I don't know why, no matter how early I wake up, I don't get tired until late and then I want to sleep late. :( At least it's not 2am. I'm improving. And I got up at 7:30am this morning - not too bad.

  • Enter information on various scraps of paper into my PIM.
  • Sort more papers - action stuff separated from stuff to be filed.
  • Miscellaneous other stuff.
  • Finished filing everything else in my pile. The only things left are some bills to pay - action items. I'm done for today.

Thomas C.--late in the day

Hi. I didn't post this morning, and wish I had. I am home again with little one, and she's a bit more restive today, wanting more attention--and that makes sense.

I have one project I HAVE to finish for my students, an online quiz I have to set up. Right now I'm working on the questions; once I'm done I have to figure out how to get it to them online. I've been trained for that, but I'll still be on my own for some of it--it's unfamiliar.

Anyway, that's my goal for the day.

pro's CI - 4:10pm

I'm getting to a "stuck" point. I've taken care of a bunch of things I needed to do, and now I need to transition into desk work - pile (mail, filing), back accounting, work on book... I'm not good at transitions - not to mention that these are the things I always procrastinate on. So I need a next step - I need to commit to a next action. Let's see... I think it will be the pile.

To Do:
Rising time: 7am.
Check email.
Cut hair.
Make and eat breakfast.

did you see?

I linked to an article in my 10:05 am CI... couldn't figure out how to post it in Articles. See what you think.

I see you've taken your first dose of pills - good job!

not yet

I just got back from errands so I haven't looked yet. I will.

You can't post it as an article - only I can post articles. But you could post it in the Questions & Insights section. It will get lost here in the check-ins section.

ahhh.

only I can post articles.

I thought that might be the case.

It hadn't occurred to me to post it in Questions & Insights. I knew it would get lost here, which I why I wanted to make sure you saw it.

Either way!

please re-post it

Please re-post it on the Questions and Insights board. Give it a subject that conveys what the article is about, write a summary of it and why you think it's interesting, and then give the link. That's the only way people are going to see it, read it, and comment on it.

Thanks.

will do.

I'm really not trying to make you do stuff for me. I know you are sensitive to that. I'll go post it in Q&I.

Haircut

Thought I'd share with you that years ago during my step work, I was so dazed and confused that I put "get a haircut" on my eighth step list. My sponsor didn't think it affected others at all. And, I re-sent you a message thru the contact button the night before last. Let me know if you received it. Take care, and I hope an emergency doesn't occur in the midst of your haircut!

lark...

>Thought I'd share with you that years ago during my step work, I was so dazed and confused that I put "get a haircut" on my eighth step list. My sponsor didn't think it affected others at all.

I'd tend to agree with your sponsor. :)

I still haven't gotten any messages from you. Are you sure you're hitting the "Send" button on the Contact sheet, because I get other messages sent through the Contact sheet.

Could you re-send it right now, today? If you tell me the same day you send it, I can look in my spam folder. If you don't tell me until a few days have passed, the spam folder is already emptied. (That said, I always look in the spam folder before I empty it, and I haven't seen any messages from you.)

Rexroth 12.50 GMT

It's past midday and this is my first post. I've spend a lot of the night awake worrying about my legal/admin project and how comples it is turning out to be. Friend has been working on it for nearly a month and I would like it to be further forward.

Todo today

up prayer, reflection and meditation
deal with emails, phone messages, post
get flat ready for friend
work with friend
return call solicitor for new appointment
try to keep calm
phone landlord re defective fire alarm
finish white washing
clean up in kitchen and check food
rest
prayer and reflection
bed and sleep

Overall -- I'm eating too much and drinking too much alcohol and coffee, mainly coffee and not exercising and trying to focus all my energy on the one problem.

Regards Rexroth

pro's CI - 7:25am

I'm going to give myself a haircut today. I'm much better at doing this than I was, but it's still slow going and I don't like doing it. It beats paying someone else to do it, though.

  • Rising time: 7am.
  • Check email.

Where is Monica??

I'm worried about Monica. She was here every day and doing so well, then she posted a message about a bad day yesterday and hasn't posted again since then. :(

Anyway, I got up at 7am and I'm determined to make today more productive than yesterday.

Yah

And she wasn't around during her usual 5AM wakeup time either... Maybe she's not feeling well? Hope you're doing ok, Monica

I'm here and I'm OK

Thanks for the love and support guys. I am really touched by the caring comments you all left for me while I was away. Also, I want to say sorry if my negative behavior brought any one down. I was so wrapped up in my own woes, I neglected to consider what effect my actions/attitude might have on others.

I've had a change of heart since my last post. I went to the movies with a friend today. In this movie one of the characters was having a day that was not going well. What he hoped and envisioned happening did not happen. His answer to his dilemma and frustration was to roll up his sleeve and stick a heroin needle in his arm. At one point, before injecting the needle, a friend turns to him to say something, anything, that would possibly stop him from taking this self destructive step. As his friend looks into his eyes, struggling to find the right words, the lead character looks at his friend as if to say, "Go ahead. Say what you need to because I'm gong to do this anyway." At this point the friend knows, there are no words to stop what is about to happen. So he turns and walks away. I saw myself in the lead character today. Last Thursday, I turned off the computer and refused to answer the phone. When my husband tried to speak to me about my behavior, I stared at him thinking, "Say what you will, I refuse to participate in life today." And refuse I did. I rolled up my sleeve and shot my veins full with procrastination. I stayed in my bed the entire day. But, there is good news. Seeing myself in this movie has helped me. I don't want to be the person I saw on that screen today. I'm realizing, there will be days that are frustrating, disappointing and distracting. I need to accept that it is OK. I may not be able to do what was planned, but I can make a new plan. I don't have to throw away my day. I can rethink my day. Perfection is not possible, but progress is. I don't like change, but I must learn to yield to it when it comes (because it will come). It is evident, change is here to stay. And hopefully so am I.

Goodnight everyone. See you all tomorrow... 5 am, sharp. :p :D

what happened?

I'm certainly glad you're feeling more positive and you're back on the site! What happened to make you feel so down?

re:what happened?

I was frustrated because I couldn't stick to my plans for the day.

  1. I woke late, putting me behind in my chores
  2. The High School called me in about a disciplinary problem with my oldest son, which is frustrating in itself and it put me even farther behind
  3. My husband and I had a huge argument over oldest son and over what would or would not be appropriate discipline

finally, out of feeling frustrated and off balanced, I called off work and crawled into bed. I felt overwhelmed and undone. So I quite my life and sulked. Not the maturest response to small life challenges, I know.

time-out

Sometimes people need a time-out. I do sometimes. In fact, I had a bad day the same day you did and stayed in bed all day.

Sometimes I get very overwhelmed with what I face in life and become temporarily unable to cope. I think it's okay to take a mental health day now and then, but after that, of course, you have to "get back on the horse".
