked up" but while I was making the list I thought I should do that one right away. Sure enough my dad can pick it up so that's off my list before it even got on.
4 out of 7
I'm getting a little bit better at this. I managed to tell my boss I'll be out of town next week and she didn't have any problems with it. I also tidied up my room and actually did some homework. I didn't buy the timer because the stores were closed after my shift at work and then I could book a massage for my bf because the massage clinic wasn't answering their phone. Bizarre. The laundry thing I procrastinated on because somebody had a load in the washer and I didn't want to mess with someone else's laundry. Now, I'm about to take a nap, one hour behind but any nap is better than none :D YAY!

isn't it great when things you never thought you would do actually gain a little momentum?

I haven't been on here lately -- to my detriment. Feels good to be back. Well, "good" is maybe not the most correct description: feels like I need to be here. :)
Got caught up in helping a friend in crisis get to an al-Anon meeting, find one in her area on -line, etc.
Now, I know that I need to look at what I need to do today.
To do:
meditate
start my 6 hours of school work that I committed before I spent 1.5 hours of it on the phone doing service -- but not doing my work.
Thank you all for being here. It helps.
Best,
N
Welcome back, Nan
We missed you!
Confusion CI
I'm confused again as to how to proceed with my day.
The grandkids and I went to the Geology Museum at Clemson today for school. So that's done, but it's always easy to do the homeschooling part of my day.
Now it's time for me to do for me and my Higher Power.
I'd like to go to Athens to church, but that involved driving, which costs money and I've been trying to cut back on spending money since our finances are tight.
BUT I didn't get to go to church Sunday and maybe one time a week is a good thing to give myself.
And yet we need to get some milk. Since I insist on buying Happy Cow milk because it's so much healthier than store-bought milk, I need to drive to get it. So I could combine the trips and go to church in Greenville instead of Athens.
This how I get myself into procrastination/tv addiction. My mind travels in circles until I give up.
Writing this has seemed to help. Thanks for listening to this dripple from my addictive/procrastinating mind!
I think I'll opt for the Greenville/Happy Cow trip, even though it means I'll miss my favorite priest's sermon and class on Lent! BooHoo! I can't have everything I want.
Church
One hour of Amer. Lit. study
One hour of work on Gandhi Unit Study

indecision
I can spend hours wallowing in that pit of indecision. That's one reason I like posting my todo list on here, because it's something of a sanity check.

Re: Indecision
I do that too. That's why it helps me if my list is small. Also, I get into this cycle of, if I do A, then I am not doing B; if I do B, then I am not doing C, and so on. This effectively paralyzes me ...
Good to Not Be Alone
Thanks for the support. I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets caught in a circle of indecision!
I did go to the creamery, church, and took time to study at Panera Bread and Starbucks while I was in Greenville.
I also FINALLY did the basic business files for 2008 that I needed to do.
Peace,
Karen
Woo Hoo!
Great going on the business files!

Yet another interview/travel day, I'm getting really tired of these.
To get done in the cracks:
*Re-run all WM jobs that had failed MIT
*Test automated visualization MIT
*Visualize 2 results MIT
*Start new flow algorithm calculation MIT
*Visualize canonical pathway
*Pack MIT
*Read Spanish text and do diary entry MIT
*Print info on profs
*Deal with email
*coffee with friend
*Spanish workbook stuff
Conference programs go 7:30-4:30 with a few breaks. Before 7:30, I'll try to re-run WM jobs, test automated visualization, and, if possible, pack.
7:10 WM jobs have started running
kromer 10:15 CI
OK, I made it through the end of the conference program, re-ran WM jobs, packed, had coffee with my friend, printed out info on profs. Next up, I'm going to go take a shower, then finish testing automated visualization, visualize 2 results, and start new calculation. If I have time, after that I'll do my Spanish.
Lark @ 9:39 (and 2:00 am)
Hi everyone. Things didn't work out well yesterday. I made progress, but not enough to cross much off. Something I ordered for a client was wrong, so I have to make a 20 round trip again, and it was only a simple project in the first place. Argh. Then I did a favor for someone yesterday which turned from a few minutes' task to over three hours. I wonder if I could somehow get an advance on this good karma?
Today:
Xmorning routine
Xspiritual time
Xerrand for yesterday's project (maybe hit noon meeting)
Xfinish that project
Xget next project ready for tomorrow
finish kitchen
finish bathroom
Xcollect from client
check in after lunch
Journey 915
Running a bit late today, was stuck in traffic for a bit.
Thanks Eliaveth for the reminder. I meant to get a card yesterday while I was at the store but forgot!

journey 1:30
One of my short meetings turned into a 2 hour planning meeting . . .and I had to cancel my lunch date :(
I've been reasonably productive so far today though. This afternoon, I will
- security product? maybe - ask S.
- big project is moving again, so work on install for a bit *
- on call duties
start weekend planning doc *
list everything needed for this weekend *
- include downloads and fixes
- Look at used high chair on the way home *
- unload dw
- fold a load of laundry *
X - check IBM trouble ticket
- dinner?
I'm going to work on the s/w install and get as far as I can without asking S. for help - then I'll check with her about security and see what we need to do next. After that, planning for weekend changes, then outta here! I need to leave early so I can stop by and look at that high chair.

kaoba CI
Another immobile day today. I am feeling very stuck. Working from home has its advantages, but the lack of structure is difficult for me. OK, so then:
( ) make a plan for the morning
kaoba am plan (update 2)
(X) make a plan for the morning
The highlights of the am plan are:
(X) prepare budget report and send to J
I have been avoiding this for at least a week. Yikes. It took all of 45 minutes.
(X) walk
Did a slow 30 min walk down and then up the hilly street.
( ) get everything ready for errands in the afternoon
These are not happening, I left them for tomorrow.
working from home
I worked from home for many years, and it was always a struggle. I now have a regular job. It's a lot easier in many ways (except for the horrible boss that I have).

Re: working from home
Hi pro,
I have worked in both settings, and I far prefer home ... but it is challenging. I have to be very firm with myself as to setting structure. I do *always* get dressed as if I was going to go out. Working in pjs is not a good idea :-)

e's instant boss timed check in
I am trying to be more structured about my time here: it is such a temptation to do it all at once!
For today:
worker: finish AICU transfer of files getting there, ABSTRACT MIT not even thought about, discuss photography preliminary discussion complete, work order to fix shelves submitted, photocopy papers-drat I forgot to bring them, order photo storage supplies I am struggling with this....
mom: go through C's backpack, get A to start scholarship research
Spouse: decide on something nice for vday for G
daugher, sister, friend, aunt choose ecard for friend
Instant boss!
Back from working:
self care: hygeine, manicure, buy razor,
homemaker: plan dinner, cook, dust mop!!!, dust, water plants, hotspot the dining room
Okay, I think I made the title of the page confusing, as no one else has posted here yet. Pro, if you see this, please fix the thread starter, lol.
The day has so far been successful from an Instant Boss standbpoint. I have completed genuinely more than two solid hours of work. Considering that I have been here for 5 hours so far, that is pretty sucky. But considering the fact that I was not procrastinating during the other times, instead doing busy work, I feel more accomplished.
e's late night c/o
It was a good day until late in the afternoon when I started feeling yucky. I was able to eft the pain and nausea away, but it kept recurring with a sinus headache and a sore throat. I came home and gave in to burying myself under the comforter. It was bitterly cold for here (thinking about it, it wasn't even freezing, but there was snow on the mountains and it was raining). My blood has definately thinned out since living in Boston!
In anycase, other than blasting the heat and drinking coffee, it was a productive day. I was consistently working, although not as neatly/completely as I would like myself to do. I find that I struggle with finishing projects, instead starting multiple ones simultaneously.
Tonight I am grateful for:
making chili last night so that my son was able to make a quick dinner
having a long phone call with a friend who is in need
being able to get my needs met by telling people that I need to go when I need to go
having clean ironed clothes to wear
instant boss and flylady, microsoft outlook and other organizational tools I am getting into the habit of using
the big book
being finally willing to start 4th step work
good night!
Feel Better Soon
I hope you feel better soon, Elizaveth.
Peace,
Karen
Thanks, Karen
I had my doubts all night, but woke up this morning feeling great! I gave my alarm clock to my son, who has it so loud that it will wake me up, but I woke to the sound of the birds this morning.
