Monica's CI - 10:40 am EST

Good morning,
I couldn't post my results after the NYE Service. I didn't get in until 1:30 am and I had a headache to beat all headaches. I barely had enough energy to undress and get into bed. I seriously considered sleeping in my clothes. I didn't set my alarm on purpose. I wanted to rest as long as my body needed to.

Final Results:
[x] Get up at 5 am
[x] Shower
[x] Oral care
[x] Pedi-care
[x] Facial
[x] Dress to shoes
[x] Make bed
[x] Clean MBR vanity
[x] Attend Church
[x] Pick up salmon for dinner
[Ø] Cook dinner (Wendy's fast food restaurant won out)

[x] Attend NYE Service (Great service. A lot of talk about freedom in the new year. I couldn't help but think about Pro's post about the history of "Watch Night" and my own desire to be free from procrastination.)

[Ø] Type up next day's to do list
[Ø] Set out mouthwash
[Ø] Set alarm
[Ø] Report CI (not done last night, too tired)

Bonus Item:
[Ø] Work on Son’s school project

pro's last check-in - 12:05am (HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!)

pro's CI - 10:15pm

I didn't do my pile - just studied Chinese some more. Somebody kick me, please? I need a boot to get me going. I decided I preferred to study Chinese than go to a party tonight. I don't want to stay up really late because I'm catching an early train tomorrow to go to my brother's house for New Year's Day breakfast.

I'm making flash cards of Chinese radicals, using a nice program I have for doing that. Pronunciation is part of the flash card, and since I don't have any native Chinese people in my apartment, I have to do it the best I can. I listen to the character pronounced by a talking dictionary, then reproduce the sound as best I can. I think so far I'm pretty close. Some of the Chinese consonents are killer - SO HARD. I can't make my mouth do that (yet).

In addition to studying the radicals, I was also studying the Pinyan (romanized pronunciation). I'd look at a word, try to guess how it was said, then play the native Chinese speaker. I got better after a while, but I still get some sounds wrong.

My impulse is to stay up and make more flash cards, time binger that I am, but I'm going to get ready for bed.

pro's CI - 3:45pm

I have a bad migraine that has not responded to medication. I think it's because I've been trying to taper off coffee. I need to lie down for a while. I feel like I have a knife in my head.

Make and eat breakfast.
Shower and dress.
Put in contacts.
Go to meeting.
Lay out pills for the day.
Take pills - dose 1 of 3.
Study Chinese for one hour.
Make bed (convert futon from bed to couch).
Finish off pile.
Work on back accounting.
Go to New Year's party.
Bedtime routine.

instead of lying down...

I keep finding myself copying the clever things you do - playing with signatures, now checkboxes. I really should lie down so I can get rid of this headache and get something useful done.

You seem to be a trend-setter. :)

Guess what Husband comes back with...NO SALMON. He decides it's too expensive and so now I'm left with no plan for dinner. I'm marking this task as done. Though the results were not what I wanted, the action was taken. I didn't procrastinate.)

12:30PM CI for Lark

I went to church this morning with a friend so I'm late checking in. BUT, it was interesting hearing about prioritizing our lives. "Quantity vs. Quality" was mentioned, which really stuck with me. Sometimes when I have a large list all checked off I'm excited, but it's often things which aren't urgent at all. Then reality creeps in.
Done:
1. morning routine
2. meditation and reflection
3. checked e-mails
4. heat workshop
ToDo:
1. Make a priority list for this week (When and how will come later)
2. Focus on the most important work project, taking a break for cleaning and organization only. (It needs to be finished!)
3. Basic house work.

NYE Service

Hi was curious what "NYE Service" meant so I googled it. I found this in Wikipedia - sounds like a nice way to spend New Year's Eve:

Many religious communities have a tradition of New Year's Eve being known as "Watch Night." The faithful of the community congregate in worship services commencing New Year's Eve night and continuing past midnight into the new year. The Watch Night is a time for giving thanks for the blessings of the outgoing year and praying for divine favor during the upcoming year. Though held by some to have begun in the African American community, watch night can actually be traced back to a sect of Christians known as the Moravians. The practice was later adopted by John Wesley, the founder of Methodism. Watch Night did take on special significance to African Americans on New Year's Eve 1862, however, as slaves eagerly awaited the arrival of January 1, 1863 -- the effective date of the Emancipation Proclamation. This particular New Year's Eve became known as "Freedom's Eve."[1]

RE: NYE Service

"Freedom's Eve," I kind of like that. I wish I had an Emancipation Proclamation from Procrastination that I could watch all night for. :p ;). Freedom from procrastination...now that's something to celebrate.

freedom from procrastination

I'd like that, too. I get whiffs of it, but I'm still not completely procrastination-free.

early rising on New Year's Eve

My alarm went off at 6am, and then I remembered it was New Year's Eve and I'm going to a party so I have to stay up late. I went back to sleep until 7:30am. That's not too late. I have to be somewhere at 9:30am, but I have time.
