O.k., I have a little extra time this afternoon unexpectedly, which I could easily fritter away. (Mmm, fritters. . . ) But instead I intend to do a (10 + 2) * 5 hack for the next hour, and get a jump-start on some chores for tomorrow.
I'm showered and dressed now. I have a lot to do around the apartment, but I haven't been out yet today and I have cabin fever. I also need to go grocery shopping, so maybe now is a good time for that.

I have a bunch of very tedious stuff to do this weekend. I got up early, but have been getting a slow start. I'm doing a few things around my apartment, and now I need to get into the shower and get dressed.
Laundry has to happen this weekend.
Pile has to happen this weekend - I've been putting this off for months.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Procrastination is the grave in which opportunity is buried.
I'm going to a family bat mitzvah very soon, and I have an Aliyah. I've never done that before. I don't know Hebrew, and I don't know the prayers. If I'm not to make an ass of myself and embarrass my family, I need to start studying and soon. A friend of mine told me not to worry since so many people screw up Aliyahs, but don't want to screw it up.
Just wondering if your "pile" is a pile of papers, etc. that need sorting. If it is, I'll be happy to swap you my pile for yours! ;-)
I usually find it easiest to tackle paper heaps in short doses (like, 20 minutes at a time, at most) otherwise I just get overwhelmed. I also find it's a good task to do in a (10 + 2) x 5 hack (www.43folders.com/2005/10/11/procrastination-hack-1025) Your mileage may vary, of course.
Oh yes, it's most certainly a pile of papers. You're right to do it in short doses. My tactic (which I know very well is wrong) is to wait until I have a block of time, which of course I never do. I've even written articles for this Web site about what a trap this is, but I still do it.
