Hi Emily M., welcome! And of

Hi Emily M., welcome! And of course you are welcome to post your checkin / list here. You are also welcome in the chatbox, I am often there.

As a general rule, I think, people don't use the "reply" button on others' check-in list posts, because we have discovered that when you reply to a comment, it will disable the ability to edit that comment.  Some people like to come back and edit their lists to check off things as they do them, so replying directly to the comment disables that.

(Other places in the forums you are usually welcome to reply directly to posts and comments, unless the post or thread specifically says "no feedback please" or something like that.)

Wishing you the best in your journey and recovery against procrastination!

Thank you very much Haribol

Hello there, thank you very much for the welcome.  I am sorry, I didn't think that I was replying to somebody else's check in, I thought it was a new comment that I was making.

I am very sorry if I interfered with somebody's ability to edit their post.

Not quite sure now how to make my own thread, will nip over to chat box and try and find out how to do it properly.

Hope everyone is having a nice day.

Very best wishes.

Emily

you didn't do anything wrong! : )

Hi Emily, no you didn't do anything wrong!  I was just warning against that ... yours was a direct comment on the post, I was just trying to warn that when you hit "reply" on one of those comments, it disables editing of that comment.  Directly commenting on the post/thread for the day is no problem!  That's generally what people have been doing here.

Sorry if I caused additional confusion in trying to explain things.

You don't need to start a new thread if you don't want to; you're perfectly welcome to add yours as a comment to the day's thread ... that's generally what people are doing.

And that caveat only applies to these to-do-list type of posts -- where people may want to re-edit and update their posting as they work through their things.  In most cases it's no problem to reply to a comment, unless the post or thread says something like "no feedback please", which sometimes people do because they don't want any feedback on their posting.

So I guess, to try to simplify, clicking "add comment" is no problem in these, but clicking "reply" to an existing comment disables the original poster from re-editing their comment.

But even if one makes a mistake, no big deal; one can always copy and paste into a new comment if one wants to update their list, as a workaround.

And welcome, again. : )

Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for the explanation.  I really appreciate it haribol!

Very pleased that I didn't do anything wrong.

Hope you are having a good day.

Best wishes
