Top Ten Goals

This advice came from a book by Brian Tracy called GOALS!   I recently started doing this again on a daily basis.

Every day, write down your top ten goals.   Don't refer back to your last list, but start from scratch every day.   Try to frame them in a positive manner i.e. (Be fit and healthy, rather than Stop eating too much) Don't worry if they change from day to day.  Don't worry if they seem too big.  Just write them down.  Every day.

Here are mine for today.  Share yours if you wish.

1.  Become debt free.
2.  Be productive, organized, efficient, calm and peaceful - feel that I'm doing the right things at the right time.
3.  Be fit and healthy
4.  Encourage my daughter to be happy and healthy
5.  Be on top of all financial and legal stuff
6.  Have a clean, well-organized, well-maintained, comfortable, loving home.
7.  Become a top performer at work.
8.  Become a better public speaker
9.  Learn all I can about x (work goal)
10.Enjoy a creative hobby.

I think I want to write

I sometimes get so tired of working with my hands, and while there's a certain amount of creativity, it's sometimes not enough. I loved "communicating" back in college, but substance abuse took hold of my soul for twenty years. After ten years of recovery I think I have something to say again. Well, let me take that back: I always had something to say, but most wasn't worth the air it took to float the words. Perhaps working with my hands will be far more tolerable... Thanks for this idea.

wasn't worth the air it took to float the words

Truly, you have a wonderful sense of language. I hope you write.

float the words? I second the motion

Writing is fun. You have a knack.

 (I flirt with it too.)

kaoba's top ten on saturday

Journey, thanks for posting this! I find it an appealing excercise to do. I'm assuming these are general life goals, not goals for the day. So, here goes:

. make my home warm and welcoming and beautiful
. learn to knit socks, become a master knitter
. finish graduate degree
. learn to cook, lose my fear of cooking
. do long-distance walking both where I live and abroad
. learn to manage procrastination
. eliminate debt
. be able to enjoy leisure time instead of worrying about all that's not done
. reconnect with friends and family
. worry less

"learn to cook"

Kaoba, I love your goals for today. I also have a suggestion, check out allrecipes.com, they send out a daily dish and the recipes range from the very easy to the complex. What is nice about it is that other cooks will try and review the recipes. I am using them as a way to have a wider variety of recipes - especially vegetables, which I learned only to steam. If you would like, we can set up an off topic thread for cooking.

cooking

Hi elisaveth:

That might be a cool idea! Let me check out that site and find a vegetable recipe that doesn't look too intimidating, and then I'll commit to making it some time next week.
