Am I a procrastinator or just lazy?

How can I tell if I'm a chronic procrastinator or just lazy?  Can you kindly point me to an article or questionnaire that will help me figure it out?  TIA!

Thanks!

Thanks, I will check all those out.

Heh maybe I am both.  There are a lot of things I don't do b/c I can't be bothered.  But then there are things I put off and end up feeling guilty and anxious about.  Even things I want to do.  For example, I am learning to play the guitar, something I've wanted to do since I was a small child.  But I can't bring myself to practice a little every day.  Instead I leave it for the night before and the day of my lesson, in the meantime feeling guilty the whole week as I watch yet another day go by w/o practicing.  And I do this even though I know I would learn to play so much faster and better if I practiced every day.  Things  like this are what makes me think I have a procrastination problem.

procrastination versus laziness

You don't have to decide whether you are a procrastinator or lazy. You easily can be both. Procrastination just means putting things off - which is sounds like you definitely do. Why you put things off is a separate question!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Procrastination is the grave in which opportunity is buried.
You might be both!
You might be both: I certainly am. Sometimes I do laze because I simply can't be bothered, othertimes I don't do things that I want to do, would enjoy doing and would help me get to where I want to be.
In the 12x12, which is an AA book used in several anonymous fellowships, there is a statement sometine like 'procrastination is sloth in five sylables'. I think this in abusive nonsense. I do think that the writers might be more respectful of people with other addictions. The idea that people put off doing things because they are either afraid or lazy is a massive oversimplification of a set of complex and difficult problems.
Anyway that's my opinion.
Procrastination vs laziness
One specific thing you'll find under the Articles tab is an article called Signs of Compulsive Procrastination. That might be what you're looking for. Personally, I would call it procrastination rather than laziness if you find yourself feeling uncomfortable, guilty, or troubled about not getting things done. I think the term "lazy" is pretty pejorative, and if the choices you are making leave you feeling bad, I don't think it's because of some character defect, which is how I tend to think of laziness.
Re: Am I a procrastinator
Hi Momiji.   If you look under the "Articles" tab you will find lots of useful information regarding procrastination.   I tend to think of procrastionation and laziness go hand in hand.  I am in general a lazy "minded" person so I rend to procrastinate.   Generally I do things that I WANT to be doing instead of what I NEED to be doing.  I have a very diffucult time keeping my priorities straight.  Hopefilly the articles will help, but also just read some of the forum backlogs.  YOu can read what other people have been stuggling with and if you stuggle with them too, I would guess you are probably a fellow procrastinator.
