Special Projects and Master Lists

This forum is for checking in on the progress of large, multi-day projects like a thesis or catching up on tax returns. It's also a good place for master to-do lists, gratitute lists, New Year's resolutions, and other non-daily items.

Master List - no more excuses

First I thank my God that I found this website! Thanks also to Pro for starting it.

Retaking my exam in 4 months.... the one that I failed last time because of procrastination

Hi everyone,

So I'm going to keep a daily update of what I want to do and what I'm actually doing everyday. The last time I gave this exam I failed. It's a really important exam and already I may not get interviews in quite a few places because of my one failure. It's a career making/breaking exam.

This time I want to ace it. I know I can do if I work for it. The problem is working for it.. So here I am.

Need to succeed.

Salamander's Overdue Tax Returns

I'm not even 100% sure how many years I am behind with my tax returns! There have been a couple of new computers along the way and I don't know what data I can still retrieve to find out where I even need to begin. I know I don't expect to have to pay any taxes as a result of doing this work, but still, I have to brave the emails in the "Accountant" inbox and find out where it all needs to start from...

Handed in thesis - goodbye to PA

Hi everybody,

I haven't used this site that much but I just wanted to tell everybody who knows me from the chat that I handed in my master's thesis and that I'm abroad now as it was planned.

I'm not proud of my thesis and often blush of shame when I think of it and that my professor and second reviewer will read it... but now I can't change anything anymore of it.

Dissertation due in 1 month!

Thank you for whoever reading/responding to this and understanding the pressure!

After reading co-PA user Thesis's post in here I felt inspired to try and do the same thing with my dissertation. - Thank you to Thesis for that and good luck with your thesis!

End of Semester Tasks

I'm new to PA, been with CODA for a while and think the 12
steps is an amazing tool and way of life. It's helped me a lot and I'm grateful.
You can read why I'm here: http://procrastinators-anonymous.org/node/4287

I hope, that this will be a place where I'll report in twice
a day. In the morning I'll write what I'm planning to do today and when and the end of the day what I actually did. Visitors are welcome to read and support is even more welcomed.

Let's start:

Finishing my Thesis

Hi, I gave a (very long!) introduction in the introductions section - "Pulling myself back from the Brink". (http://procrastinators-anonymous.org/node/4281) I am going to keep a log here of each day. So that I have some encouragement and record of how I am doing with getting to the end of my long due thesis.

Hypatia's one-a-day

I'm gradually making progress on my project to catch up all my reports at work.  But I'm having awful problems getting anything done at home.  It's mostly demand resistance - I hate doing chores and paperwork around the house, and the more I know I must do them, the less actually gets done.  I'd already worked that out, and my psychologist came to the same conclusion independently.

My psychologist has given me some homework to try and break the negative cycle.  I am to challenge myself to do one task a day in the house that I particularly dislike or procrastinate on.

6 month dejavu!

Well 6 months has come and gone and.... I find myself in pretty much the same position.

I previously posted as  iwas studying for my Pathology and Anatomy specialty exams. I managed to pass those (just!) and now literally 16 days away from my Physiology and Pharmacology ones.  Mmmm.  Something inherently depressing about that.

Anyhoo - as counter-traction to my inner critic:

- I have been working and reading the topics for 3months solid.

Looking for 2 reliable goal partners!

Hi,

I am looking for two people who would like to start a goal partner circle.  A "circle" in order to ensure that even if someone has an emergency or flakes, there is at least one person who will show up.

Social stigma due to procrastination

get things done on my time off

title says it all. I'll try not to make it too overwhelming. Let's aim to have these things done by when my summer classes start (which is who knows when).

emilhaller's exorcise-the-demons project ('s)

The main purpose of this first post is to get something started. I'm working on my final projects/exams for my BA degree and I do have a chance to finish it this semester. But this chance is decreasing with every day of less then full-time work (8h/day). Today as well as the day before I haven't managed to work that much.

For now, I'm going to leave it with this, but I will come back later, to edit and elaborate on my project ('s)

kromer's getting-on-a-normal-schedule Project

Hi all!

Last night, I stayed up until 1:30 and then accidentally slept in until 9:40 and was 20 min late to an important meeting at work.

This is not OK, and shows me that I need to work to get on a regular schedule.

So: I'm going to commit to 30 days of schedule.

Goal is to be in bed around 11, and to be up around 6 or 7.

BUT I will consider it a success if I am in bed by 12 and up before 8.

I will check in daily to report who I've done.

Hypatia's 2012 reports project

Ok, I've been given a month with dedicated time to get my reports caught up.  I'm going to need to average 6 reports per session to get this done.  Moral support gratefully received.

End of the Semester List, Spring version!

Another end of the semester list! I am happy to say there isn't quite as much overdue stuff as usual :)

I know you are probably thinking "oh here we go again this chick makes a bunch of posts but only gets some of the stuff done" But that's why we are here, right?

This really helps me keep things organized.
