I took all the papers scattered on my desk and dumped them into a milk crate. Believe it or not, that's an improvement. I also found my renewal lease in the mess - that's important. I'll deal with it in the morning - I have a headache.
Good night, all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Procrastination is the grave in which opportunity is buried.
I feel completely frustrated with today. I had to do what I did, but I'm so frustrated that I still have this pile here.
I took a shower and cut my hair (and then took another shower to get the hair off me). I needed a haircut. I don't even know what to do now. It's getting late, I was up most of last night, and I have to go to work in the morning. Ugh. Maybe I'll brush my teeth now, and set my alarm for early.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Procrastination is the grave in which opportunity is buried.
Today did not go as planned at all. I never got dressed (I'm about to now). My brother sidetracked me with a family matter that I had to deal with, and nothing else got done today except for the cleaning I did before dawn. After I take a bath maybe I can work on the mess on the table (can't even call it a "pile" anymore).
I never even took a nap and I was up half the night!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Procrastination is the grave in which opportunity is buried.
I was prescribed antibiotics on Friday, and I just realized I've been taking half as much as prescribed. I thought I was supposed to take one pill twice a day. Actually, that was two pills twice a day. Oops. No wonder I'm only marginally better.
I'm tired, annoyed I didn't sleep because I'm less able to do what I need to do today. I've got to deal with the pile, which has now expanded to cover the whole table. Maybe I'll take a nap.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Procrastination is the grave in which opportunity is buried.
This is one of those days. There is so much that needs to be done around the house, and I need to go to the store again, and I'm tired from working yesterday. I could easily make a humongous list of things to do and then get overwhelmed and end up doing nada. So, I'm going to try to make a reasonable list of things to do with plenty of time built in for resting and recharging. OK, here goes!
TO DO: - The dreaded horrible financial paperwork - spend 15 minutes working on finishing up SL <== FROG - Straighten bathrooms and wipe off the counters - 30 min - Straighten, dust and vacuum bedroom - 1 hour - Clean off dining room table, assorted junk has piled up there over the last couple weeks - 30 min - Finish sorting laundry and wash, dry and fold one load - be sure Em has jeans for next week - 2 hr - Quick trip to the grocery store - 2 hr - Quick and easy dinner - maybe throw some bubba burgers on the grill - 1 hr - dishes - 30 min - don't think about the stuff that isn't doable today - it's a waste of time and energy.
(Those of you not lucky enough to live in the american south probably don't know what bubba burgers are lol - they are frozen pre-seasoned hamburgers, you just throw 'em on the grill still frozen and they're ready in 10 min.)
major change of plans - problems at work, so will be working (from home) this afternoon. I got so freaked out by the change of plans that it took me an hour to regroup.
no prob, though, I already emailed my boss that I need a day off tomorrow since I'm on call starting Tuesday. He hasn't responded yet but I'm sure he'll say ok. So today's stuff will just get moved to tomorrow. this is ok. (she tells herself).
Does anybody else freak out when their schedule gets unexpectedly changed?
My day got derailed by an unexpected change in plans, too. A family matter came up that needed immediate attention so I had to forget about everything else I was planning to do. I hate when that happens.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Procrastination is the grave in which opportunity is buried.
Meh, it happens so often these days that I'm starting to learn to deal with it, but it does bother me a lot, especially if it involves unexpected socializing. I'd much rather work from home than suddenly find out that people are coming over unexpectedly or that I have to be somewhere :-( It's just such a bother, it takes me a while to come to terms with it (i.e. when I'm done doing it or said unexpected guests have left).
Flexibilty is necessary, though. I used to really get worked up over minor changes, but in the end it started taking a toll on my health - letting the smallest of things get to me was quickly giving me a nasty ulcer, which is insane at my age. So I'm trying real hard to teach myself to just go with the flow.
It's amazing how much you can relax if you just left go :-) I still have a long way to go, of course, but when I compare myself to how uptight I used to be, I can see the difference. It just takes time to grow out of old habits, but it also takes conscious effort to let go.
oh, my, yes, indeed. Unexpected company, especially if my house is a mess, which it usually is, is the worst - although it usually turns out ok. People really don't care if your house is messy as long as its reasonably sanitary, lol.
Lol, a messy house isn't a problem; it's a situation that can easily be remedied :-) It's just the concept of people coming over when I'm not mentally/emotionally prepared for it that ticks me off - it's as if they're ruining my entire day by suddenly intruding upon my personal space or "me" time. The funny thing is, when they do finally arrive and we're talking, I actually have lots of fun :rolleyes: My parents say I have issues :-p
I woke up at 3:30am this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. I've been cleaning things around my apartment, and now I'm not sure what to do. I've been up half the night and I'm tired. :-?
I've finished cleaning everything in my bedsitting room and had a bath and washed my hair. Now I just need to bring a few things back in from the kitchen. This has been hard physical work for me and I'm not used to it and the place is clean and I feel grateful. There is a lot of making good to do before I, or someone else, can paint.
I am feeling a lot of dread this morning. I had excellent progress this week, but I am finding I am having difficulty with 'finishing'. I read an excellent book on organizing for the ADD person and put it immediately into action - without taking into account the priorities that I must finish. I justified it to myself by seeing that that organizing will make it easier for me to follow my priorities, but it also lost me a day. Today I am full of self doubt and am thankful for being able to reach out to this website.
Wow - I could have written this message. The posts from people here amaze me - I thought I was all alone in this. You would not believe how much time I've spent reading books on getting organized rather than doing what I should be doing. Not that it was a waste - it wasn't. But there's an irony.
Oh, yes, me too. I do a lot of procrastinating by twiddling my systems or trying out new systems. I'm always convinced that some new system will fix me, lol, although I really know better. We already know what we need to do, the problem is DOING it.
